Five Dimensions of Strength:

guided toursNeuschwanstein CastleOne of the top tourist destinations in all of Germany, King Ludwig’s “Disney Castle” is an enjoyable experience for the whole family. After a scenic drive through Austria you will learn of this Mad King’s life and tour his infamous castle. On the way home you will visit the Wießkirche, a pilgrimage church of the Baroque/Rococo style, and the Ammertal wood carving shop for an opportunity to purchase beautifully crafted decor.It is a 45-minute uphill walk to reach the castle entrance. Alternative means are availablefor an additional Euro fee.

Three Country TourEnjoy breathtaking views of the German and Austrian Alps, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Stops along the way include Mils, Austria; Flüela Pass, Davos, Wolfgang Pass, Switzerland; and Vaduz, Liechtenstein. You will have time for shopping, meals and exploration at each of these locations.

Bolzano & Vipiteno, ItalyIn the foothills of the Italian Dolomites rests the famous remains of Ötzi, the 5,300-year-old iceman, in the South Tirol Museum of Archeology. The city center features charming shops and cafés where one can sample both Italian and Austrian specialties. This tour also stops in Vipiteno, known for its Italian wine and leather goods of South Tirol. Sightseers are well rewarded with beautiful mountain vistas and postcard castles as you travel through the magnificent Brenner Pass.

guided toursCrystal World & Innsbruck CityVisit the Swarovski Crystal World in Wattens, Austria. You’ll have the chance to experience the eclectic and fascinating multimedia art gallery that has become one of Tirol’s mostpopular attractions. Then shop at their largest crystal outlet before heading to Innsbruck, home of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics for sightseeing. On the way home you’ll stop at the Wilten Basilica, one of the most beautiful in Northern Tirol.

Berchtesgaden Eagle’s NestTravel to the Obersalzberg area to view one of the most interesting and historic buildings from WWII in all of Germany. You’ll be given information along the way before ascending to the scenic Eagle’s Nest overlooking the valley. In the event of inclement weather the tour will visit the Eagle’s Nest documentation center or the salt mine, as decided by the tour group. After your visit you’ll stop in Berchtesgaden for lunch and shopping.

Dachau Concentration Camp“Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work makes you free) takes you into the solemn Concentration Camp of Dachau. You will view an English video presentation about the camp and tour the museum. Afterwards you may explore the compound on your own or follow a guide.This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12.Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to watch the documentary film or enter the theater.

guided toursCrown Jewels of Munich CityTravel to the capital of Bavaria for a full day of everything Munich. You’ll pass by the grounds of the world-famous Oktoberfest held every year, tour the Rathaus town hall and witness the time-honored tradition of the Glockenspiel play clock chiming with dancers, jousters and knights. Afterwards you’ll walk to the Hofbräuhaus, one of the city’s oldest breweries, and lastly make your way to the Residenz to view crown jewels of Munich’s past royals. You’ll then have time for shopping, lunch and exploration of the Marienplatz.

Linderhof PalaceEnjoy local folklore and descriptive information of the area as you travel to Linderhof Palace. Upon arrival you will be guided through King Ludwig’s summer home by a certified English speaking guide. After the palace tour you will visit Oberammergau where you will have time to shop at the famous wood carving shops, explore the many frescos the town has to offer and have a view of the world renown Passion Play Theater.

Cake by the Lake / Bobsled HikeTake a short hike from the Edelweiss Resort to the Riessersee Lake, a site used in the 1936 Winter Olympics for bobsledding. You’ll then have time for a lake side stroll with stunning mountain reflections and then a possible trek through the old bobsled course. Top it all off with cake at the Riesersee Café (not included in price). Don’t forget your camera!

After a tour through the factory and viewing of a short film you will head to the Ettal Monastery to see the exquisite Basilica. You will have an opportunity to purchase some of the Monks’ famous home-made beers and liqueurs before returning to the cheese factory to sample “Brotzeit Teller” - a traditional Bavarian meal.

Griesbräu BreweryJoin a unique hands-on experience at the Griesbräu Brewery. Get an up-close showing of how your favorite types of beers are brewed including Helles, Dunkel & Weissbier, along with tasting their very own beer schnapps. Afterwards relax and enjoy the atmosphere of a true Bavarian beer hall.

Munich Zoo Family OutingOne of the largest zoos in all of Germany, the Munich Zoo is fun for the whole family. The Munich Zoo Hellabrunn was founded in 1911 as the first Geo-zoo worldwide. The animals live according to their geographic distribution in complex communities. If you follow the icons you will travel around the world and experience the different habitats.

leisure activitiesPartnach Gorge (also offered as bike tour)Experience the spectacular views of a rushing gorge right in the heart of Garmisch. You’ll be given historic information at the Olympic Ski Jump Stadium and at the gorge itself. Then travel through the beautifully carved stone as water flows through the caverns. Then indulge in a tasty dessert and/or beverage in the dramatic Partnach Gästhaus.Partnach Gorge Bike Tour is the same, but travel to/from the gorge is via bicycle.

Indoor Rock ClimbingThis is an introductory course to rock climbing. Learn basic rock climbing skills, rope work, knots, belay, rappel systems and safety procedures. Class is held at the Hausberg Sport Lodge. See if you can tackle the crag!

Eibsee Boat ExcursionA short bus ride to the foot of Germany’s highest peak brings you to Lake Eibsee. First, enjoy a calm boat ride around the lake (weather permitting) and then choose to relax on the pebble shore, hike around the lake yourself or indulge in a dessert or beverage at the nearby lakeside restaurant. You can also rent a paddle boat for around 8 euros an hour.

Bike RentalIf you’re looking to get some exercise while enjoying the scenery of Garmisch and surrounding towns, bike rental is for you! Visit the POiNT Wellness Club for prices and information.

kids activitiesJust for KidsEvery day at Just For Kids is an adventure. We know how to provide kids a great time through encouragement, education, exploration and achievement. Bavaria offers anexcellent playground of activities for kids to discover the joy of learning a new activityand culture. Simply put, our instructors love kids and their genuine excitement will shine through to the kids. Available for children ages 5-12. A minimum of 4 paid children for the program to run. Children must be 5 years old on the day of participation.

Kids Night OutLet us entertain the kids for the evening while you spend some time together over a nice meal. Kids are fed and have a multitude of activities do after dinner. This program is one of our most successful and encouraged activities. Reservations can be made at AlpineAdventures. Available for children ages 5-12. A minimum of 4 paid children for theprogram to run. Children must be 5 years old on the day of participation.

us army garrison garmischAt the USAG Garmisch Child, Youth & School Services, you will find the same quality programs youreceive at your home garrison. If your children are registered with CYS Services at home, we canarrange to have their files sent to us electronically and save you paperwork. Whether you’re here for a few days or a few weeks, we’ll make your time in Garmisch as enjoyable for your kids as it is for you!

Child Care Child care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old is available at the USAG Garmisch Child Development Center, located next to the Edelweiss Resort Vacation Village. The CDC can often accommodate same-day requests, but reservations are recommended. The CDC honors Army Family Covenant entitlements from your home garrison, including free and/or reduced-fee child care hours. Middle School/Teen Center Recreational activities for youth in grades 6-12 are available at the USAG Garmisch Middle School/Teen Center, located next to the Edelweiss Resort Vacation Village. The MSTC offers a TV/lounge area, computer lab, game room, video games and more. Youth are also welcome to participate in MSTC field trips and sports activities. Tandem Paragliding Flights, Mon-Sun $110 plus lift ticket (approx. €13)Take a tandem flight with an experienced instructor off the Kreuzeck Mountain. It is around an 11 minute flight down. You may take your camera with you to photograph the wholeexperience. Report to Alpine Adventures at 0745 to receive directions to the meeting point, a flight time and a voucher for payment. Activity is weather dependent and flights are offered in the morning. Sign up in Alpine Adventures.It is a 10-15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive to the meeting point. Flights cannot be done in adverse weather conditions but the minimum number of flights will be rain checked if required. Upon completion of the 4-day course you may fly with a certified instructor. The summit view at 2,962 meters is an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Lift tickets can be purchased at Alpine Adventures and are valid any day of the season. One ticket price allows access to the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn, Eibsee-Seilbahn and Gletscherbahn for one trip up and one trip down. Because tickets are non-refundable we suggest purchasing your tickets the morning of your adventure rather than in advance.

reservationsSpa appointments are very popular with guests here at the POiNT Wellness Center. Werecommend that appointments be made prior to, or upon arrival in order to meet your scheduling needs. All treatments are subject to availability. While scheduling your appointment, please let us know if you have a gender preference for your therapist. Ages 12 or older for facials. spa etiquettePlease arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled service to fill out a health intake form and to use the restroom or shower. If you should arrive late, your session may be shortened to ensure the satisfaction of all guests. During each treatment, you will be fully draped and covered with a sheet. Loose clothing is advised for any waxingtreatments. Gratuities are not included, butappreciated.

cancellationsWe require a minimum four hour notice to change or cancel appointments. Cancellations made within four hours are subject to a $20 room charge. No notification will result in a full charge of service. Cancellations must be made directly with the POiNT desk at the number above.

healthDrink plenty of water and avoid caffeine/alcohol before and after your treatment. Anyone with a contagious condition such as a cold or flu should not receive a massage. A massage worsens your condition, spreading it throughout the body.
