Day-to-day operations summary: Planned / Unplanned Outages of EDS
• Planned Outages– N/A
• Unplanned Outages– 10/19/09 - 8: 00 A.M – 10:50 A.M Sandbox was down following
data center maintenance activity from the prior weekend– 10/29/09 – 2:00P.M – 3:45 PM The ERCOT Nodal Market
Environment experienced degradation in availability during this time period. Root cause is under investigation; issue is related to the Storage Area Network and vendors have been engaged
Known Issues for Market Connectivity
• Known Issues list : Latest known issues list affecting scope of market connectivity testing has been published on Readiness Center at http://nodal.ercot.com/readiness/markettrials/connectivity/index.html– An unclear error is returned if Self-Arranged AS doesn’t contain all
three subtypes of RRS– Inc/Dec offer response appears invisible on the Market Manager– When submitting a DC Tie Schedule on the Market Manager for all
24 hours, the Market Manager times out– Query response for Self-Arranged AS improperly compressing
hours together for RRS subtypes– Listeners implemented in Axis framework may be affected by an
issue when validating digital signatures.– ERCOT public key has changed – download at
http://nodal.ercot.com/readiness/sandbox/index.html
http://nodal.ercot.com 5
Known Issues for Market Connectivity
• Known Issues list (continued):– The system is not correctly translating submissions for the extra
hour on the long day and is rejecting valid submissions– No extra hour available on the Market Manager screens for the
long day– Error message incorrect when UserId field in the header doesn't
match certificate (implies the opposite)

Standing reports and updates: General Reminders / Updates
Notification Listener Information
• Current State– You can register two Notification Listener URLs with ERCOT.
• One will be considered the primary and one will be considered the secondary
• Primary vs. Secondary Listener URL– The primary URL is the one ERCOT will actively attempt to deliver notifications to.– ERCOT will not automatically fail from the primary to secondary listener URL.
• How Do I Change from Primary to Secondary Notification Listener URL?– In a future release, ERCOT will provide an API that will allow you to swap programmatically between the primary
and secondary URL. This feature will be available in Market Trials Phase 3.– During Market Trials, you may contact [email protected] to have the URL switched– ERCOT systems will no longer attempt multiple deliveries if your Primary Notification URL is unavailable
• How will I Know if my Notification Listener fails to respond?– Upon delivery failure, ERCOT will automatically deliver an email to your registered email address.– You must register with ERCOT the email address that you wish to receive failure alerts
• How Do I Test if My Notification Listener is Receiving Notifications from ERCOT?– In a future release, you will have the ability to invoke a TestNotification API that will send a notification to your
current primary listener URL. This feature will be available in Market Trials Phase 3.– This API can be used at your discretion. Ideal times are following invocation of the Switch URL API or after you
experience downtime or following a release or maintenance of your listener.

Request for Volunteers to Submit “Quality” COPS for Specific Dates and Times
October 30, 2009
http://nodal.ercot.com 12
Asking for volunteers to provide “quality” COPS for FIT days
• It would be helpful to ERCOT, if QSEs provided “quality” COPS for a few specific days within the upcoming FIT windows.
• Not a requirement. Looking for willing volunteers. (A great exercise for the QSE.) May make it easier to provide “quality telemetered data. Provides better data for testing in Nodal Itest Environment.
• Especially would like COPS to be submitted to NPROD by 1000 and by 1430 on the first two days of the FIT windows. Especially interested in COP info for the current and next two Operating Days.
• Would like an updated COP before 1430 that shows the specific Resources that will be used to supply the QSE’s AS Supply Responsibility. (The QSE’s zonal Supply Responsibility.)
http://nodal.ercot.com 13
FIT Windows
• Nov 03-05
• Nov 17-19
• Dec 01-03
Would like “Quality Cops” Nov 3, 4 17, 19 and Dec 01, 02 at 1000 and 1430. COPs should provide quality data for several days out.

QSE Information Update Request(originally presented 9/04/09)
QSE Information Update Request
• As we near Market Trials, ERCOT is asking that all QSE’s and TSP’s update needed information
• Each MP will receive an email by the end of next week directing them to the attached spreadsheet
• The spreadsheet will have inputs for the following:– Primary / Back-up contact information for each of the functional
areas (e.g. DAM, RTM, ICCP, Settlements, CRR….), Accountable Executive, Authorized Rep and Nodal Project Manager
• We ask that at least 1 back-up be provided for each area• There is space to add up to 3 back-ups
– Listener URL for notifications sent from ERCOT to MP’s (this is to confirm what we already have on file is correct)
– Email address where notification failure alerts will be sent
http://nodal.ercot.com 34
ERCOT Certificate Request(originally presented 9/04/09)
ERCOT Certificate Request
• ERCOT is requesting test digital certificates issued by voluntary MP’s:– Agenda and presentation to be posted 10/2 to the ERCOT calendar:
http://www.ercot.com/calendar/2009/10/20091008-EDS – Aug 27, 2009 ERCOT released all nodal roles to the production MPIM (Market Participant
Identity Management)– ERCOT is asking for volunteer MP’s to generate a certificate for their company containing only
these Nodal roles for a user called NODALTEST1Note that we have placed a 1 on the user to avoid conflicts with the previously used NODALTEST user.
– NEW: This user should have the “web services” checkbox checked when creating the certificate– Once created, email the NODALTEST1 certificate to [email protected]
Note that Scott Middleton will serve as the central point of control for these certificates– Once we have completed the 168 hour test, MP USA’s may revoke this certificate (ERCOT will
also destroy it)– ERCOT would like a core set of certificates in place by October 1, 2009
http://nodal.ercot.com 36
NODALTEST Certificates Expiration(originally presented 8/07/09)
Standing reports and updates: Certificates (reminder)
• NODALTEST Certificate Expirations– All NODALTEST certificates will expire over the next several
months– These certificates will not be renewed– In order to continue to test in the sandbox, MP’s may use any valid
ERCOT certificate– When the Nodal Production environment is deployed in October,
MP’s will use their current (zonal) certificate. – MP USA’s will need to add the appropriate Nodal roles depending
on the testing that user will perform– Note: Nodal roles will not have an affect on zonal system usage
