The GNIT MBA Institute organised a freshers’ party, Spark. A little music and chunk of ice, new faces, smiles all along and resounding laughter, it was party time all along. The party started with a welcome speech of Dr HP Maheshwari, the director. Shweta Mishra was declared Miss Fresher and Prashant Choudhari Mr Fresher. Also Mukesh kumar and Shakshi Kumari was declared Mr and Miss Performer. Delegation Senior government officials and 40 industrialists from China, headed by director general of Jilin state, Wang Fu Li and economic and commer- cial councilor, Peng Gang visit- ed Noida earlier this week. They met members of the Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA), who apprised them of the opportu- nities to set up industries in the city. Fu Yi and NEA presi- dent Vipin Malhan signed an agreement of mutual help. Survivors meet Fortis Hospital organised its second annual breast cancer fighters and survivors meet at its premises in Sector 62. The meet aimed at increasing awareness about preventive and diagnostic measures and removal of taboo of being a cancer patient while highlight- ing common risk factors and habits that potentially cause cancer. Joy of giving Lioness Club Siddhi celebrat- ed the Joy of Giving Week at Sai Kripa Bal Sansar School, Agahpur Village, Sector 41. The club donated 160 uniform shirts to school children. Sports Day Kali Bari, Sector 26, organised a sports day for its members at the premises of Club 26. It was a fun-filled day during which a number of sports competitions were organised. The members were divided into different groups depend- ing on their age. Workshop Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) organised a workshop on application of information security and risk management at IEC College, Greater Noida. Information security manager at TCS, Kuldeep Kumar spoke about various ways in which information can be secured. Annual Day Om Foundation School, a school for underprivileged children, organised a cultural show to mark its 10th annual day. Students presented a scintillating performance dur- ing which they danced, sung, played instruments and also acted in an English play. Sanjay Drabu, founder and trustee of the school was also present on the occasion. Awareness The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, organised an awareness programme for school chil- dren on the impact of climate change and their role to miti- gate at the Bhawani Shankar Inter College (Sadar Sarai), Noida Kanya Inter College (Bhangel) and Sant Yuraj Inter College (Barola) in the district. The programme was held in association with the Institute of Applied Systems & Rural Development. Over 1,500 students from these schools attended the pro- gramme. Launched Certiport, the official test delivery solution provider for Microsoft Office Certifications and CyberLearning, launched Season 3 of COMPUDON, the gateway to the Microsoft Office World Championship at the IT Park in Sector 62. Several officials from Microsoft besides participants and teachers of various schools were present on the occasion. Students from all over the country will compete for the title of India champi- ons, after which six winners will represent India at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in August 2013 in Washington DC, USA. Skaters shine District skaters once again proved themselves by winning 59 medals in the 11th East Zone Roller Skating Championship held at Sunbeam International School, Varanasi, from October 4 to 7. Around 550 skaters from 79 schools from all eastern states had gath- ered at Varanasi. The 35 skat- ers from different schools from the district won 26 gold, 21 silver and 12 bronze medals. The first and second position holders will participate in 11th CBSE Nationals to be held at DAV Public School, Amritsar, next month. Sunburn From the sunny sands of Goa to the buzzing city of Noida, Sunburn’s latest edition rocked the city here. There were two huge stages that saw the best DJs perform and make the crowd groove and sway to their beats. Besides DJ Afrojack being the headlin- er, there were eclectic perfor- mances by Moguai and the dynamic duo of Prok & Fitch. Canadian prodigy Arnej set an exhilarating tone for the festival. India’s number 2 DJ Pearl set the main stage on fire with her breathtaking sets. India’s youngest DJ Shaan created the finest elec- tronic dance music setting the stage ready for Afrojack’s pro- tégé Bobby Burns on the main stage. Cancer awareness The NGO, Aureate Cancer Foundation organised its first programme on cancer aware- ness among the elderly at Vasundhara Enclave, east Delhi. The programme was opened by MCD councilor Vinod Kumar Binny. Oncologist at Dharmshila Hospital, Dr Anish Maru dis- cussed about signs, symp- toms, causes and prevention and survival rates with differ- ent types of cancer. The pro- gramme was attended by more than 150 senior citizens.
