THE BALANCE SHEET OCTOBER 2020 HR NEWS Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic Hokie Wellness will be holding a drive- thru clinic to administer flu shots to Virginia Tech employees and their dependents. The clinic will be conducted in the North End Center garage on October 24th from 9a-1p. More details can be found here. No Change to Leave Carry Over HR has received inquiries related to leave carry over. Currently there is no plan to increase carry over limits or extend the deadline of usage beyond January 9, 2021. Employees are encouraged to work with their leaders to manage leave balances while ensuring ample leave to cover the winter closure. Additional information is available here. Caregiver Survey Released Throughout the pandemic it has become clear many employees are struggling to balance work with caregiving responsibilities. To better understand the issues and inform the development of possible solutions, Virginia Tech has released an anonymous survey. All employees and graduate students are encouraged to leverage this platform to confidentially share their experiences. Please note the survey will remain active through October 23rd. Mindfulness Mondays Every Monday from 12:15-12:45p Hokie Wellness invites employees to participate in a virtual session focused on mindfulness and emotional well-being. No registration is required. More information on the university's expectations can be found here. PageUp Learning Management System (LMS) Launched On September 29th Virginia Tech HR implemented its new LMS, PageUp. The initial launch focuses on compliance training including Title IX/ Policy 1025/VAWA and the governor- mandated trainings pertaining to employee safety and disaster awareness. On October 5th employees who were delinquent in any of these courses began receiving on emails alerting them to the outstanding requirements. For more details on the launch or associated notifications click here. Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) Training Accommodations EHS notes this training--required of all Commonwealth employees--does contain content which some may find disturbing. Please note that within the LMS module participants can opt to skip 911 call audio while still completing the course.
