HP QUALITY CENTER UPGRADE FROM 10 TO ALM 11.

The purpose of this document is to support and record the steps and actions performed or need to

be performed, on future upgrades, to upgrade from QC10 to ALM11.

PREREQUISITES

There are several important actions that need to be done prior to upgrade the application server. a) Validate with your DBA and/or request a backup of all your QC10 projects (DB’s), including the

siteadmin_db, on the Database server currently used. Because QC projects have also a files system dependency, you will also have to make a copy or backup the repository folder containing all projects content.

b) Download the new software from SAP marketplace (QC premier 11) c) Because QC10 license also works for ALM11, there is no action required. d) Login to SiteAdmin and remove and deactivate all the projects from the application, this is to

close any existing connection.

HP Quality Center 10 software Uninstall Before we start uninstalling HP Quality Center 10, by opening Windows Add and Remove programs in the server, we will have to uninstall other HP software solutions that depends on HP Quality Center such as “HP quality solutions for business applications” also known as “HP Enterprise Integration for SAP Solution Manager”. Therefore, first start uninstalling “HP quality solutions for business applications” after that continue with “HP Quality Center”.

Follow the steps shown in the uninstall wizard.

Select Yes and Press Next.

Disregard ff the following warning appears.

Once the extensions have been uninstalled we can now proceed with HP Quality Center.

HP Quality Center’s will start after selecting Change/Remove button (see above), follow the wizard and select the options as marked on the screens below.

NOTE: After removing all HP Quality Center software related, a server reboot is required.

HP Application Lifecycle Management / Quality Center 11 with Patch 15 Login to the server, where we previously uninstall HPQC 10, with an administrator account to proceed with the installation of the ALM 11; this account will be the same that Windows uses to run HP ALM service. Make sure you have an account that is not your own or belongs to a regular user (password should never expire). Locate the unzip software folder of HP ALM 11 to begin the installation and setup.

Keep on mind to follow IT recommended installation drive, on this installation we are focused on drive D:.

After finishing the Installation it will automatically direct us to the next steps for the configuration portion of HP ALM, follow all the steps as shown in the snapshots attached below.

Locate the license file of the previous HPQC 10, the license is the same and it works on ALM 11.

Maintenance key is not required.

The same user ID entered to run HP ALM service in windows, it must be the same one we have used to login to the server.

As part of Upgrading HPQC, the next step is related to pick up the same siteadministration_db database that we were using on QC 10, the purpose of this is to reuse the entire configuration done, but mainly to keep all the users and SiteAdmin parameters.

Locate the path where the latest patch (#15) has been downloaded, in order to install any patches HP ALM service has to be running.

Once the Patch files have been installed, the Deployment wizard will initiate by shutting down JBOSS in order to redeploy the new QC and SA files.

Some of the projects were previously using Application Model and Enterprise Integration extensions, such extensions can be found and download it from the Addins link shown in our new HP ALM initial screen.

On the Addins page, click on “More HP ALM Add-ins” to get the software and instructions on how-to put those extensions in place.

HP Enterprise Integration Module 2.60 Patch 3 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EhP1 for ALM 11.00

Installation Instructions

1. For pre-installation requirements, refer to the HP Enterprise Integration Module for SAP Applications User Guide.

2. Right-click the Download Enterprise Integration Extensions link and select Save Target As. The Save As dialog box opens.

3. In the Save As dialog box, select a location on the ALM Server to save the extension file and click Save.

4. Unzip the saved file. 5. On the ALM Platform machine, run the HP ALM Extension Deployment Wizard, and select the

following extensions from the unzipped directory: SPI.qcx APM.qcx

6. For details on running the Extension Deployment Tool, refer to the HP ALM Extension Deployment Tool Readme.

7. JBoss: 1. Copy the SPICore.jar file from the unzipped directory to

<Jboss_deployment_path>\server\default\lib. Restart JBoss. In Step 5, you can find the Extensions deployment tool in Windows Start > HP ALM Platform > Extension Deployment Tool > Deploy.

Copy the SPIcore.jar file from the unzip to the path below (as mentioned in the steps above).

Restart HP Application Lifecycle management service. PROJECT RESTORATION PROCESS

Copy the repository files from the HPQC 10 repository folder to the ALM 11 repository folder. Move the below one at a time from here.

Change the xml file; add the new repository path as shown below

Back in SiteAdministration start restoring the project we have adjusted its dbid.xml.

To resolve this create the folder “ProjRep” – this only applies for this kind of errors, otherwise the following folder creation is not required.

After creating manually the folder “ProjRep” in the folder where the project repository of the previous verified project, we have to run the verify process again to get a successfully verification. Now the Repair option has to be selected and executed.

And lastly proceed on upgrading the project.

The project restore process has to happen for each project you had running on the previous version and want to continue using on ALM 11.
