CASE STUDY How we detected 9% fraud in our client’s organic traffic, removed it and saved them from wasting big dollars on remarketing to bots CHEQ THE CHALLENGE Our client, a leading global SaaS company, spends significant dollars on remarketing to it’s potential users. But with bots, crawlers and data-centers targeting their assets, they run the risks of including them in their audiences and wasting big dollars on remarketing to these invalid users in the future. THE SOLUTION The client implemented CHEQ to their tag manager, automatically deploying CHEQ across their Search and Paid Social campaigns, to detect and block those users who were generating invalid clicks. Organic bot traffic contaminating client’s remarketing THE CLIENT DEPLOYED CHEQ TO UNCOVER INVALID ORGANIC CLICK ACTIVITY THE RESULTS CHEQ found that 8.93% of the client’s organic ad clicks were generated by completely invalid, non- human users. The invalid clicks were generated primarily by data centers and malicious crawlers. The data centers being used to target the client’s assets we’re uncovered thanks to our large ad-fraud database, built upon hundreds of billions of impressions analyzed by CHEQ across the globe. The crawlers we're also detected via our extensive database of malicious bots and competitor scrapers. Matched against known IAB listed malicious bots and analyzed via our Java-Script looking at over 1,000 unique parameters to authenticate the user. CHEQ (via an SSO connection) segmented the invalid users into an “invalid audience” in the client’s ads account, removing them indefinitely from all campaigns, saving big remarketing dollars.
