Your opinion is your own viewpoint about something. How you think about it, not how someone else thinks about it.

WHAT IS INFORMATIONAL WRITING?

• A piece of writing that shares information.

• Information is facts given or learned about something.

REVIEW

A “review” means to examine something and evaluate it against some sort of list (likes and dislikes, rules, pros and cons, etc.)

Tell me about the latest video game you played. Tell me what you:

liked or disliked

what was difficult?

Was there a problem playing it?

WHAT IS A VIDEO GAME REVIEW?

• Is it a narrative?

• Is it an opinion?

• Is it all of them?

• Why?

STEP 1: PLAY THE GAMEWhen doing so, take notes of what you liked and what you didn’t. Try to go over every feature of the game for the highest quality review.

STEP 2: INTRODUCTIONWrite a short introduction about 2-3 sentences that sums up the game but don’t spoil it too much. Make it catch the readers attention.

STEP 3: ADD YOUR NOTES

Write the notes you took, and add to them. After the introduction, the review itself begins. Write, add and connect the notes after your introduction.

STEP 4: LIKE AND HATE

Write things you really liked or really hated. If you hated or liked something very specific in the game, such as a map, a gameplay feature, a really annoying glitch, etc. add it as well.

STEP 5: CONCEPTS

Include every concept of the game including the graphics, music, cinematics, story, content, controls, gameplay, and your own opinion.

STEP 6: ADD EXAMPLES

Write about examples and references of the game to back up your argument and give the reader an idea of what you are talking about without giving too much spoilers.

STEP 7: ENDING PARAGRAPH

Sum it all up with an ending paragraph. Write a sentence about the game, list the pros and cons, and give a score.
