How to Upgrade DVR / NVR New Firmware

You can upgrade the firmware by either of the following two methods. 1. Upgrade via Web Browser 2. Upgrade via USB Flash Disk

Note : The SimpleDDNS function should be available for W Box VMS mobile app in Nov. 2015. Before that, the devices can be visit through SimpleDDNS by web browser. Please choose other DDNS services for the W Box VMS mobile app if necessary.

Upgrade via Web Browser Before Upgrading: The following device and accessories are required to finish firmware upgrading: 1. DVR / NVR device; 2. CAT5 network cable; 3. PC/ laptop; 4. New firmware package (digicap.dav file);

Step1: Download the new FW to the computer from the website. Unzip and you will have a digicap.dav file.

Step2: Connect the computer to the DVR/NVR with CAT5 network cable directly. NOTE: The cable should be connected to the LAN interface of the DVR/NVR rear panel.


Step3: Change your computer’s IP to 192.0.0.128, the same network segment with the DVR/NVR (our devices’ default IP is 192.0.0.64).

NOTE: If the device IP address has been changed, the computer’s IP should be changed to the same segment with the device.


Step4: Open web browser, input the IP address of the device and then press Enter. The login interface appears.

Input the user name and password, and click the Login. NOTE: The default IP address is 192.0.0.64.

The default user name is admin, and password is wbox123. Install the WebComponents.exe if it requires.

NOTE: The bowser needs to be closed when installing the plug-‐in. Step5: Navigate to Configuration-‐Maintenance. In Remote Upgrade, click Browse and choose the new firmware file (digicap.dav).


Click Upgrade. Wait several minutes. The device will reboots automatically after upgrading.

Step6: Login the device via web browser. Click Default to restore all parameters to default settings.


Upgrade via USB Flash Disk Before Upgrading: The following device and accessories are required to finish firmware upgrading: 1. DVR / NVR device; 2. VGA / HDMI monitor; 3. PC/ laptop; 4. USB flash disk (with 30MB or above memory available); 5. New firmware package (digicap.dav file);

Step1: Download the new FW to the computer from the website. Unzip and you will have a digicap.dav file. Copy the digicap.dav to the USB Flash disk.


Step2: Insert the USB disk into the USB port of the DVR / NVR. NOTE: You can either use the front panel USB port or rear panel USB port.

Step3: Connect the monitor to the DVR/NVR. Turn on the DVR /NVR. Navigate the local menu to Menu-‐Maintenance-‐Upgrade

Select the update file from the flash disk.


Click the Upgrade button to start upgrading. After the upgrading is complete, reboot the NVR to activate the new firmware.

Step4: Navigate the local menu to Menu-‐Maintenance-‐ Default Click the OK button to restore the default settings.
