How to Train Small Dogs

Some people underestimate training small dogs, thinking they have less energy and very easy to handle due to their small size. But in fact, they are usually very smart and sometimes more aggressive that bigger dog breeds. There are cases and videos of small dogs barking and over powering bigger dogs, a small dog mounting big dogs or other big animals, pulling tag and barking like crazy thinking they are big and powerful enough. Be a Leader. Some people took mistakes on over pampering and petting small dogs because of their cuteness or being too gentle due to their size which sometimes turns out to be an over spoiled pet. Enough exercise. As they need to drain some of their energy, implement a just right amount of exercise that is not too less or too excessive. Depending on the breed and age, let him do some indoor and outdoor play and run for couple of hours. A well-exercised pet is very well-behaved and healthy pet too.

Enough rest, too. Let your dog have his own bed to for small naps and long sleeps. Small dogs love to share beds too, but always have a special place for him to stay and lay down as a territory of his own. Enough sleep and good things to play with always make pets healthier.

Stop and control excessive behavior. Small dogs usually love to bark. Very aggressive and excessive barking is a sign of dominance. Make sure understand first if there is something or a feeling that bothers him before concluding he is barking for no reason and just plain over barking like for attention, showing dominance or on random things.
