Recognize the Signs of Pregnancy

Weight gain is one obvious symptom that your rabbit may be pregnant, but it's certainly not the only one. You can actually see and feel the fetuses moving around within her stomach, but be gentle if you touch her! She may also be more moody than usual and will prefer to be left alone. False pregnancies happen often, so if you want to be sure, take her to the vet.

Prepare for the Delivery

The gestation period for a rabbit is approximately 31 days, but this can vary depending on the size of the litter. Smaller litters will extend the pregnancy. If you're able to pinpoint the time of breeding, then keep track of the days on a calendar so you know when to expect her to kindle, or give birth. She'll begin to pull out her fur a few days before as she begins to nest. Provide her with a box filled with nesting material so it's there for her when she's ready.

• Your rabbit's diet will also need strict adherence. Her appetite will increase, and you shouldn't deny her. Give her more rabbit pellets than you usually would, and if she usually consumes vegetables, it's okay to continue feeding them to her. Always make sure she has fresh water available as well.
