The end of the school year is rapidly approaching.
You have spent the entire year passing on important information you hope stays with your students years to come.
When the end of the year comes, students to throw away all the lessons you have taught them.
You want them to build upon the information you have provided them.
Let me show you how your students can use Evernote to become lifelong learners.
What makes Evernote so
powerful for a student?
You can access Evernote from any device reducing opportunity to lose things.
Evernote has a desktop client that is a centerpiece of the program.
There are mobile apps for smartphones.
There are apps for iPads and tablets.
You can access Evernote anytime and anywhere.
You can access Evernote both on and off line.
Evernote is available 24 hours a day.
Most importantly, you can capture and organize ideas and important information wherever ideas occur.
You can add content to Evernote in countless ways.
Type in notes.
Create audio notes.
Take pictures.
With the Web Clipper you can capture Web pages as you find them.
Save notes from Kindle.
You can email yourself a note.
Scan documents to an Evernote folder.
Here are ways students can use Evernote to be better lifelong
learners.
All notes, handouts, assignments, tests, etc. are in one place, organized by date. No heavy bag to carry.
Students can take a picture of a book page, add their own notes, highlight important content, and it is now searchable.
If you need specific pages of a textbook to study from, take a picture to Evernote.
Scan or copy all handouts to Evernote and add class tags or add to notebooks.
Do you write your note, once done take a picture or scan them to Evernote.
Record the lectures with the audio note capability.
Capture whiteboard notes and tag them with the course tag.
Scan or save your homework to Evernote so that you always have a record.
Put together an assignment to do list with searchable deadline dates.
Teach students to be better researchers and writers by having them collect and organize their content in Evernote.
Develop and organize your research papers in one folder. Collect quotes, notes, and drafts.
Use the Web clipper to capture an important research note; it will have the time captured and url.
If you find something cool on the Web or in the world, you can send the picture to Evernote.
Here are content capture ideas that students can use.
Take a picture of the weekly course agenda.
Take a picture of lists, e.g. vocab lists, supply lists, etc.
Keep an online journal.

Take pictures of book covers that you want to read later.
Practice your language fluency. Or save sounds, e.g., language, music, lectures for later listening.
Label images with Skitch.
Track your locker combination, or other important numbers in Evernote.
Track club activities in Evernote.
Here are some recommended
organization and retrieval strategies.
First we will look as some tagging strategies.
Create a separate tag for each class, e.g., “English” or “ADED5240”
Create separate tags to media type, e.g., “class notes”, “handouts”, “quizzes”, etc.
Include deadline dates in the body or title in this format – 130427. Can then search for “1304” for all April 2013 items.
Here are some recommended notebooks to create.
Create a notebook called “School” and place all school documents in this folder.
Create subfolders within “School” for group projects.
Create subfolders within “School” for research projects. Place all quotes, notes, drafts, supporting material in this folder.
Create a subfolder within “School” for all important school documents, e.g., shot records, school handbook, etc.
Evernote searches are extremely powerful. Routine searches should be saved.
Set up searches for checkboxes that are not checked.
Search for deadlines for a month, e.g., “1304” for all April 2013 items.
