Recommendation for new snake owners
How you feed your snake can affect its temperament. If you want to be able to easily handle your pet and
avoid aggressive pet behavior, this is my recommendation:
Things to Consider Before Hand
Habitual Feeding ScheduleHabitual Feeding Location
This will keep your pet comfortable and not agitated, which reinforces docile behavior.
Getting Started with the Basic things which you will need
•Feeding Cage•Water Dish•Defrosted Bait
In Preparation always remember Consistency
•Defrost the bait; make sure you allow it to defrost in hot water, not in the microwave.
•While the bait is defrosting, remove the snake from the main cage and hold it for at least 30 minutes.
Follow These Steps:•Put the bait into the
feeding cage •Put the snake into the
feeding cage
•Secure the cage
•Wait till the snake has consumed the bait
Remember to give your snake some privacy, this will reinforce a relaxed atmosphere and not a competitive survival instinct .
• Allow the snake to rest for at least 30 minutes
This gives your snake a refractory period. You’re snake will be comfortable and ready to be returned to the main tank. This is not a time to hold your snake. Your snake needs time to begin the digestion process.
•Remove the snake from the feeding cage and replace it in the main
cage
And now you can enjoy feeding your
pet snake
Remember the more expectations you can train your pet to anticipate, the more comfortable and relaxed it will be, which means your pet will be calm, docile and nonaggressive.
