DESCRIPTION
How to get your webmix indexed high in Google, to attract more visitors to your webmix (and tiles on the webmix)TRANSCRIPT
Go to: http://www.google.com/sktool.
Enter the subject of the webmix, and choose onekeyword combination that has many monthly searches, and little competition.
Find a good keyword combination
Use the keywords that you’ve chosen at step 1 as the title of the page and also as on of the keywords for the webmix.
Eg.: for a school webmix you use: education, teacher, classroom etc.
Tip: You can be inspired by the Google tool too.
Keywords
Once you have set the right keywords, 50 % of the work is done. To rank high in Google you should start linkbuilding. This means that other websites have to link to your webmix.
6 IDEAS TO GENERATE LINKS TO YOUR WEBMIX
1. Write a blogpost about the webmix2. Ask a partner to write a blogpost3. Find blogposts and post a comment with a link to your webmix4. Find quality websites about the subject, send an email to the webmaster and try to get a link on his website. (in
return you could add his tile to the webmix)5. Approach the websites that are already on the webmix, in order to get a link back6. Add it to Digg, Delicious and Stumbleupon and ask people to hit it!
Linkbuilding
If you get a couple of websites linking to your webmix, it will help a lot.
But there’s one thing you should never forget: make sure the name of the webmix is clickable (the keywords you want to be found on!)
Eg.: Check our webmix about “[US History]”. Never use “click here to add the webmix”.
Anchor texts
To get even better results, please keep the following in mind:
1. The higher the Google pagerank of the page you get the link on, the more value the link has2. Pages with over 50 external links, are not interesting to have your link on3. The higher the link on the page, the more value it gets4. The more your keyword combination is mentioned on the website that links to your webmix, the
better.5. In the sourcecode of the website, you can see if there’s a “rel=nofollow” at the link. This way, it adds
limited or even no value for Google. If a webmaster links with the nofollow item to the webmix, try to convince him to remove it.
6. Don’t use URL shorteners such as bit.ly or Tinyurl links – they do not add any value to our ranks
