Introduction

I am a believer of self-education. Over the past few years, Ive

been reading great books, listening to audio books, spending

time with successful people, and attending seminars.

I love learning!

When I was making an inventory of my assets, I realized thatmy greatest asset is myself the books that I am going to write,

the knowledge and skills that I have acquired through the years

that would bless a lot of people, as well as the quality

relationship I share with my family and friends, my blog and

book readers, my peers and mentors in my chosen field, and

the people I deal with.

A few years ago, there was a compelling message I wanted to

communicate among young professionals. In one seminar that I

attended, I got an idea of writing a book. The first time it came

to mind, I became uncomfortable and anxious.

Yet, about three years after, my first book was published. And

after that, writing became second nature to me. I love writing!

In 2010, I attended major seminars in the Philippines almost

every month. Ive also joined some online clubs. A big chunk of

my money went to these learning opportunities.

I guess 2011 was my big break. I was invited to speak in the

seminars that I attended in 2010. From a paying attendee, I

became one of the resource speakers. Being a resource speaker

gave me opportunities to meet, dine, and learn from the other

speakers.

I was amazed at how fast my dreams were coming true.

As days go by, I have been meeting great people who share my

passion.

As days go by, I see new ideas about the books that I am goingto write.

Ive travelled to my dream destinations. In August 2011, I went

to Europe where I spent 14 days visiting great places in France,

Italy, and Spain. I also got to travel to some really interestingplaces in the Philippines, my country.

I got my dream townhouse, a 3-bedroom townhouse located in

a nice subdivision with friendly neighbors. I own a simple, low-

maintenance car.

I have a happy relationship with my family and friends.

My dreams were unfolding before my very eyes.

I thought about it. Was I just lucky? What have I done to attract

all these opportunities? What have I done to make my dreamscome true?

I realized that I have been doing some things consistently

through the years that have greatly contributed to my success.

In this book, I will show you how to make your dreams come

true.

Chapter 1

Be Clear about

Your Dreams

What are your dreams?

One night, my friend and I decided to hang out in a coffee shop

in Makati Business District (the business center in the

Philippines) not to converse, but to do our respective affairs

me, to work in my laptop and she to recollect with a pen andpaper. She warned me not mind her.

In the middle of my writing, I glanced at her and I saw that she

was staring somewhere far with a blank face as if she was

suddenly out of her mind. Then she smiled, and giggled, and

laughedby herself!

I asked her, Are you okay? And she said, Yes I am. I just

remembered something.

My friend had a peculiar way of recollecting but at least she

accomplished what she had to do she was able to lay down

her plans and dreams. As of this writing, shes now living herdream of exploring the wonders of Europe and she has been

there for more than two years now.

To help us know our dreams, there are two very simple

questions that we need to ask ourselves. There may be othereffective ways of knowing your dreams. To keep things simple,

Id like to present you these two questions, something that Ive

also learned from the books Ive read.

One, what makes you happy?

If money were not an issue, what profession would you like to

pursue?

Two, what do you do best?

Among the many talents that you have, where do you excel the

most?

Its very important that the answers to the two questions

should coincide for you to realize your dreams faster.

For instance, if recording an album makes you happy but you

are tone deaf, theres a very slim chance (maybe 0.05% chance)

that you would realize your dream of becoming a recording

artist.

I once dreamt of becoming a very good pianist. I took piano

lessons and I diligently studied my assignments. After months

of taking piano lessons, I was not able to master a single piano

piece.

Good thing theres one talent that I love doing and its also

what I do best writing! It is my passion. I feel this

immeasurable joy, this fire in my belly, this passion so

consuming when I write. So my dreams revolve around

writing.

One of my dreams is to become a best-selling author that couldinspire and touch the lives of thousands (or even millions) of

readers.

Be very clear about what you want. You should be able to

visualize your dreams like seeing it from a 20/20 vision.

The road towards your dreams may not be a smooth-sailing

one. Along the way, you may encounter setbacks, hurdles,

humps, and challenges. The key here is to keep moving

forward.

Do not give up just easily. If you were unsuccessful the first

time, try again and again and again.

Failure is a necessary part of success. As a CEO of Google Eric

Schmidt says fail quickly so that you could try again.

Chapter 2

Create your Dream Universe

A Dream Universe is the term well use to describe a dream

board that is as big as the universe.

Before I discuss further what a dream universeis, lets tackle

first what a dream board is.

The Dream Board

A dream board is a board where you put pictures or words ofthe dreams that you want to achieve. This includes the thingsthat you want to own, the places you want to visit, or someone

you want to become.

Ive always heard of the importance of making a dream board

but it was only until I heard from a multi-millionaire how

important it is to have a dream board that I created my veryown dream board. This multi-millionaire credited dream board

as one of the big reasons in achieving his millions.

So I created my own dream board and placed it in my bedroom

so I could see it every morning when I wake up and every nightbefore I sleep.

My dream board is divided into five parts Financial, Physical,

Relational, Intellectual, and Spiritual. In each of these areas, I

gathered my old magazines and cut down some pictures that Iwant to attract.

For example, in the Intellectual aspect, I cut and pasted a photoof a woman surrounded with books! This reminds me of my

love for books and of my dream to become a best-sellingauthor.

In the Relational aspect, I placed a picture of a lovely newly-

married couple who are dating somewhere in Europe. It is my

dream to go back to Europe for a one-month vacation with theman Ill spend the rest of my life with.

The Dream Book

Theres also a dream book. A dream book is similar to a dreamboard in the sense that you also paste pictures of your dreams.However, a dream book is more mobile. You could bring itwith you anywhere you go. You could also make your dream

book more detailed as compared to dream board.

Making a dream book is very simple. You could buy a clearbook from a bookstore and insert there the pictures of the

things you want to attract. The concept is similar to a photoalbum but instead of your photos, you put the photos of your

dreams.

Why is it so important to have a dream board and dream

book?

They keep us focused. As the Law of Attraction says, we are

inclined to move towards the direction of the things that weusually see or think about.

Having a dream board is similar to writing your dreams. Since

a dream board involves photos, this would make a greaterimpact because our minds are created in such a way that we

associate words with visuals.

The Dream Universe

Heres an interesting fact. You could make your dream board as

big as the universe. This is what well call the Dream Universe.Unlike the dream board and the dream book which are only 2-dimensional, you could make your dream universe 3

dimensional or even 4-dimensional.

What is this dream universe anyway? It is anything or anyone

that you see around you that reminds you of your dreams.

Let me share you a personal story so you could have a betterunderstanding on how to have your own dream universe.

As a young professional, I spend at least 10 hours a day 5 days

a week in my professional job. My job pays me well but Ive

always wanted to do more and give more.

Every time I go to work, the street vendors and the streetchildren never fail to catch my attention. I could imagine theheat, pollution, and hazardous environment that these streetvendors endure day in and day out. Yet, how much are theyearning in a day? I want to help them. I want to make time for

them.

An old couple who sell candies and newspapers in the

sidewalk of Makati Business District in the Philippines are very

dear to my heart. No matter how early I would go to work, Iwould always see Loloand Lola (Filipino term for grandfatherand grandmother or old man and woman, respectively) alreadyin a small corner of a large building patiently tending to thecandies and newspapers they sell. No matter how late I would

come out of work, I would still see Lolothere.

One time, I talked to the old couple. I asked Lolawhat time sheusually wakes up. She said that she wakes up at 3am so shecould fetch some water for them to use. Lolo, on the other hand,sleeps in the street to save on fare going home. Its such a pitiful

story considering that Loloand Lolawere somewhere betweenthe age of 80 85! At their age, they should have a pretty

laidback lifestyle, enjoying what they have worked hard alltheir lives. Unfortunately, they couldnt afford to do so.

Imnow based in another city kilometers away from Lolo andLolabut I always remember them. Every day, I would still see

the street vendors that I want to help.

In short, the street vendors, the street cleaners, and the street

children form part of my dream universe. Every time I see

them, Im reminded to realize my dreams of getting out of the

rat race as soon as possible and earn millions so that I couldhelp them in a more sustainable way. I am inspired to do mybest so that I could help the less fortunate people around me. Iwant to create jobs for them that could earn them decent

income. I want them to work in a safe and conduciveenvironment.

Another part of my dream universe is my cell phone. WheneverI hold my cell phone, I am reminded of my dreams for myfamily. I am reminded to be financially free so that I couldspend more time with them whenever I want to. I want to havemore than enough money so that I could treat them to nice

restaurants, I could tour them to great places, and I could giftthem with things that they truly desire.

Whenever I hear Filipino Best-Selling Author and one of themost-sought after speakers Bo Sanchez talk, I am inspired tobecome a better communicator like him. I am inspired to

become more generous like him.

Whenever I attend seminars and hear powerful speakers, theygive me a feeling of how it is to be where I want to go. Yes, Ialso want to become one of the most sought-after female

motivational speakers in Asia.

Whenever I get hold of a best-selling book, I could get aglimpse of how it feels to become a best-selling author.

My dream board is as big as the universe. I have a dreamuniverse. Wherever I go, they keep me focused, inspired, and

energized.

Okay, enough about me. I would like to encourage you to do

the same.

Start with a dream board. Think about your dreams. Findpictures of your dreams. Perhaps, its a dream house or a

dream car or a dream vacation destination. Paste the pictures in

your dream board and put it where you could always see it.

The Happily-Married Author

I met with some fellow authors in a coffee shop one night andwe had a beautiful conversation and exchange of ideas. Thisman in his 50s mentioned that he married when he was only 17

years old. He also said that he used to drink every day and he

never finished high school after 13 years and 6 schools.

Then I asked him, Are you still married to the same woman?

He answered, Yes, Im still married to my wife and weve been

married for 38 years now!

Wow! So whats the secret?!I asked.

And he took out his cell phone and showed us the picture of hiswife in his cell phone wall paper. He said, Whenever I look at

my cell phone, I see the picture of my wife. Its like her staring

at me and warning me not to do anything stupid.

We all laughed.

Thats the power of dream board. It keeps you focused on

whats important. Dont underestimate its power.

Go ahead. Create your dream board now.

Dont stop at a dream board. Create your dream universe so

that wherever you go, you would always be reminded of yourdreams and you will tend to do things that will lead you closer

to your dreams.

My European Vacation

This is so funny. In August 2011, when I was packing my thingsfor my European trip, I was looking for a notebook that I could

use to jot down my beautiful travel experiences. Then I saw thisblank notebook.

What did you notice? It has the word Europe on it.

And yes, I went to Europe for two weeks where I saw the

famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, France; walked the streets ofMadrid, Spain; and ate gelato in Rome, Italy; among the many

adventures I had while in Europe.

Was it a coincidence?

Then I looked at another notebook which I call my Idea Bank.

Its where I jot down my ideas and aha moments.

I was surprised to realize that it has the picture of the Eiffel

Tower.

Whoa! Perhaps my sub-conscious knew all along that I wantedto go to Europe and it helped my conscious mind organize my

activities and thoughts to realizing that dream.

Chapter 3

The Power of Little Acts

You dont get rich overnight in the same way that you dont

achieve your dreams overnight.

Once you are clear about your dreams and youve created yourdream board/dream universe to continually remind you of

your dreams, youve got to act.

You dont need to do one big act. Little acts done habitually

could be a starting point.

I love this tiny book written by best-selling Filipino AuthorAlex Lacson called 12 Little Things Every Youth Can Do to Help

Our Country. Key words: Little things.

Let me share with you some suggestions which you may want

to apply in your own life. Note that these suggestions could

apply to many of our dreams. If you have very specific dreams,I encourage you to update these little acts to tailor fit yourdreams.

1. Substitute entertainment with infotainment

I don't have a TV set at home. I deliberately didn't buy onebecause from experience, TV takes so much of my time. Yet,

watching TV doesn't help me achieve my dreams.

Usually after watching TV, I'd ask myself, "Now what? I justspent 2 hours of my precious time watching. What have I

learned?"I'm not generalizing that watching TV is bad as thereare some really good TV shows.

My friends would ask me, "What?! You don't have a TV? Sowhat's your form of entertainment?"

My answer is simple. Well, there's always the internet.

But my favorite form of infotainment (information plus

entertainment) is listening to audio books and talks from greatspeakers locally and internationally.

I love listening to Bo Sanchez talks which were sent to me

through my membership in his Truly Rich Club! His sense of

humor never fails to make me laugh, even if Ive already heard

the same talk over and over again.

After my morning prayers and while I get ready for work, Iwould listen to his talk. One of his talks usually last for 30minutes. So every morning, I get to listen to one or two of histalks. I find his talks very interesting and humorous. Some of

his talks include How Generosity Brings You Closer toAbundance, Believe in Yourself when Others Dont, Know

when to Quit, Create Money Machines, How to be a Superstar,

etc.

After listening for Bo Sanchez every morning for over a year

now, I knew I've become a different person. I've somehow

gotten some of his positive vibes... I've learned to be moreaggressive in my dreams yet remain gentle as a person.

I also love listening to Brian Tracy, Anthony Robbins, JohnMaxwell, and many other powerful and highly-paid

motivational speakers in the world.

2. Read a great book 30 minutes every day

Do you want to grow in your finances? Grow yourself.Increase your value. Money is a symbol of value.

I heard these lines from Bo Sanchez and the messages struck

me.

So how do you increase your value? One way is to feed your

mind by reading great books.

I love visiting the bookstores every now and then. I look for thebest-selling self-help books, browse a little, and if I liked what I

read, I would buy the book. I love shopping for books!

I love reading. When you read, you get transported to anothermedium. You also get a glimpse of how the authors think. It'slike entering their minds and seeing things from theirperspective. Cool, isnt it? :D

Here's a challenge.

Devote 30 minutes of your time every day to read a great bookwritten by a great author. Read self-help books. Read spiritualbooks. Read good fiction.

You will be a changed man.

The Editor-in-Chiefs story

I remember a story from the talk of Filipino best-selling authorAlex Lacson.

He had a shy roommate who dreamed of becoming the editor-in-chief of their university official paper. Every 8pm, hisroommate would drop whatever he was doing. From 8pm-9pm, he would read great works of great minds until it becamea habit

After 365 days, or 365 hours rather, his roommate became adifferent man. He continued doing his reading habit. When hewas in his senior year in college, he took the editorial exam andhe passed. He realized his dream of becoming the editor-in-chief! Thats the power of little acts.

3. Devote one hour of your time each day to something that

you love doing.

What is your passion? What do you love to do?

Devote one hour each day to doing what you love to do.

I love writing. It's my way of expressing myself. Before, I usedto write just for myself. It's like a diary where I write things thatI want to release but I don't necessarily want other people to

know.

I also write my thoughts when I have an important decision to

make. Seeing my thoughts on paper makes decision-makingtangible and easier. And so I devoted some time each day towrite.

book!

Today, I could write a short e-Book in one day. I wrote my firste-BookHow to Earn While on Vacationin one day. Of course I

had to have my friend edit it and I had to rewrite it. Then I hadto find a graphics artist to do the book cover. The whole process

of writing the eBook to publishing it in my website took lessthan three weeks! You can download the eBook for freeHERE.

I couldn't have done this if I didn't practice everyday.

Think about it. What is that one thing that you love doing?

Perhaps it's playing the piano.

Give one hour of your time each day. Rest your hands on thepiano and start playing. Do this consistently and you will soon

achieve your desired results.

Perhaps, it's taking photos.

Devote one hour each day looking at great photos, studyinghow the photographer composed the shot. Try doing it usingyour own camera. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Perhaps, you want to be a great parent or a great child.

Commit one hour each day to bond with your loved one. Itcould be as simple as dining together or playing together or

watching a good movie together or listening to his/her stories.

Dont limit yourself to one hour. You could increase it as you

wish.

You say you don't have time?

Do you watch TV? Do you spend hours checking your

Facebook? Perhaps you could cut down one hour from these

activities so you could give that time to yourself.

Oh there are other little acts you could do to achieve your

dreams.

Epilogue

Sha, write a book. The first time this entered my mind, I

became so uncomfortable.

Me, write abook? Thats so ambitious, Sha! Itold myself.

I had many excuses.

I was too young to write. I wasnt really a writer.I didnt know

anyone (from the publishing industry) and no one knew me.

But then I persevered. I kept on writing and writing andwriting. I sought mentors. I read great books. I attendedseminars. After two years, the book is written. Things fell into

place and my first book was finally published in 2011. My

dream came true!

You may be experiencing the same. You may have dreams inyour heart but you think achieving them is close to impossible.

Just remember to be very clear about your dreams, surround

yourself with people or things that would constantly remindyou of your dreams (remember the Dream Universe?), and dolittle acts each day to make them a reality. Soon, you would

also see your dreams unfolding before your very eyes.

Theres one more important component that will help us bring

closer to our dreams. Pray for your dreams. Ask God to bless

you and help you realize your dreams.

And yes theres more! Live your dreams not just for yourself

but for the others that would be blessed by your dreams your

family, the people around you, your friends.
