  • Monday, June 7:

A change in the current outlook June 7 – “Market in confirmed uptrend”

    Why?

    That day, the Nasdaq staged a Day 4 follow-through with a 1.7%

gain in higher volume on that exchange vs. the prior session.

A weaker than expected U.S. jobs report for May (net 75,000 jobs

added to payrolls) boosted the likelihood that the Federal Reserve

will cut interest rates and lower the cost of money.

  • 4 Distribution Days: 6/21, 6/25, 7/8, 7/16

    • Forward 12-mth S&P 500 earnings estimate:

    $175.83 (Yardeni Research, July 11)

    • S&P 500 close on Friday: 2976

    • Forward “earnings yield”: 5.9% (175.83

    divided by 2976, times 100)

    • This beats the 10-year U.S. Treasury

    yield of 2.05%!

  • What’s Next?

In the long run: Still on course for a secular bull market. 1) low interest rates (fed funds may go to 2%-2.25% target on July 31)

    2) no “earnings recession” yet

    3) dollar weakens a bit, but still strong; inflation gauges still low

    4) U.S. innovation ongoing, entrepreneurship unbridled

    5) High-quality IPOs (Examples include KL, ZM, ZS)

    6) The market still rewards growth: IBD 50 shows a 17.4% CAGR

    (4/11/03 to 3/29/19) vs 9.9% CAGR for the S&P 500.

    7) Other factors may include a divided Congress; low interest rates

around the world; and the global rise of the digital economy.
