Growth Group Homework – May 22, 2016How to Make a World of Difference: A Different Perspective

Warm-Up1. Have you had any opportunities to share God’s grace with others recently?

2. What was your top concern this past week?

Talk it Over3. What part of this week’s message stood out to you and why?

4. What are some of the things that you get angry about? What rights are they attached to?

Which of those rights do you think others owe you, and which do you think God owes you?

5. Read Luke 12:13-21. What would you say are the top concerns of the people in this story? What might be some of the rights they claim to have?

What is the perspective shift Jesus is pointing out to them, and what do you think it means to be rich towards God?

6. How do you think the rights we claim to have could get in the way of sharing our faith? What has been your experience in this area?

Bring it Home7. Bevan challenged us to pick three people who we come into regular contact with and that do not go to church anywhere. What are some of the ways you can invest in them over the summer?

What are some of the barriers that might make it hard to invest in them? What steps can you take to shift from a “what about me” perspective to a “what about them” one?

Memorize: Matthew 6:19-21 Additional Reading: The Book of Jonah

In this week’s message, Bevan explained how the thought that tends to dominate our lives and keeps us from making a world of difference is, “What about me?” We need a change of perspective if we are going to make a world of difference. A change from our rights to others’ needs for God’s grace, and a change from focusing on the temporary to the permanent.
