You can begin working out your calf muscles by getting 2 dumbbells and holding one on each hand. Leap forward with a broad step with knees bent till your legs outline a ninety degree angle to the ground. Pause for a few seconds and then lunge forward again with the other leg. Repeat the routine about six times.

Plyometric work outs can also increase the height of your bound. Plyometric exercises involve placing your feet flat on the ground with space between them. Allow enough space as wide as your shoulders. With knees bent, stretch your arms at ninety degree angles. Leap upwards while throwing your arm up over your head. Repeat this routine ten times.

You can also use a rope to strengthen your calf muscles. Leap on your toes to put more pressure on your calf muscles.

You can also stand on the edge of a step using your toes. Push yourself up and down with just your toes on the edge of the step. Repeat this about 30 to 40 times and increase the frequency later on.

Another exercise calls for something more challenging. Put your right foot on a bench and jump as high as you can manage.

Scissor your legs in the air and then land on your left foot on the bench and your right foot on the floor. Do 3 sets and 10 reps for this work out. You can also do a different version of this exercise by jumping backward from the bench to the floor.

Your calf muscles will also be worked out by tip toeing for fifteen to thirty minutes a day. Walk on tip toes forward and then shift backwards for five minutes. You must remember to warm up before you exercise and then cool down after each exercise. You should be fit and strong before trying the more challenging exercises.

Wearing weighted vests and ankle weights while performing these exercises will hasten your progress. You should also eat healthy food and drink a lot of water especially during your exercises. Staying hydrated will give you more energy to do more exercises. It is also healthy to replace lost fluids while working out.
