How to Join a Webex Webinar

Want to log in from a mobile device?

1. Download Cisco Webex Meetings: https://www.webex.com/downloads.html

2. See page 12 for directions to join using mobile.

We open the classroom 15 minutes early to help users with technical issues.

Plan to log in 5-10 minutes before the starting time in case you need help.

How to Join a Webinar: Desktop

• Dial the conference call number and enter the passcode listed in the email.

• Note we do not use Webex calling features.

1. Dial in to the phone line

• Using the email we sent, click the button to Join the Webinar.

• This link will open the Webex log in screen in your web browser.

Mobile users: note the meeting number. Go to slide 12 for more.

2. Go to Webex using email button/link

• The Webex log in screen will open in your browser.

• Enter your information under Join Event Now.

• Please add your Agency to your name when you log in.

• Password auto-fills (and is included in email, as backup).

• Click Join Now.

3. Sign into Webex in your browser

• Joining Webex for the first time? You will need to add Webex to Chrome.

• Click the button Add Webex to Chrome to launch the Webexapplication.

• After launch, Webexwill run as a separate application on your desktop.

4. Run the Webex Application: using Chrome

• Webex is starting – it may take a few minutes to load.

• Having trouble? Stuck at 99%? See the Next Slide for some workarounds.

5. Webex App is loading

• In the popup window, click Join Event to confirm the meeting you are joining.

• This is a local firewall, you will need to contact your IT department to resolve it.

• For now, cancel the password prompt and run the temporary application (an *.exe file).

• Click this link at the bottom of your browser to install the *.exe file.

DID YOU GET A PROMPT FOR AN “ADMIN PASSWORD”?

If you’re having trouble with this workaround, try the mobile app.

Trouble? Click Run a Temporary App

• Webex should open in new window.

• Note that Webex runs as a separate app on your desktop.

• If you don’t see the Classroom, or are still in your browser, click the ball icon to bring the Classroom to the front:

How to Join a Webinar: Mobile

• You can use your phone line and the Webex app at the same time to join the webinar.

• This is a good workaround for firewall and IT issues if you have trouble logging on from your desktop.

• Open the email we sent in your mobile device.

• Dial into the conference call number and enter the passcode.

• In the email, note the Meeting Number and Passcode (only for mobile).

• Then click the button to Join the Webinar. This will launch the Web Ex app for you to log in.

Make sure Webex Mobile App is installed on your device.

Sign into Webex: Join

In your browser, select Join.

Join Meeting in the app

• Click Join Meeting

• Enter the Meeting number• Enter your First and Last Name, Agency• Enter your email address• Click Join

• The app should launch on its own and take you into the Webexclassroom.

• You will see icons at the bottom of your screen to participate in the classroom.

We will NOT use video.

• Call in! We open the classroom early to help resolve your technical issues.

• If Webex asks for an admin password, join using the temporary application (*.exe).

• Try a different web browser.

• Materials will always be posted at our website. As a last resort, join the phone call and follow along with the PDF.

Having Trouble?

Academy Rules of Engagement

• Webinars start on the hour.

• Log in 5-10 minutes early to troubleshoot any technical difficulties.

• Sign in with your first and last name, followed by your agency (ex: Jane Smith, BLM).

• Use *6 to mute and unmute during the presentation to reduce background noise.

• If you need to take a call, hang up and call back in when you are done. Do not put the conference line on hold.
