How to Get 10 Free Licenses for Nonprofits from Salesforce.org

As a nonprofit you may be eligible for the Salesforce's Power of Us program. Through this

program, the Foundation provides a number of benefits to help not-for-profit institutions work

more efficiently and improve communities around the world. Benefits include:

· 10 free Enterprise Edition licenses

· Deep discounts on additional licenses, products and/or services from Salesforce

· Discounts on Salesforce training

· Discounts on Salesforce events

· Access to nonprofit specific user groups, events and webinars

· Discounts on participating Apps and consulting partners from the AppExchange

What you will need

Your federal employer ID Number (EIN)

A PDF of your 501c3 letter or proof of nonprofit status

An agreed upon user name (in the form of an email address)

A dedicated system administrator with email account

The appropriate approval from your organization’s leadership structure

HOW TO GET IT

1. Go to Salesfore.org: There is a .com version

of these organization with a commercial

site. DO NOT GO THERE.

2. GO to Salesforce.org to ensure you will be

receiving the no-cost, non-profit version.

3. Once at the page, click on the “FREE

TRIAL” tab in the upper right hand of the screen. [You may see a lot of other interesting

tabs (e.g.: Salesforce for Nonprofits), please skip them for now. You can come back to

them later.]

Once on this new page, everything you are looking for will be near the middle of the page. You

will find 3 important information points.

The first is the information line and chat bar (circled below). There are people at the other

end of those lines that are waiting to help you, if you have any questions.

The second is the “TRY IT NONPROFIT (30 DAYS FREE). This is how you will receive

access to the Salesforce.com platform. You will have to start a free trial and then submit your

application to continue as a nonprofit/no-cost user. The tab to start the application is just

below this tab.

Third, the APPLY tab, which allows your organization to apply. It is through this application

that the trial access becomes the more permanent, free nonprofit version.

TRY IT NONPROFIT (30 DAYS FREE)

Click on this tab when you are ready to start your FREE TRIAL. You will have to start a free

trial with Salesforce.org before you are able to apply for the 10 free license with the Power of Us

program. Click on the tab and it will bring you to this page.

Once on this page, select the “Enterprise Edition” at the bottom of the page. (Please note: the

+NPSP and + NGO Connect version will have a cost connected to them and are not free with the

program.)

The name and email entered here will should belong the system administrator. The user name

can be the same as the email of the System Administrator’s

Once you have begun your free trail, and can log in and out of the Salesforce.com platform,

you are able to apply for the nonprofit status

APPLY

Now that you have a Free Trail Version of the Salesforce, and more importantly, you will be able

to Apply for the 10 Free Licenses with the Power of Us Program.

You will have to return to the page shown below. Click on the APPLY tab.

The Power of Us application, has SIX sections in the application. Here is are the important point

of each section.

1. Welcome – In order to begin this process you have to log in, but this is not a problem

since you have started your free trail and now have something to log in with.

2. Readiness – The answers to these questions will not affect your organization’s eligibility

to qualify for this program. It will ask you questions about your knowledge of

Salesforce.com and Salesforce.com products. You will have to spend some time

answering these questions to continue, and they may suggest that you purchase trainings

or products that will better your understanding of the platform. YOU DO NOT NEED

TO BUY ANYTHING IN THIS SECTION. You are able to continue after completing

the readiness survey.

6. Submit – review and submit

Important Note: Applications to the Power of Us program must be submitted within the 30

Day trail period.

You are able to apply directly after getting your free trial. Your system administrator will be

notified with approval notice. The turn-around time for approval should not be too long. We

received ours within two weeks. You are always able to call Salesforce with questions, or call
