Six pieces every Facebook contest needs to succeed

Do not use an iPad. Do not use an Amazon Gift Card. Pick an incentive that aligns emotionally with your fans and feature it in an image in the campaign.

ONE  

Your campaign will not convert if you don’t encourage the fan or viewer to take action now (before they get distracted). Based off our tests, the best way to do this is with a countdown that has 7 days or less left on it.

Create Urgency

Do not be vague. Tell your fans exactly how they win by featuring the email opt in on the first step. Bonus: Easily integrate the campaign entrants into your email marketing program (AWeber) and put them on a drip campaign that encourages campaign re-engagement.

Every Facebook campaign must make it easy for fans or campaign entrants to market your campaign to their networks. By asking the fan to like, FB share, and tweet, your campaign will get free traffic from their social networks.

Do not jam your brand into a rigid Facebook Contest template that doesn’t allow your brand voice to come through. Include your logo in the upper left and a description of the campaign in the bottom right to highlight your brand voice and personality.

48% of Facebook’s Daily Users only use mobile. If you don’t publish and market your campaign with a smart URL, you are cutting your likelihood of success in half.
