How to create external and internal links in content using WordPress

Write your content with suitable words for your contextual link to a relevant website.

Highlight the words or phrase you wish to make into a link.

Click on the link icon which has now been activated.

Find your destination website that is relevant to your contextual link in your content, and copy its URL.

After you’ve clicked the link icon, the Insert/edit link menu will appear. Paste in the destination website’s URL in the top content field.

Type in a relevant title that describes the link.

Check the ‘Open link in a new window/tab’ box below. This is so you won’t lose your blog once the visitor has clicked on your link.

Don’t forget to click on the ‘Add Link’ button.

Your phrase is now a hypertexted link, which will become active after you’ve published your post.

To create an internal link to one of your pages or posts, type in your content with suitable keywords or phrase that describe or match the destination you wish to link to.

Highlight the words you wish to make into a link.

And click on the link icon that has become activated.

Click on the ‘Or link to existing content’ link to bring down a menu containing your published content.

Use the search facility to help find the correct page.

Click on the correct page to automatically fill in the fields above.

Uncheck the ‘Open link in a new window/tab’ box.

And click on the ‘Add Link’ button below.

Your words are now a hypertexted link which will become live after you’ve published.
