How can I change my password? LCPS Users can now utilize LCPS GO to change the password of their LEAD account. This can be accomplished from any Internet Connected Device, using Google Chrome. This document outlines how to use LCPS GO to reset your own password, and what steps must be taken to configure your LCPS GO profile to perform the password reset when needed.

- Access http://go.lcps.org in your Google Chrome Browser o Google Chrome is currently the only supported browser for use with LCPS GO. o Password Change functionality is not currently supported in the LCPS GO application.

Setup Password Recovery Options for Forgotten Password In order to take advantage of the Password Change capabilities of LCPS GO, the end user must configure their personal Password Recovery Options. Users can select up to 3 notification methods that can be used when a password reset is needed. If all three options are configured, the user will have the option to choose which of the three notification methods they would like to use to perform their password reset.

o Only One (1) notification method is required for Password Change capabilities.

- Below are the three (3) notification options, and a brief explanation: 1- Mobile Phone

a. User will receive a text message with an access code that will need to be entered to access the password reset function.

2- Email a. User will receive an email with a clickable link to perform a password reset.

3- Questions a. User will choose three (3) security questions and provide answers. When a

password reset is initiated, they will be asked to successfully answer these three questions in order to gain access to the password reset function.

1- Login to LCPS GO, and access your Profile Options via the drop down arrow located in the top right

corner of the screen a. Once the drop down menu has been selected, Choose the My Profile button.

2- Then select Password Recovery Setup

a. Mobile Phone i. The user should enter their cell phone number to receive a text message with an

authorization code. b. Email

i. The user should enter a valid email address where they can receive an email message which will contain a clickable link to reset their password.

** NOTE: It is recommended to use a non-LCPS email address. If an LCPS email address is used, and the user forgets their password, they will be unable to gain access to the Identity Verification link to perform the password reset.

c. Questions i. The user will pick three questions from the available drop down boxes, and supply

answers. Users also have the option to create custom questions.

Mobile Number 1- Enter your personal cell phone number in the Phone Number field and choose Save. 2- After you receive a Text Message with your verification code, select the Grey Verify Button

3- Enter the verification code and select the Green Verify Button in the pop-up window.

4- Once your mobile phone number has been verified, a Green Verified icon will appear.

Email 1- Enter a valid personal email address that you have access to receive email communications, and

choose Save

2- Once you choose Save, an email will be sent to the supplied address. This is your verification email, once received you will need to click on the included URL to perform your email verification.

Questions 1- The user can choose from the list of pre-populated questions, or create their own personal

Custom Questions. a. To create a Custom Question, select Custom Question from the drop down and supply

the necessary information. 2- Once your three questions have been answered, Choose the Save Questions button

***We recommend you type in all lower case letters***

Performing Password Resets The four most common instances where a user may need to reset their own password are as follows:

1- The user has forgot their password. 2- The users’ current password has expired. 3- The user is new, and this is the first time they are logging in with their new account 4- The user would like to change their password for other reasons (ie. ‘On Demand’ pw change)

- If a user needs to reset their password, they can click on the “Help, I forgot my password” link

on the main LCPS GO webpage. This can be accessed by opening http://go.lcps.org in your Google Chrome Browser

1- On the Reset Password screen, enter your Username in the Username Field, and leave the Code field populated with lcps

2- Choose which of your three options you would like to use to receive notification to verify your

identity prior to changing your password. a. If no Password Recovery Options have been set for a user, the Password Reset

functionality will not work as expected.

Choose a Password Reset Option - This section briefly details what users will be presented when you choose one of the three

Password Reset Options.

1- If the user chooses Questions, they will be met with a prompt to supply answers to the three

questions that were configured in the ‘Setup Password Recovery Options for Forgotten Password’ section. Remember, your Answers are Case Sensitive.

a. Once your answers have been entered, Select the ‘Check’ button.

2- If the user chooses Email, they will be sent an email to the address supplied and configured in

the ‘Setup Password Recovery Options for Forgotten Password’ section. a. Click on the provided link sent to your email address to reset your password.

3- If the user chooses SMS Text, they will be sent a text message (standard message rates apply) to the mobile number supplied in the ‘Setup Password Recovery Options for Forgotten Password’ section.

a. Enter your received code into the Code field, and then Select the ‘Check’ button.

4- Once you have completed your Identity Verification from one of the above methods, you will be prompted to enter a new password twice, and then Select the ‘Check’ button.

5- Once your password has been successfully changed, you will receive the following message.

Examples

- Below are three common examples of how a user can reset their passwords.

Reset an Expired Password 1- If a user attempts to login with an expired password, they will be met with the following screen.

2- The user must enter their old ‘expired’ password, and provide a new password twice to confirm. 3- Once completed, Select the Submit button.

Perform an ‘On Demand’ Password Reset 1- Login to LCPS GO, and access your My Profile section, via the drop down arrow located in the top

right corner of the screen a. Once the drop down menu has been selected, Choose the My Profile button.

2- On the General Tab scroll down and select Reset Password.

4- On the Reset Password screen, the user must enter their old ‘current’ password, and provide a new password twice to confirm.

5- Once completed, Select the Submit button.

6- If your password is changed successfully, you will be provided with the following screen.

Reset a Password of a new user account 1- If a user is new to LCPS, and their account has just been created. They can reset their password

by attempting to login to LCPS GO with their new accounts temporary password. Upon entering the username and temporary password, the user will be met with the following screen.

2- The user must enter their old ‘temporary’ password, and then provide their new password twice

to confirm. 3- Once completed, Select the Submit button.
