How will we be working?
• Our focus : Latest news from latest research• No copying from other sites• No searching for Medical news from BBC,
CNN , Guardian or any other sites
![Page 3: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
HOW TO GATHER CONTENT AND FROM WHERE????
• Good NEWS is its easy. We’ll be searching latest scientific journal articles and making news of our own.
• And yes it’s the same technique BBC ,
CNN and guardian guys follow.
![Page 4: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Where we will be searching?
• Best way is to begin with PubMed• What is the site for PubMed and what is
PubMed? • PubMed is world’s largest database of
scientific and medical journals. The site is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/
![Page 5: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
How to begin
• Use keywords to search for articles. For example if you need latest researches going on about “paracetamol” or “AIDS” or “Swine Flu” or whatever. Just type your keywords...articles will now show up. The latest articles related to your keywords show the dates when those got added on PubMed.
• Figure on next slide
![Page 6: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Full screen view, Red underline

• Open your desired article….. it will show “Full text Icon” on top left corner , click on that to open full article…If its not free access it will either now show that icon or just provide abstract or the summary of that research…so you will have to make news based upon that.
![Page 8: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Note red texts, full screen view
![Page 9: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
• Other similar ways is to search articles on google scholar. www.scholar.google.com
• Find the latest articles and make the news.
![Page 10: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Next way : Searching speciality journals using google
• Type Journal of “Speciality on which you like to write news on”
• For example I will type “Journal of Gastroenterology”
• Add “open access” keyword to ensure it’s the open access journal which gives you all its articles free…… Image on next slide
![Page 11: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Note Red texts and arrow on full screen view. I choose BMC from list cause I find it trustable. Once you make habit you’ll automatically have ability to filter trustable
journals
![Page 12: How to begin writing medical news](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062401/58f09d3e1a28ab002f8b45bf/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Note the latest tab inside red circle. Some journals provide just dates and if doesn’t provide any of them search for “Current Issue” menu that provides
latest articles

WARNING FOR GOOGLE SEARCH TECHNIQUE!!!!
• Please make sure the journal which you’re searching should not be in the list that can be opened by following link

Notes
• Do not copy even a single sentence of article. Write it in own words…If you’re writing from a open access journal use quotation. For example you can write : This research says “copied sentences” but don’t copy too many words…….
• Provide the reference at bottom.• See example of the format here

When we can write using other sites BBC heath, CNN, guardian etc???
• If the news are hot and concorrent• If the news challenge recent trends and
methods• However it should be written in your own
words and you should try to write article using the paper through which it was written. Every medical articles provide references. Go through that reference and make own news….
