Module 1: What Is Abundance?

Great question. You know, a lot of people wonder, “What is

abundance?” What’s it going to take for me to get where I want to

be, what even is it that I want to achieve, where do I want to go,

what do I want to be, what do I want to ascend to, and you know

what, there really is no one answer.

If you think about it, what you think of as abundance today is

probably quite a bit different than you thought about it ten or

twenty years ago. Even if ten or twenty years, taking you back that

far, would take you into your childhood, no matter what age you

are, let’s say you’re 60 and ten or twenty years would take you

back to 40, or you’re 30 and ten or twenty years would take you

back to age 20 or even age 10. Your ideas were probably quite a

bit different then.

Now why is that, if abundance is this thing, I mean, if there were

an answer to that question, “What is abundance?” then we would

just answer the same way every time. We, as people, would all

answer the same way, and we would answer the same way every

time, because it wouldn’t be effected by who we are, nor would it

be effected by time. But, it’s not like that. Abundance isn’t like

that. It’s much more dynamic than that.

So a question that forms in my mind when I hear that question is,

“what is abundance for me right now, and what is that I’m working

on, what do I want to manifest?” If I am working on something

and I want to manifest it, it’s probably, hopefully, it’s something

that I want to do, it’s something that I feel deep down in my heart

that I want to release. For example, when I created my Hypnosis

Certification Program, the very first one that I created that was

online, I had this desire in me to manifest that.

I wanted to create that, because I had been flying around teaching

hypnosis here and there, and I thought, “wait a minute, the internet

here, why don’t I just create it online?” So I had a desire to

manifest that, and for me, that was abundance at the time. If I

could create an abundance of knowledge online, that’s what I

wanted to do, that’s where my focus was at that time.

So, again, to answer your question by really opening it up more,

the idea is not what does this finite measurable thing that we call

abundance, but what is it that you want right now, what are you

working on? You’re probably not creating a hypnosis certification

program, I mean you might be, but for you it’s probably very

specific that’s different than what I thought might be abundant at

that specific time and place that I thought that. By the way, now

I’ve achieved that, and I feel it is abundant, I feel it’s great, it’s had

me go on to more abundance. But what is it for you right now?

So, think for yourself, what is it, everybody just do this right now.

What is it that you want to achieve? What is it that you are focused

on, what would it be, that thing, that if you achieved it, you would

feel so good?

Maybe it’s really specific. Maybe it’s a program that you’re

working on, maybe it’s a degree that you want to get, maybe it’s a

vacation that you want to take, maybe it’s a relationship that you’re

in or that you want to make more powerful. It can be anything for

you, but what is that thing? So think about that right now.

And if you achieved that, that thing, wouldn’t you be at least a

little more abundant? Wouldn’t your life open up just a little bit

more? So I propose that abundance is nothing more than achieving

something that you want to achieve that opens your universe up, at

least a little bit more, if not a lot.

So, a lot of people get caught up in this, and they start to think,

“Well, abundance means I’m rich, abundance means I have a lot of

things, I have a boat, and a car, and a big house, and I have really

nice clothes, and I go to really nice restaurants, and my friends are

all rich, and I feel really good about that.” You know, you can

create these pictures, and that might be your idea of abundance,

and there’s nothing wrong with that, but I want you to realize that

that doesn’t have to be abundance.

People get caught up in material thoughts, and there’s nothing

wrong with that, I want to emphasize that, there’s absolutely

nothing wrong with that, and if that’s what you want that’s fine.

But what I’m saying is that abundance can be anything you want it

to be. It can be an abundance of fun, an abundance of friends, an

abundance of travel, an abundance of knowledge, an abundance of

love, an abundance of ability, it can be any of those things or all of

those things. So when you think about your possibilities, and you

think about opening your mind up, and opening your possibilities

up, rather than looking at what everyone else is doing, and

thinking, “I’d like to do it just like that, because that’s what

success looks like, when I have that, that’s what it looks like, and

I’m going to do that.” So rather than focusing on that, what if you

were to just open up your mind to the idea that abundance is

anything that you want.

So that’s why I say, think of something right now that you want,

and as you think of it, just imagine having it. Imagine having

achieved it, whatever it is, maybe it’s something you want to get,

you want to get some form of education, you want to go

somewhere, you want to have a certain type of relationship, you

want to start creating something, you want to open a business,

maybe it’s a job you want to get, maybe it’s a promotion, it can be

anything. But imagine yourself having it right now. Don’t you feel

more abundant? Don’t you feel as though, hey, you know, now I

have new possibilities, new opportunities?

Now if you don’t fee that way when you think about it, that’s a

great test, because maybe the thing that you’re focusing on isn’t

really what you want. Now isn’t that fascinating. Sometimes we

get so caught up and going through the process of doing something

and it becomes a schedule that we do it every day, well we’re

working on this thing, this is what I’m working on, this is what I’m

doing, of course I’m working on that. But they lose sight of the

fact that they really don’t want to do that thing.

Now sometimes people do, but I’m just saying, that if you thought

about that thing, and thought about having already achieved it and

it wasn’t very exciting for you, maybe that’s not something you

really want. Maybe that’s not something that’s going to contribute

to your abundance at all, maybe you’re working toward something

that you actually don’t want, that you actually don’t want deep

inside. What if that’s going on?

Now I’m not saying that that’s what’s going on, please understand,

I’m just telling you that if you think about having what you say

you want to have and you don’t feel more abundant thinking about

it, I suggest to you that maybe you don’t really want that. So let’s

do this again, let’s do this exercise again.

Let’s think about something that makes you feel good, something

that you like to do, you enjoy doing it, and you would do it

whether you got paid to do it or not. Think about that right now,

what is that thing, it could be anything, maybe it’s snowboarding,

maybe it’s traveling, maybe it’s just sitting on the couch reading a

book, maybe it’s watching tv, who knows. It’s something that you

enjoy doing. Maybe it’s something of a professional nature, maybe

you’re a doctor or a nurse or a teacher and you would enjoy doing

those things even if you don’t get paid. And that’s okay if that’s

your thing, so think about the thing that you would do that you

really enjoy doing, you enjoy it so much that you would enjoy it

even if you didn’t get paid. And in the case of sitting on the couch

and watching tv, you wish you could get paid for it because you

enjoy it so much. Hey, don’t be shy here, if you enjoy relaxing

there’s nothing wrong with that. So if that’s your thing, then think

about that.

But the test is, would that make you feel more abundant? If you

could get paid to do it, would sitting on the couch reading a book

or watching tv make you feel more abundant? Hey, if it would,

there are jobs like that. There are jobs you can get paid for it read a

book. There are jobs you can get paid for to watch tv, to analyze it.

I have a friend who I knew back when he worked in Los Angeles

at a studio, his job, this is a job, he got paid for this, he was an

executive, his job was to go watch movies. Not only that, but he’d

get movies sometimes before they even came out in the theater,

and he could watch them at home in his living room, just watch the

movie. Oh, and then there was another part he had to do, he had to

type up some thoughts about it, any kind of thoughts, any kind of

thoughts at all. There wasn’t a checklist that he needed to go down

to talk about certain aspects of the movie. Nope, anything he

thought about. That was his job, this was a high paid executive.

He’s moved on since then, he’s gotten a promotion since then,

since he had that difficult job of watching movies and writing

down his thoughts, typing them up and sending them in and going

to watch the next movie. Amazing. So, my point is, even if you

think of yourself in your ideal state doing what you really enjoy as

just sitting and watching tv, I want to suggest to you, that’s not

ridiculous. If that’s something you enjoy, you can find a way to

monetize it, you can find a way to make a living at it. There’s a

way to make a living at anything. Look at the reality tv shows on

tv, there are people whose jobs it is to drive around and pick up

lumber in trucks and drive it somewhere else, and there’s nothing

wrong with that.

I keep saying there’s nothing wrong with that, but there’s really

nothing wrong with that. And, better than that, better than just

having a job that they apparently enjoy, and that’s fine, they have a

reality tv show. These are reality tv stars that do this, because

people are watching them do that. There are shows on ice where

people work with ice in various capacities, people watch that.

People watch people doing what they do if it’s different from what

they do, so I can look into this work and I can see you on reality tv

doing something silly or something crazy or something unusual.

Well I don’t have access to that in my everyday life because I’m an

average person living an average life. That’s what the person

watching tv is thinking. And so I get to see you doing these

extraordinary things and I want to watch that. That’s why we

watch tv, because no matter who you are, no matter how cool you

are or no matter wonderful things you have access to, there’s

something on tv in reality tv that is not ever going to be part of

your life. Maybe living in a trailer in the woods, maybe you don’t

ever plan to do that, but somebody has created a show about that

where you can watch that.

So, my point is, that whatever your passion is, and I say this all the

time to people, whatever your passion is, even if it sounds

ridiculous to you, if your passion sounds like something that’s

ridiculous, even when you say it, I want you to realize that there

are people who are highly successful multi-millionaires who had

what you might consider a crazy idea for something that nobody

would ever want to watch, and they made millions off of that. Not

only that, but they get residual money, they keep making money.

So, own it, whatever it is for you, whatever abundance is for you

own it. So when you think about that, when you think about what

is abundance, abundance is the feeling that you get when you stand

in possibility. When you stand in opportunity, and sometimes you

stand in front of a blank slate, because you know you’ve already

painted, or chiseled, or carved out something before, and now you

have an even bigger canvas to paint on, or a bigger piece of rock to

chisel out. That’s what abundance is, that feeling that you get that

you know you have the possibility to create something in an

unlimited capacity.

And another question is, how does optimism play a role in

achieving abundance? I think optimism is the main ingredient in

abundance, because if you think about it, the idea is that you are

imagining something that you want to move into and then you’re

making it real. And if you don’t have positive thoughts about that,

if you don’t have the idea that you can actually do that, that this is

actually going to work, that this is something real, then for you it

just becomes an exercise in daydreaming, and daydreaming

doesn’t produce anything. I mean, daydreaming can produce

something if you harness those daydreams and put them into

actionable items and make them happen, but if you’re just thinking

about doing something, and you’re not doing it, then you’re not

actually getting anywhere.

For example, this program. I’ve been thinking about creating this

program for awhile, but if I just continued to think about it and

didn’t take any action, didn’t actually get it done, didn’t make

something happen in the real world, then all the optimism in the

world wouldn’t matter. Optimism’s great, but if you’re not doing

something, if you’re not making something happen then you’re

really not getting anywhere.

I remember going to see Lisa Nichols talk, I think we were in

Costa Rica, we were both talking at the same seminar and I went

into the room when she was talking, and she was saying that

people come up to her after her being in the movie The Secret and

they say that they want the genie to make everything happen, they

want the genie lantern to appear from the genie and everything’s

going to happen, so there’s some kind of magical lantern and the

genie appears and perhaps lets them doing something with the

lantern, and she said, there is no genie. There is no genie. There is

not an actual genie that’s going to show up, because people get the

idea that they’re just going to have a genie.

I remember during this time when The Secret first came out, I

would get calls at my office and people would say, I remember we

had one guy who would call in at least once a day for a couple of

weeks because he was adamant about getting his personal genie.

He really thought that he was going to get a genie. So when Lisa

Nichols likes to set people straight, there is no genie. But what is

there?

There’s optimism. Optimism. And you already have it, you already

have the ability to do this, you already have what you need. So

optimism, that’s why I say, it’s the main ingredient in abundance,

because if you don’t believe that you’re going to have what you

say you want, and hopefully it is what you really do want, we

talked about that already, then it’s probably not going to happen.

Because if you’re not optimistic about it, if you don’t believe it’s

going to happen, then you’re not going to take the steps to make it

happen, unless you force yourself to do that, kind of like how a lot

of people get through high school, their parents force them to

school.

I wasn’t so much into studying, I got sent to military school, you

marched to class. We got forced to study. Luckily it caught on and

then I followed it up with academic study after high school, but if

you are not optimistic about it, and no one’s making you do it, like

the military school, then it’s probably not going to get done. So

that’s why I say, not only is optimism part of abundance, it’s really

the key ingredient. I think a lot of people think, “Hey, if I’m

greedy, then that’s bad, but isn’t this idea of, hey I can get all this

stuff, and I keep getting more stuff, and I can be abundant with all

of my stuff, isn’t that the same thing?” I mean, isn’t that the

definition of greed, that you have something and you want more,

and you keep wanting more, and keep wanting more?

Well, I would suggest that it’s the definition of open consistent and

highly productive manifestation and I think that people get caught

up in this idea of greed. They start to think, “hmmmm, maybe I

don’t deserve that.” And sometimes these things are arbitrary, or at

least they seem to be, I mean, if you’re thinking about something

that you want, and you’re thinking, “ah yeah, I could get that, it’d

sure be nice, but that’s what greedy people go after, I’m not a

greedy person, I’m a good person, I’m a really good person, I think

that I’ll just not get that because to get that would just show greed,

and I don’t want to show greed, because I’m not a greedy person,

I’m a good person.” I think a lot of people have that type of

conversation in their mind. I mean, it may not be that exact

conversation that portrayed but it’s something like that.

They think, “you know, if I start to go after all of this stuff, I’m

just going to be like so-and-so that has all this stuff, or such-and-

such that has all this stuff, so I’ll just live in lack, because that’s

what good people do, they suffer, they live in lack, they don’t

really have everything they want, and that’s ok, that’s ok, because

the important thing is they’re good people.”

So I think people get caught up in this idea of good being equal to

non-abundance and bad, or evil, being linked to abundance. And I

invite people to let go of that, let go of that idea, because for me,

the only test is, “am I hurting someone, am I not serving the

greater good when I pursue this stuff, is anyone being damaged by

what I’m doing, is anyone becoming less fortunate because I’m

becoming fortunate?” If I’m having to step on people, if I’m

having to hurt people or lie or deceive, I don’t want any part of it, I

do not want to be associated with that. But if what I’m doing is

helping people and leading to something that gives them hope, that

they can believe in, then I want to be part of that.

And that to me is abundance, and that’s what makes the difference.

Now I understand that a lot of people don’t have that ability, let’s

say, or at least they don’t think they do. People can look at me and

go, “oh that’s easy for you to say, Dr. Steve, because you have

such a great job, you create abundance programs, and you get to

record audios, and those are really powerful and positive for

people, and so of course it’s easy for you.” Is it? I mean, did this

just happen, did I just appear here out of nowhere, did I just drop

from outer space and suddenly I’m recording audios about how to

be more abundant, is that how this happened?

I don’t think so, because I seem to recall 30+ years of working and

creating and striving to make this happen, and passing up on deals

that I didn’t think were right, and always sticking to what I believe

in like higher education, that’s what I remember happening. I don’t

remember just arriving here. So I’m telling you today that

whatever you’re focused on, whatever you want, you can create it

if you start making the moves in that direction.

And if you make the moves in that direction you’re going to find

that everything becomes easier. But until you start that, moving in

the direction of doing things that serve the greater good and don’t

hurt people to achieve your abundance, until you start moving in

that direction, you’re going to find that there are going to be some

barriers, and there should be. You should be stopping yourself

every now and then saying, “you know, this just isn’t for me, this

thing I’m doing because I just wanted to get money, this just isn’t

for me, it’s really not the best use of my talent, it’s not serving the

greater good, I’m not going to do this anymore. I’m going to make

a plan to change that.”

So once we make that change, once we make that shift, then we

start seeing how abundance is a lot different than greed. That

Module 2: How Can You Use The Law of

Attraction to Achieve Abundance?

What a great question, and I think that that is probably the number

one question I’m asked. When I’m with Dr. Joe Vitale I can defer

to him, I can just say, “that’s a good question, Dr. Joe Vitale, can

you take that and answer that question?” But I have my own

feelings about the law of attraction and abundance also.

As a hypnotherapist, and as a person with a doctorate in education,

I tend to think of things in terms that at least I consider to be

logical. I want things to make sense to me, I want things to be

measurable if possible. I mean, let’s face it, if something is a law,

then it should have something that can be measured, you can

measure it, you can quantify it, you can replicate it. That’s how I

know that something is a law, so when we talk about the law of

attraction, I want to make sure that you understand that I’m coming

from a place of ideas that I feel can be replicated.

These are things that I believe in, these are things that I’ve used,

things that I’ve done, things that I’ve seen the results of, so,

whereas I do believe there is a metaphysical component to it that

we are not yet able to quantify, that we don’t have the

instrumentation to evaluate and measure properly, I do believe

that’s there. And I do believe it’s just a matter of time until we’re

able to pinpoint it and see it and measure it. I think science is

getting closer to that, to understanding how those things work,

especially with the introduction into our society of things like

quantum mechanics. We understand that we’re out of the realm of

even Einstein, not to mention Newton, we’re so far beyond that

now, we’re into the world of random possibility, we’re in the

quantum world now. We’ve always been in that world, but we’re

just starting to figure out that we’re in that world where something

can be in two places at the same time. Think about that, it’s

difficult to think about that, it’s difficult to make that make sense

in your mind, yet that’s what quantum science is telling us,

something can actually be at two places at the same time. Does that

sound crazy?

I’m not talking about you can think that those things are in two

places at the same time, that one thing is somehow perhaps become

to things or itself in some other reality, I’m not saying can you

think about that, I’m telling you that is science, that is science, that

is reality, that is, as far as we know right now, fact. And this is not

people who are in metaphysics only who are saying this. This is

people who study hardcore sciences, things that people call the real

sciences, I’m talking about physics, chemistry, I’m talking about

things that when you think of science you think of that class you

took in high school when you mixed things together and you

measured things and something was rolling and you took

measurements. I’m saying that the current teaching in that world is

that something can be in two places at the exact same time.

So, science is starting to figure out the metaphysical world, it’s

starting to figure out the fact that we don’t really know as much as

we think we know. The fact that we are just beginning a very long

and detailed journey into a very fascinating universe that we know

very little about. We’re just now starting to realize that we don’t

really know very much at all, and our science fiction movies are

starting to show this. They’ve been showing it all along, you ever

notice science fiction, you watch science fiction, when I was a kid

we used to watch Star Trek, in the 60s, crazy stuff, one guy, he was

a doctor, and he had this thing he could hold in his hand that could

somehow scan someone and give him information about what

might be wrong with them. That was crazy stuff in the 1960s,

crazy talk, that’ll never happen. Yeah, and then it did. And it keeps

on working that way, the things that we look at now in science

fiction that look into the future 50 years or so are showing you

what’s coming up next, in a lot of cases, I’m not saying in every

single case, but in a lot of cases, keep seeing something in a movie

and it’s coming up next.

Now, there are a lot of scary predictions in movies, I’m not saying

those are coming up next, but I’m saying technology. Technology,

when you look at it, in science fiction you’re getting a preview of

the future. Maybe 50 years from now, maybe more, maybe less.

And remember, not everything you see in science fiction is

actually going to happen, but a lot of it does, because a lot of it is

based on ideas that are being worked on now, that are being talked

about theoretically, if we only had this missing part, if we only had

more power, if we only understood this or that. And then guess

what, we figure it out, we find that missing piece, we find that

missing part of the formula, somebody has a breakthrough and we

figure it out, and next thing you know we’re flying into space,

we’re sending messages daily constantly, across very large

distances, transmitting more and more data, more and more

quickly. The size of storage is becoming smaller and smaller and

we learn to condense, condense, condense, make things smaller

and smaller and smaller. So we’re getting more into a smaller

place, and we’re doing it over and over, we’re continuing to do that

and there are certain laws about that, Moore’s Law.

Now when we talk about Moore’s Law, we’re talking about simply

an observation somebody made. A guy named Gordon Moore back

in 1965, he was simply observing, he saw that the number of

transistors per square inch on integrated circuits was doubling

every year, it would just continue to do that, every year. So

Moore’s Law predicts that this trend will keep going into the

foreseeable future, it would just keep going. So, we’re getting

more and more and more into smaller and smaller and smaller

places, and so this is what’s happening with technology.

So it’s no longer the idea that you talk about things in terms of

they’re just being one of them, and it’s in one place, and that’s it.

Well now we know that something can be else, would you say,

because an object can be in two places at the same time. So we

have this new understanding of the universe thanks to science, we

have something that’s a little closer to what we understand is going

to one day perhaps help us know everything. But how far along are

we really, and how do we know that percentage? I mean, we could

be 10% along, in terms of all knowledge, if there were 100% of

knowledge that we could access, and we could say that we’re 10%

along, but how would we know that, because we don’t know the

full amount of knowledge available.

So, we have no idea, we have absolutely no idea at any time where

we are. If we did have an idea of where we are, then we probably

would have already completed the journey, because in order to

know where we are in our understanding of technology in any

point in time, we have to know how much there is to know, and we

don’t know that, we don’t have that information. So, because we

don’t have that information, we have no idea where we are.

Think about it, we’re floating through space, technology-wise,

knowledge-wise, moving toward understanding more, scientists

studying all the time, learning things, quantifying things, and none

of us have any idea where on the map of technology we are. We

don’t know how much there is to know. So when you see science

fiction, you see something and you think, “that’s insane, that’s

crazy, that’ll never happen.” Realize that it not only will probably

happen, but it keeps happening, it continues to happen. What I

mean by that is, the things that you saw as a kid, assuming it’s

been awhile since you were a kid, maybe some of those things

came true. Or maybe some of those things that your parents

thought were ridiculous, were crazy ideas, were completely

unnecessary, or no way will that ever catch on, maybe some of

those things are part of your everyday experience right now. And

part of your parents’ everyday experience, maybe they’re using

them, maybe it’s a cell phone, maybe it’s an app they’re using, but

it keeps happening. Technology keeps moving forward.

So even with all of that, even with all of that happening, science

still does not have the ability to explain everything that goes on

with someone. Why do some people get better, why do some

people get better when the doctor says they’re not going to get

better, and the doctor has no idea why they got better, how does

that happen, how is that possible? If the doctor knows everything

about the body, because they studied science, and they know this

person cannot get better, and then they do, how does that happen?

And people will say, “oh it’s a miracle,” and I’m not saying it’s

one way or the other, I’m just putting the question to you. How can

that be?

Well, it’s simple. Because doctors, just like every other type of

scientist, don’t know everything. In fact, they don’t know how

much they don’t know, they’re not aware of where they are on the

map. And that’s ok, and that’s nothing against doctors, because I

for one appreciation doctors. I was born with club feet, if it weren’t

for doctors I wouldn’t be able to walk, I would’ve never taken my

first step if it weren’t for doctors. So I am a big believer in medical

science. I was born with jaundice, I was born with a hematoma on

my head because of the way they had to pull me out, I was born

with club feet, I had a lot of things going on. If we didn’t have

doctors I’m not sure I’d be making this recording right now, and I

certainly wouldn’t have comfortably walked over to the chair that

I’m sitting in to make the recording.

So, I’m a big believer in doctors, but what I’m saying is that

science doesn’t know where it is on the map, and so when we look

at something, and we say, “well, that doesn’t sound right, because

science doesn’t back it up.” What I’m saying is that science keeps

changing every day, and there may come a time when it does back

it up. Or maybe not.

So, getting back to the main question when I answer that type of

question that has to do with the law of attraction, sure, there’s one

way of looking at it, where you can look at things as metaphysical

and you can look at them as unexplainable and you can look at

them as living in the world, existing in the world with rules and

laws, perhaps that we not only don’t understand but will never

understand. You can look at it that way, and that may be your view

of metaphysics.

My view is that it is highly explainable, we just haven’t gotten

there yet, because we have people looking at things right now that

are happening and thinking they’re science fiction. We have people

looking at something that people may call miracles or change

that’s unexplainable and saying that can’t happen, that’s not

possible, that’s not something that can really happen based on the

science that I have, based on the science that I know. But it did.

And it does. And it’s going to keep doing it.

And so I’m saying that it’s perfectly explainable, we just don’t

have the tools to explain it yet. So, my idea of the law of attraction

is that we are dealing with something that does have some laws,

that we can quantify, we can understand them. We just don’t have

the way to measure them yet.

So when I answer a question like how would you use the law of

attraction to get what you want, to get abundance, to create in your

life, to have more, I’m talking about that thing that is quantifiable.

I just want to be very clear about this, I want to be very clear about

where I stand on the law of attraction, because it’s important to

understand that you can look at things in one way and someone

else can look at it in a completely different way, but you’re talking

about the same thing. So I just want to be clear about how I view

law of attraction.

I see it as an actual science, I see it as something that is real and is

true and does work, we just do not have the tools to describe it yet,

because science has not caught up with it yet, it’s not something

that science has advanced far enough to actually measurably

understand. So, we have something that is very powerful and very

real, yet not very quantifiable.

And in the book I wrote about this, it’s called You Can Attract It,

Frank Mangano and myself, we wrote it, and we talked about some

things that are actually quantifiable, some things that you actually

can measure. So science is actually catching up, that’s the good

news, science is catching up. We put in an entire reference section

in the back so you can see these studies, but science hasn’t caught

up to everything.

So when I talk about the law of attraction, I talk about something

that I believe is actually real, and just like everything else it’s

measurable. Money’s measurable, height, weight, those are

measurable, the law of attraction is measurable, we just don’t have

a way to measure it yet.

We can measure height with a yard stick, we can measure weight

with a scale, we can measure money, how much money someone

has in the bank, we can get numbers on all of these things, we can

get data, we can track them over time. That’s why it’s so

wonderful to work with people, when I get to work with people

and I help them lose weight, I can help them measure that. I myself

have lost 30lbs in the last year, because you know what, last year, I

said to myself I’m going to make a change, I’m a little bit

overweight, starting to see some videos that I’m in and I’m not

liking the extra belly there. So I hired a dietician, I hired a trainer,

and I work out three days a week and I don’t ever miss a day, and I

eat what the dietician tells me to eat when I’m supposed to eat it,

and I’ve programmed myself with hypnosis to make those changes,

and I stuck to it, and it worked. That’s all measurable, I can

measure every calorie I’ve eaten, I can measure every sit-up I’ve

done, it’s all measurable, and I can measure the amount of weight I

lost. That’s why helping people lose weight, make more money,

those things are great because you can measure them, it’s a score

board, it’s like you’re at a game or something, it’s like you’re

watching a football game or something or whatever sport you may

be into, you’re watching the game and you’re seeing points on the

board. And you say, “oh, the other team’s catching up,” and you

start to gain a little weight, “other team’s catching up,” and then

you start to lose weight, “ok we’re winning again,”, it’s exciting

because it’s quantifiable.

I believe the law of attraction is that way too, unfortunately we

don’t have the ability to quantify it yet. But you know what we do

have the ability to quantify? Success. We have the ability to

quantify outcomes, we have the ability to quantify what it’s

producing, and so in an indirect sense, we have the ability to

quantify the law of attraction.

Now you might say, “wait a minute now, that can just be anything,

that can just be anything happening, we don’t know that’s

quantifying the law of attraction, because it can be any number of

things happening.” Well I would suggest to you that those number

of things are happening because this individual is starting to

believe in him or herself and starting to take steps forward and

nothing happens in a vacuum. I would say to you that these things

aren’t just randomly happening. Oh they just happen to happen

now, lucky for that person, they just happen to get that job that

they finally applied for. No, these things don’t happen in a

vacuum, they happen as a result of each other. They happen

because there’s some consistent effort forward.

So what I’d like to share with you as we talk about abundance and

as you learn how to become abundant, the takeaway I want for you

is that you’ve got to get into action. There has to be action. There

has to be forward motion of some kind. Nothing happens until you

start taking action.

And that’s the big takeaway from what Lisa Nichols talks about

with the genie. There’s no genie. There’s not a person who’s going

to show up and make things happen and do it all for you and set it

all up. No no no. This is a concept that the creator of the film was

using to impart the idea that you can manifest what you want when

you start believing in yourself. When you start to look inside

yourself and find, first of all, what you want to do, we talked about

that in the last module, but second of all, what you want to do that

you believe you can do, and want to actually have it come true, and

when it does come true, you will be able to stand in the possibility

of creating more.

That’s a big difference between “I’d like to do this or I’d like to do

that” and “I’d like to manifest this and I’d like to manifest that.”

See a lot of people get caught up in the idea of doing things, “I

should do something today, alright, so I did a bunch of stuff, I feel

good, I’m going to watch tv and go to bed, and I’m going to get up

tomorrow and do some stuff, I’m going to do some stuff, I’ve got a

list of stuff I’m going to do. I did my stuff, I’m a good person, I

did my stuff.”

And I’m not saying that that’s not a good person, it’s that if you fill

your life with a bunch of stuff to do and it doesn’t mean anything

and it’s not going anywhere then you’re really not manifesting. So

what I’m talking about, when you get into the idea of using the law

of attraction, first of all, something measurable, we don’t really

know how to measure it, we don’t know how to measure the law of

attraction.

So if someone says, “what units is it measured in?” we don’t have

that information yet. But I’m someone that likes to help people,

I’m a hypnotherapist, I’m an NLP Master Practitioner, I’m a life

coach, I’m a business coach, I do all these things, now mainly I

identify myself as a clinical hypnotherapist, that’s what I mainly

identify myself as, but I have these other certifications too, and

these other skills, and I like to work with people, and as that type

of person, I’m into measureable outcomes.

And when I see people use the law of attraction, I see them getting

outcomes, when they do it the right way, when they really believe.

Because when you really believe, you go for it, you just make it

happen and you get that outcome, you know how that works. So

that’s what I’m interested in, I’m not really interested in the

mechanics of it. one day we’ll be able to measure it, I’m sure of

that, but I’m not really interested in that. I’m interested in

outcomes. I don’t really care how the car works, as long as it takes

me to the airport. I don’t really care how the plane works, as long

as it takes me across the country. I don’t care how my bed works,

as long as it allows me to sleep restfully.

So I’m not really that into the mechanics of the law of attraction,

I’m into outcomes because I get paid good money to get outcomes,

to produce, to make things happen, so that’s what I want to see.

And when I see people using the law of attraction I see outcomes.

So when you look at how to use the law of attraction to achieve

abundance, it’s really a matter of taking into consideration these

things I’ve shared with you about manifestation, making things

happen, believing in yourself, and applying them and realizing that

it is, in my opinion, a science that has yet to be discovered fully

and understood fully. If you have understanding of it then let me

know, because how do people suddenly get better when there’s no

way to get better? How does that work?

What I’m interested in would be outcomes, and so the way to use

law of attraction to achieve abundance is first of all realize that

there are a lot of things that we don’t understand. Second is to start

believing in it, just start believing in, I’m not talking about the law

of attraction, because remember I’m not interested in the

mechanics and so forth, start believing in what you want to

achieve. Start believing in what you want to get, where are you

going with this, what are you using it for? I’m not concerned about

the airplane, I’m not concerned about the car, I’m not concerned

about the mattress, I’m concerned about the service they provide.

What do they do? Why would I want them, why would I care about

them? So, that’s what I’m focused on. So, focus on that, focus on

the thing that you want to create, so you use it by believing in what

you’re going to do, believing that it’s going to happen, being

optimistic, believing in that thing and then going for it, acting as if

it’s going to work out.

Module 3: How Can You Use Hypnosis to

Achieve Abundance?

Great question, and I think the main thing people want out of that

is to be able to get what they want to get. I mean, again, I’m all

about the outcome because I work with people, I get paid to

produce the outcome. So when we talk about using hypnosis to

achieve abundance, we should have an outcome in mind, we

should have a target in mind that we want to get to, a target weight,

a target amount of money, whatever it is we’re working on we

should have that in our mind.

And once we do, then hypnosis becomes kind of easy to use,

because we’re just applying a known series of steps and using

those steps with our goal in mind. So, hypnosis, for me, that’s how

it occurs in my mind, that’s how I think of hypnosis, when I think

about it, I think about the idea that, ok, I can use step A, B, C and

D, and I put in there the type of thing that I’m working on, and step

A, B, C and D work toward that goal.

So if I want to work on goal #2, I’m still applying steps A, B, C

and D, I’m just applying them with goal #2 in mind. I don’t have to

create that completely separate set of steps. So I want to share that

with you so that you understand how a hypnotherapist thinks about

achieving goals. You’re using hypnosis to get there, and it’s going

to be essentially the same procedure, basically the same procedure,

with a few changes, because you’re after something different –

confidence, motivation, abundance, whatever it may be. But you’re

using the same steps.

So that’s great news. So when I start to use hypnosis to achieve

abundance, for example, all I have to do is the procedure that I

would normally do for any hypnosis session and I just put

abundance in there. So I think at this point it would be very helpful

just to review a hypnosis session, review how to do it, review the

parts of the hypnosis session. But specifically, with this in mind, so

we’re talking about using hypnosis to achieve abundance, so as

I’ve said, we need to have some sort of target outcome.

What do we want to get? So let’s just say that our goal is to have

$10,000. $10,000 in a savings account by next year at this time.

Now, for you, you might be thinking, “$10,000? What am I going

to do with that, I mean, that’s just $10,000.” Or you might be

thinking, “wow, $10,000, wouldn’t it be great if I had an extra

$10,000 just sitting around?” So you may be anywhere in that

spectrum, and I don’t know, so I’m just picking $10,000 as a

number that we can look at. If you want to change that in your

mind so that it works better for you, that’s fine, and if you were to

actually create a hypnosis session for yourself, which I hope you

do, then of course you’re going to change that number. But I just

wanted to have something to talk about.

So whatever you think about $10,000, just let that go for now, and

realize I’m just picking a number that I felt would be not too high

by any means, and it’s certainly something that would get

someone’s attention, if you say $10,000, people don’t just, no

matter who they are, they’re going to pay attention. That is an

amount of money, so I wanted to pick a number that I felt would

be relatable and you may have to adjust it quite a bit, and that’s ok.

So we have that goal in mind, we want to achieve that. Now, I

want to reiterate what I’ve been saying all along, which is that

abundance can be abundance of anything. So the fact that I’m

picking money, I don’t want you to feel that this is something that

would necessarily be the focus, especially because this program is

interviewing me as a millionaire helping you achieve something. I

want you to really understand that what I’m teaching you how to

do is to achieve overall abundance and you can apply it to money

or cars, or gold, or houses, or boats, or whatever you want, or an

abundance of friends, an abundance of fun. But in this example,

we’re using $10,000 because it’s measurable. It’s in the relatable

zone and it’s measurable.

So, let’s just go for it. Our goal, in this hypothetical hypnosis

session is to have $10,000 to our names in a bank account one year

from now. Move it up, move it down, it’s up to you, but I wanted

us to have a number that we can work with. So, what are we going

to do? We’re going to create a hypnosis session around that. So

that’s the goal we’ve set up.

Maybe for you it’s a million or ten million, or maybe for you it’s

$1,000, that’s ok, but you’re going to set up a structure around that

now. You see how a hypnotherapist thinks? Target first, structure

later. What are you after?

I’ll tell you, when someone comes to my office and they want to

lose weight or they want to stop smoking or make a certain amount

of money, that’s a lot of pressure. Think about it, think about being

in my position, unless you are a hypnotherapist or life coach or

therapist of some sort. But think about that, there they are, they

want to do that. They’re expecting that to happen. Now that’s

actually good news, because as you learn, at least when you study

hypnosis with me, you learn that when someone is on board with

you, and when they have expectations it’s actually going to help.

So that’s actually good, it’s very good for you to have that, to have

them focused with you, wanting the same thing.

So when the client is after something, you have to deliver. Or at

least take your very best shot, sometimes the client lets the client

down, and that’s not something that I can control. Sometimes it

just doesn’t work, and that happens, that’s life. Heart surgery

doesn’t work every time unfortunately, but that’s life, that’s reality.

So we have our target, we’re going to go for it, we’re going to

create the structure around it, remember, target around it, then

structure around the target. There’s no sense building something to

get to something if you don’t know what you’re getting to. I mean,

if you’re going to travel and you need to build a vehicle to get

there, you don’t know if it’s going to be by air, by land, by sea,

you don’t know what you’re going to do. How are you going to

build a vehicle to prepare for a trip if you don’t even know where

you’re going?

So target first, where are you going, where do you want to end up,

and then the structure gets built around it. So $10,000 is our target,

that’s what we want, $10,000 in some account a year from now.

We’re going to build a structure around it. The parts of a hypnosis

session are actually quite straightforward.

You have five parts: an induction, deepening, script, amnesia and

trance termination. Those are the five parts, that’s the structure

that’s going to be built around the goal of us having $10,000 in the

bank, or whatever number it is, in a year from now.

And so, we want to work backwards. Well, some of the work is

done for us in hypnosis. For example, you have the induction. Well

we know we want that to be about ten minutes, twenty minutes

long, and it’s going to be describing a relaxing walk on the beach,

or a relaxing walk in the woods, or floating on a raft in a pool, or

whatever it is that relaxes us. And by the way, people ask me this

all the time, does it matter if I say “I” or “you” when I’m recording

it, like “I am relaxing on a raft in a pool,” or “you are relaxing on a

raft in a pool.” No, it’s doesn’t matter, to the best of my

knowledge, to the current best of my knowledge, it doesn’t matter.

I have yet to see a study on that, and if you have seen one, please

send it to me so I can update my information, and you should also

apply that information. Some people just assume that, “ok, I’m

making it for me, I should just say I, it’s my voice after all.” But

what if someone else makes a recording and they say you, does

that mean it’s not going to work? Of course it doesn’t mean that.

So I haven’t seen any reliable research on this, so if you do, go for

it, and let me know.

So you’re creating a recording and the induction is going to be

about ten to twenty minutes, and you’re talking about that relaxing

thing that you’re doing. Walking on the beach, walking in the

woods, relaxing on a raft, whatever it is, you’re just describing

that. You’re not attempting to get yourself into hypnosis yet.

And then you are intensifying that. So if the relaxation was

happening on a beach, in the induction, the deepening is going to

be perhaps the sun setting, the sun sets from 10 to 1 and the sun

sets lower and lower. Or if you’re walking in the woods the

deepening could be going down a hill, as you go down, as you

count each step down, you relax more and more deeply. So it can

vary depending on where you are.

So those things are fairly set, the induction follows a certain

pattern, you see how the structure starts to form itself around what

you want. And then the deepening within the story that you’re

telling, within the narrative of the hypnosis session, the deepening

intensifies the induction.

And then comes in the interesting part. It’s kind of like at this point

all we’ve done, if we were surgeons, made an incision and opened

the chest cavity. How helpful is that for a patient who is not doing

well? It’s a big waste of everyone’s time if nothing happens.

You’re just opening up the patient and then closing them back up

again, you haven’t actually done anything. You’ve wasted a lot of

time and a lot of skills and a lot of money.

But if you do something, then you get the outcome, everything

works out, you get the outcome. So you do something, that’s the

script, that’s all the script is. It’s the thing that you do. Why did

you open the chest cavity as a surgeon? Why did you make the

incision there, what are you after, what are you going to do? That’s

the script.

The script answers that question, and programs the person to do

that thing. So, for example, if we want to have $10,000 or

whatever number it is for you in the bank a year from now, the

script is going to program us to have that. And I always like to talk

in the here and now, as if the surgery has already happened, as if

the heart transplant or cleaning of the valves so to speak has

already happened, because sometimes the valves of our

moneymaking abilities get a little clogged up, because we start

thinking negatively about ourselves. And so we’re going to

perform a procedure that’s going to open that up for us, it’s going

to allow it to unclog so that we can flow, so that everything can

start working for us.

So that’s what the script is, it’s the thing getting changed, it’s the

transplant, the old ideas and putting new ideas in, it’s the changing

out of something, it’s the adding something positive, or subtracting

something negative, it’s giving us the motivation we need and

taking away the restraints that we feel and the self-criticism that

we use to hold ourselves back, and it’s allowing us to move

forward. That’s what’s happening with the script, and that’s why it

the most exciting part. It’s also the most important part, and

without it you haven’t done hypnotherapy. Hypnosis, but you

haven’t don’t hypnotherapy, the way I define it. You haven’t

actually changed anything.

Now, different states in the United States have different rules, by

the way, about using the word therapy, hypnotherapy. Always look

into that with an attorney, well worth your time if you’re a

hypnotherapist, this part’s for you. Well worth your time to look

into it, see what your specific area in your country, your state

allows you to call yourself.

But, getting back to the script, the script is going to program the

person for change, and that’s what we’re talking about, the

difference between a hypnosis session and a hypnotherapy session.

Hypnosis would be opening the chest cavity and closing it back up

again, haven’t done anything, wasted everyone’s time. Now,

hypnosis is also relaxing, but in a case like this, when you’ve gone

through all of the effort to do something, you might as well put

something positive there, that’s what I say. Some people just like

to experience hypnosis, and that’s fine, but I never, ever do a

hypnosis session without saying something positive in there. I’m

going to use that opportunity to help them. I’m not just going to

put them into hypnosis and take them out.

You’ll even see stage hypnosis people do this. Stage hypnotists

will put someone in hypnosis, have them do a funny show with a

bunch of other people on stage, and at the end, at least my friends

who do stage hypnosis shows, at the end they’ll give them

something positive. They’ll put something positive in their minds,

they’ll say something good, something that’s going to help them

move forward. And that’s good, because why open the chest cavity

and then close it back up when this person very likely has

something that they need to work on, they need something going

on in there.

So that’s the script. The script is delivered in a very

straightforward way, you no longer need to use the flower

language of the induction or the deepening where you’re

describing everything. And by the way, in the induction you want

to describe all five senses, something to see, something to feel,

something to taste perhaps, something to smell, something to hear.

So wherever those senses come into play, you can use them in that.

But by the time we get to the script, we’re really talking about the

idea that you’re just getting the information in their minds, you’re

just programming them, you’re just programming yourself in this

case, you’re making a recording. There’s no need for flowering

language, there’s no need to beat around the bush as we say in

America, there’s no need to dress up what you’re saying. You’re

just programming, programming, programming, as if you’re

talking to a computer, because at this point you are. You’re talking

to your subconscious mind, and it doesn’t know the difference

between this and that. It doesn’t know the difference between real

and not real, for example.

If you tell it that you have $10,000 in the bank right now, even if

you don’t, if you tell it that, it doesn’t understand the difference

between real and not real. And, more importantly, it’s going to

look for a way to resolve the tension that may be created from that,

because on the one hand, you’re saying and programming yourself

that I have $10,000, on the other hand, in reality, back on planet

earth in reality, you really don’t, that’s ok. We know that.

Talked about two objects, or one object being in two places rather

at the same time, so we’re not fooling ourselves and thinking that

your $10,000 is in the future and is also in your bank account or

some sort of mental gymnastics like that, that’s not what’s going

on here. We are programming your subconscious mind with

information that is not actually verifiably happening, or real, at this

very moment, and that’s ok. Because your subconscious mind is

going to find a way to make it happen, and I’m emphasizing this

because this is a place where so many people get stuck, and they

get stuck in their reality, and they get stuck in their loops, and they

get stuck where they are, because they do not understand the idea

that you must think about the next step as if it’s already happened

if you want to be able to manifest it.

So, if you want to get to the next place in your life, you have to

imagine that it’s already here. And that’s why it’s so each for

people to get their second million, have you heard about that? Oh,

if I lost everything, I could get my second million easily, I could

do it easily.

I believe that. Think about that, do you believe that? I know you’re

not able to answer now, you listening to me, after I’ve recorded

this, you’re not able to answer me now and that’s ok. But think

about that, think about if you believe that. I completely believe

that, because they know the pattern, they know how to get there.

They wouldn’t make all the mistakes they did the first time, they

would go right to it, they would do it the right way. That’s why I’m

always shocked when people don’t listen to rich people. People say

they want to be rich but they don’t listen to rich people, they don’t

do what the rich people do.

I’m shocked by that. I don’t think people really want to be rich, if

they’re not doing what rich people do. Why wouldn’t they? It’s a

pattern that you’re applying that works. It’s been shown to work,

you can see that it works, you can see that they’ve gotten rich. So

you should do that, if you want to.

So there’s a structure to all of this, there’s a structure to everything,

there’s a structure that you can work within. And your

subconscious mind does not like the lack of things being right, and

right means, “yeah, I believe it, and I see it, yeah I believe there’s

$10,000 in the bank, and when I look at the bank statement I

actually see it.” Your subconscious mind has a bit of a challenge

with that and does not want that ongoing tension, so it becomes

your friend, working for you, making that happen, making that

reality happen.

Think about it, anytime you’ve ever gotten anything that you want,

you’ve already imagined yourself there, you can just see it. “yeah,

that’s mine, I own that.” Have you ever owned anything? I don’t

mean have you possessed something, I mean have you ever

claimed anything and said that you own it, and known there’s no

way it’s not going to work out. That’s how people get things done.

And until you start owning things, until you start claiming things

and just saying yeah, I’m just going to do that, I’m going to make

that happen, until you do that you won’t actually get there.

So, the script, when you say something, say it in the here and now

as if it’s already happened, that’s the secret to getting there. Then

after the script, we have amnesia, if you want to add this in. you’re

making your own recording, so the idea behind amnesia would be,

you would say something to the effect of “you can choose to forget

to remember everything that was said during this hypnosis session

or choose to remember to forget it, the choice is yours.” What

have I done there? I’ve created a double bind.

If you remember to forget, what do you do? Well you forget. If

you forget to remember, what do you do? Well you forget. So

that’s the double bind, you have two choices, forget or forget.

That’s the way I like to do that. Now, if you missed that, or if it

seemed tricky or complicated, go back and re-listen to that part,

because I understand that part is sometimes, when you hear it the

first time it doesn’t quite make sense. Then you hear it again and

oh, ok, now it does. But I’m going to move on because I want to

get to trance termination.

Trance termination is when you’re bringing the person out of

hypnosis, you’re counting them out, 1, 2, 3. Counting them out

slowly, out of hypnosis. So that’s the way you want to end your

session, you want to end it with that, counting yourself up slowly,

to full awake and consciousness.

Now, before you practice hypnosis with anyone, make sure you’re

certified. Make sure you’re certified before you practice hypnosis

with anyone. That means getting certified through me or someone

else, but getting certified. So this module is in no way meant to

train you how to be a hypnotherapist, I’m just sharing with you the

steps you can use to create a hypnosis session to achieve

abundance where you’re programming yourself.

And by the way, in the script, which is the most important part,

you’re seeing yourself with that $10,000, you’re feeling yourself

there, you’re hearing the sounds around you when you’re there,

when you have that $10,000, or whatever it may be. You’re

involving all of the senses. You’re using what we call future

pacing, and you put yourself in the future and you imagine yourself

already having it, that’s one thing you can do.

Another thing you can do when you’re in the script part is to

program yourself for an anchor. I like to do this a lot with clients,

program yourself for an anchor. So I’m thinking about, in this

script you’re telling yourself, you’re thinking about having that

money, you’re imagining yourself in the future having the money

and you’re feeling really good and you get yourself in state and

you feel very pumped up and you start to crank up everything to a

level ten, the feelings, the sights, the sounds, the tastes, the smells,

everything that applies in that moment, when you’re in the future

and you have that $10,000, or whatever amount it may be. And at

that point you anchor it. you touch the tip of your right index finger

with the tip of your right thumb and say a word to yourself. Say

“abundance.” Abundance. And then you let that go.

That’s how you program yourself. In the script part of the

recording that you can make for yourself. Now, that’s a lot of

information. If you want to learn hypnosis, you can check out

that because I want you to know there’s a resource, and if you want

to work with people, you need to get certified. Or you can get

certified with any number of people. There are a lot of people who

offer certification programs, mine is not the only one.

want to take it to the next level, well, I myself started with a book.

I got a book called The Complete Guide to Hypnosis by Leslie

LeCron, a PhD psychologist. I wouldn’t say it was a complete

guide, even though it was called that, it was a little paperback

book, read it in high school, I started hypnotizing my roommates in

military school. That’s how I got my start in hypnosis, a kid

reading a book.

Module 4: How Can You Use Education to

Achieve Abundance?

Well that’s a very powerful question, because when you think

about it education is what’s going to make the difference between

where you are and where you want to be. I don’t know anyone who

has ever gotten anywhere on purpose without education. And I

don’t mean going through school and getting a doctorate like I did

necessarily, I don’t mean becoming anything in particular. I just

mean knowing how to do things.

However you get your education, you get it. Let’s look at

mechanics, one person might learn mechanics because they’re not

able to afford a car that works properly, and at the same time they

also happen to like to tinker with things, so they get really good at

fixing their car because, first of all, they have to, second of all they

want to. And then they started fixing other people’s cars and

getting into that and fixing more cars and getting into that. So one

person can learn to be a mechanic that way, by being interested in

it and by having to do it.

Another person can have no need whatsoever to work on a car

because they can hire a mechanic, or they can get a car that doesn’t

require consistent maintenance, but they want to be a mechanic.

And so they go to school and get trained and learn how to work on

cars. Maybe they never have, they just decided they want to do it,

so they got educated. There are plenty of programs that will do

that, even if you have never looked under the hood of a car you can

become a mechanic. You can learn how to do that, it’s something

that you can learn through education. But realize that there are

people who learn things naturally.

There are people who are naturally good speakers, there are people

who are naturally good at getting along with people, there are

people who are naturally motivational, there are people who are

just naturally confident. Those kinds of things can happen because

people can learn those things in their environment, they can grow

up with people who are that way, and so they learn the habits of

confident people, they learn the habits of motivated people, they

learn that motivation pays off, they learn that when they go do

something and make it happen they feel good about themselves.

They learn all of that, just through the course of their lives.

Maybe they read some books about it, maybe they’re around the

right people, maybe both. Then there are people who don’t learn

hardly any of that, and they have to put it together with education

and take a program. And that’s ok too. A lot of what I do is create

programs to help people, people who may not know anything

about the subject, and they’re learning from scratch, as well as the

people who do know something, as well as the people who have

already learned it somewhere else and want to learn a different

way. I didn’t say better way, when I say different what I mean is

my way isn’t better or worse than anyone else’s, it’s just my way,

so I’m very careful when I’m talking about programs. I never say

my program is better than anyone’s. No, it’s just different, a

different approach. Sometimes people want to learn differently, so

I do help people learn and achieve.

And so you can get your education one of two ways. Either

growing up with it, learning as you go, or taking a program to get

your education. But in either case, we’re talking about education,

and for the longest time I didn’t really understand people who were

not what I would call properly educated. People who were not part

of the university program, or they got a bachelors degree and

hopefully they went on from there and learned more and they

became a specialist in their field. I have now realized there are

very, very, very educated people who have never been to college. I

know many of them, many of them.

People who are excellent at marketing, I’m talking about

understanding advanced statistical mathematical challenging issues

that I learned at the University of Florida. I’m talking about

learning things that I learned in Statistics II where I had to study

extra to actually understand it, they somehow seem to naturally

understand it, and they don’t even realize they’re applying things

from statistics too, because to them it’s just how to get things done,

it’s just part of the knowledge that they have, because they need to

have that. Out of necessity, they had to develop that, and so they

did, they found a way to do that, to get that education, to get that

specific knowledge.

So, when you talk about using education to achieve abundance,

we’re not just talking about standardized education, we’re talking

about education no matter how you got it. Most of the wealthy

people I know did not get that way through standard education.

Did not. They did not get that way by becoming a doctor or an

engineer or even a lawyer. They got that way, really out of

necessity. They were just trying to survive, and somehow they got

so good at it that they kept building and building and building,

until they became wealthy. They learned how to swim because

someone basically threw them in the water, and they had two

choices. And you know what those two choices are, and they chose

to swim, and that’s how they made it.

Now I’m not saying that’s the right way, but in most cases, at least

with people I associate with, that has been the case. But education

is perfectly viable too. There are many very well educated people.

Warren Buffet is a college educated man. A lot of business people

are college educated. Presidents of the United States, college

educated. A lot of them go on to law school, become lawyers,

educated. Mainstream education, and they become successful, and

they become wealthy, and they play a role in society. But most of

the people I associate with have become wealthy by doing what I

do, by helping people, by finding new and better ways to help

people, to market what they’ve created so that they can help

people. And they become abundant, and to me, that’s great. That’s

just a wonderful way to become abundant. I’m not saying it’s the

right way or the wrong way, I’m just saying it’s the way my

friends and I do it.

And that’s great, because the tide rises all ships. Everyone gets to

benefit from it. people who are buying programs get to learn

information, like the information in this program. People who are

selling the programs get to support themselves and their children.

So I like that model, I like it a lot. And they are all applying their

education to achieve abundance. Not just their own abundance, but

the abundance of others also.

So these are some of the various ways that you can use education

to achieve abundance. I think education is probably one of the

most useful tools when it comes to adaptability. The only second

best tool would be mistakes.

When you think about it, when you think about the evolution of

anything, evolution happens by mistakes, and those mistakes

happen to be selected for the environment because that mistake is

much more likely to survive than the way that things were being

made. So the mistakes survive, and they go on to reproduce, and

this repeats itself, and that’s how evolution happens.

So, between mistakes and education, we have the two leading

drivers of change. The only challenge with that, of course, is that

you don’t control mistakes. Yeah, you can make mistakes, you can

force yourself to make mistakes, but I wouldn’t recommend that.

Because mistakes, when you’re making yourself make them, are

based on ideas that you already have about which mistakes you

should make. So they don’t allow for growth, it’s a closed system.

It’s back to the discussion in a few modules back about not

knowing how much there is to know, and so we don’t know where

we are. Same concept. If you don’t understand the type of mistake

that you should make in order to grow, which you naturally

wouldn’t otherwise you wouldn’t even need to make the mistake,

then you’re just going to make random mistakes and really not

going to amount to much.

So that leaves us with education.

That’s the one of the two drivers, mistakes and education, that’s

the only one that we really have control over. So I always say, why

not learn as much as you can? About whatever it is that you do, in

fact, about whatever it is that you can learn about.

When you talk about education making you more adaptable,

adaptability is what allows things to go on. If something stays the

same and never adapts, doesn’t go on, it gets washed out. It’s sort

of like the idea of inflation. If you leave money in a box and it

doesn’t gain any value through interest, inflation will wash it away,

will wash its value away.

So if you are not moving forward with your knowledge, that’s the

same thing that can happen. So, to start a new bumper sticker, be

not like money sitting in a box. Yes, I just came up with that, I

doubt it will catch on as a bumper sticker. But you know what I

mean. If you just sit in a box as money, you’re going to lose value

because of inflation. That’s just the way it goes. You have to have

a way to somehow multiply what you are.

If you do not educate yourself and grow as a person, and remain

adaptable to change, positive, productive change, then you get left

behind. And my understanding is that by getting this program and

listening to it, you’re one of those people who does not want to be

left behind. You don’t want to be like the money that doesn’t grow,

you don’t want to be in a closed system. You want to be adaptable

and learning.

So education makes you more adaptable by giving you more

choices, by giving you more options, by giving you more ways to

do things. I think back when I was in college in the 80s and I think

about people I knew and I think about, you know, a bill coming up,

bills due, rent due. I remember one point, my roommate Jeff, there

we were, we were both undergraduate students at the University of

Florida, we were both juniors, and Jeff kept all the bills in a

shoebox. It was great, Jeff was like an accountant or something. He

really wasn’t, he would always tell me exactly what the bill was,

for the electricity, I’d write him a check, he told me exactly what

the bill was for this or that, he’d total it all together, anytime I had

a question about anything he would show me the exact items right

in front of me. I mean, talk about the perfect roommate, that was

great. And he was also entertaining, a good guy.

But a bill would come up, a bill would be due, and so the question

is, how will this bill get paid? And when you are a young college

student, the answers are fairly straightforward. It’s probably going

to be paid by a job that you have on the side, or maybe some

money that you saved up when you worked during the summer.

Something’s going to happen that’s going to allow you to pay that.

But the number of options that you’re able to conceive of would be

very limited because you just don’t have a lot of knowledge at that

time. And that’s ok, because you’re not supposed to, you’re not

supposed to know everything. We’re not born like horses where

we start walking right away. No, it takes us a long time to walk,

and people are excited when we walk, because it takes us so long.

So we’re not supposed to have all of the answers right away. So as

you go through life, as you learn more things, you figure out more

ways that you can pay the bills. You can be this, you can be that,

you can do this, you can do that, how does that really happen?

What’s really going on there, what’s really the difference between

a couple of college students with a bill that they have to pay vs.

years later?

Story I’m talking about is around 1987, it was awhile ago. Adults

have a different way of relating to bills than adolescents. Forgive

me if you’re an adolescent, forgive me if you’re of college age and

on the younger side, but you know what I mean. Older people have

a different way of relating to bills than younger people because

they know more. It’s education. If they have a better job than a

college student it’s because they know more, their brain has

become more valuable. Someone is willing to pay them more

money for the information in their brain, or the skills that they can

perform, the value that they can add to the team, to the group, to

the organization.

And so that’s what it’s really all about, getting more education.

Whether you get a formal education or whether you figure things

out on your own. When we talk about education making you more

adaptable, we’re talking about the idea that you can conform in a

positive way to a situation that’s thrown at you, because you have

the knowledge, you know how to do that. Some people learn it

naturally, some people just learn their way around things and they

know how to do things.

A lot of us need at least a little help. But it makes you more

adaptable, because you realize there are more possibilities than you

previously thought. That’s how education works, you learn a little

bit more and you say, “wow, I can’t believe id dint know this until

now! If I had this information a few years ago, you know how

differently I would have done things?” yeah, that’s the way it

works, that’s the way education works, that’s the irony. That’s the

little joke that education plays on us. Once we see how to do it in a

better way, we think why did we ever do it the difficult way. Well,

it’s because we didn’t have the education.

So I encourage you to get educated as soon as you can because that

makes you more adaptable. Now, I don’t know you personally so I

don’t know what you’re working on, you listening to this recording

that is, I don’t know what you’re working on. But I do know that

the more educated you are, the more options you’re going to have,

the more adaptable you’re going to be.

So just to recap, there are two ways to make progress. One is by

making mistakes. Hey, good news is, you’re going to do that one

anyway, whether you want to or not, whether you think you are or

not, you’re going to make mistakes. That’s the way it goes, that’s

the way life works. And really, if you did everything the right way

and never made a mistake, your life would be extremely boring.

You may think, “oh, that’d be great, I could be so predictable, I

could really get a handle on things.” No, there’s a difference

between things being sane and predictable and things being

monotonous, and that’s the way it would be if you could do

everything right, and if you could predict everything and make

everything work out just right. You’re going to make mistakes,

that’s just a given.

But what’s not a given is how educated you’re going to become.

See, the two ways that you can grow, through mistakes and

education, you have to take control over the one that you do have

control of. Education. So, education makes you more adaptable

because it gives you more options, gives you more ways to pay the

bills, it gives you more ways to get things done, it gives you more

ways to change things in your life, to do the surgery.

Remember when we were talking about the idea of opening the

chest cavity and it’s very similar to doing the induction and then

the deepening, but you still haven’t done anything, and the script is

where you make the change. It gives you more ways to make the

changes that you want to make in your life. So education makes

you more adaptable by giving you the tools that you need to move

forward.

And by move forward I mean change. And think about it, I mean,

you may think, “hey I’m just this way, I’m going to be this way

forever, that’s the way I’m going to do things.” And yeah I’ve seen

that done, I’ve seen people live in the same house for a long time,

I’ve heard about people who are born in a house and that’s the

house they die in, I’ve heard about that. That’s fine, that’s

absolutely fine, there’s nothing wrong with that. But there’s a good

chance, there’s a really good chance that that’s not what you want.

That you want something way beyond that, I’m just guessing here,

that you want something way beyond that.

And if you do, you must make changes, you must be adaptable.

And in order to become adaptable in the way that you can control,

you must educate yourself. You must learn whatever it is that’s

going to make the difference between you and the other person

who also wants that position. Or, if you don’t like looking at life

like a competition, you’re going to have to learn what it takes so

that you can rise to the occasion, just like everyone else who has

been successful in your field has done.

See if you don’t have the education you’re not going to make that

happen. And I’m not talking about necessarily formal education as

I mentioned. I’m talking about whatever it is that you need to

know to make it happen.

Module 5: In Which Areas of Life Can You

Achieve Abundance?

I think that’s a great question, and I think that that really goes back

to what I was saying a few modules ago about the idea that you can

create an abundant life in a way that it’s abundant for you, which

may not be money. It may be abundance of friends, an abundance

of abilities, an abundance of health, an abundance of education, it

could be any number of things.

So the areas in your life where you can create abundance, I think

they’re worthy of talking about, and I think they’re worthy of

talking about in detail because it’s really going to give you a

perspective about all of the things that are possible for you. And I

always get a lot out of podcasts, for example, I listen to podcasts a

lot. Even if it’s something I know, I listen to a podcast on it,

because I know that something is going to come out from that

podcast that I didn’t think about before. Or there’s going to be a

different way they’re saying things, there’s going to be a new idea

or an update of an old idea that I’m going to get from that podcast.

So I love listening to them, I also listen to a lot of audio books.

Even if it’s something that I know and know really well, there’s

going to be something said in a different way.

And also when I get into a new subject I listen to a number of

audio books by a number of different people. I advise you to do

that too, rather than just getting stuff by Dr. Steve G. Jones, how

about getting stuff from a lot of different people? Exposing

yourself to the subject of hypnosis and abundance and so forth. Get

a lot of different ideas and that way you can make more of an

informed decision about what you want to do and how you want to

do it. You’ll know more things are possible, and that’s one of the

biggest things I get from hanging out with friends and meeting new

people and studying different programs, listening to audio books,

that’s how I get ideas.

Without that, I wouldn’t even be aware of a lot of things that I’m

regularly doing now. You find out all kinds of things when you’re

regularly exposing yourself if you will to education, you’re

exposing your mind to it, you’re not holding on to what you think

is the right way to do everything, and the only way, and hey I’ve

got all that figured out, and I’m good now.

If you take that approach, well you’re going to have the challenge

we talked about in the last module, which is lack of adaptability.

You’re also going to find out that you’re not going to get some

really great ideas that you otherwise wouldn’t have had.

So let’s talk about those areas, the areas of your life that you can

work within to create abundance. So we’ve been talking a lot about

manifesting money, and even creating a hypnosis session for

yourself about manifesting $10,000 or whatever amount you want

to manifest. Let’s talk about some things that are off the beaten

path, and I think what you’re going to find when you start to fill in

these things, sort of like the spokes on a wheel. Have you ever

noticed that, out of all the spokes on the wheel a few of them are

missing or bent, the wheel’s not quite going to work properly. So

these are the spokes that a lot of people miss.

So I’d like to talk about your personal life, your relationships, your

friendships, and your balance in general, because that’s what ties

everything together. And I think what you’re going to find is that

when you start really giving these attention and working on them,

you know that weight you wanted to lose or that money you

wanted to make or that job you wanted to get, those things just

start to come together because you start to meet the people that can

help you make that happen. You start to hang out with people that

are getting things done, getting results. You start to get new ideas

because of the new associations in your mind, new associations in

your mind are things like, “I associate myself with wealth, or I

associate myself with that being possible, or I’m associating with

these people, and these folks are rich. I must be on my way to

becoming rich too, or maybe they think I am, or maybe I just have

that energy.”

You know, you start getting thoughts like that, and that’s why

relationship and friendships and your personal life are so

important. Hanging around the right types of people. I’m not

saying, good vs. bad, I’m saying the way I define the right type of

person, the type of person that you want to become. The type of

person that you wish you were. Maybe it’s a person with more

freedom than you or some power of some sort, they have

something that you don’t have yet, hanging out with them, that’s

what I’m talking about.

So let’s look at these, personal life, friendships, relationships,

balance. So your personal life. Let’s say you want abundance in

your personal life. Well what do you do? And this can be one of

the biggest challenges for people, and when people get into things

like email marketing, one of their biggest challenges is how do I

get customers, how do I get people to sign up for a newsletter, how

does this happen, how does that happen.

Most of it has to do with getting out there. Getting known. So

when we talk about your personal life, think about your personal

life for a minute, and think about what you do, and how that feels.

I’m talking about your personal life, I’m talking about what you do

either after work or after you’re busy working in your career, after

that business day is over, what do you do for fun? What do you do

when you unwind, how do you spend that time, where do you go,

what kind of vacations do you plan, what kind of person are you?

There’s no right or wrong answer here, but I just want you to get

the general sense of yourself, maybe you’ve never looked into that,

maybe you think, “personal life? I wish I had time for a personal

life.” Well what would you do if you did have more time to do

whatever it is that you want to do? What would you do?

Now, I want you to think about what you do, and immediately you

might have excuses. If you see that there’s a lack of continuity

here, something doesn’t quite flow into the other, what you want to

do isn’t what you’re doing, and you say, “well I don’t have time, or

I don’t have money, or I don’t have anyone to do that with.” Ok,

those are actually excuses, but ok.

You have reasons why there’s a lack of those things being the

same, what you want to do and what you are doing. But what if

you were to let go of those reasons, what if you were to say that

I’m not going to be one of those people anymore who finds an

excuse for why things aren’t quite working out?

I talked to someone recently, a writer, lovely lady, she was going

to write a book and that’s what she’s going to do, she’s going to

write a book. One day. She’s getting some ideas together and she’s

talking with people, and one day it’s going to happen. But

remember when we talked about owning it in another module?

That’s what I started to question. Is this person owning it, or is it

just something they like to say because it sounds good, because it

makes them feel good about themselves, “hey, you know, I’m

going to write a book?” Sounds good. When I write a book I’ll be

someone, I’ll be cool, I’ll be liked, I’ll be rich, famous. I’ll be

looked at as an intellectual when I write that book, whenever that

is.

And so time can go by. Now with this particular person, I still have

a tremendous amount of belief in them and hope for them, and I

gave them a little free coaching when they were sharing all of this

with me, and I’m certainly not picking on them. But there’s got to

be a similarity between what you say you want to do and what you

actually do. Otherwise these things don’t happen, and the reason

this comes into play in your personal life is really that’s the way a

lot of people work their way out of their job that they’re in, if they

don’t want to work in their job anymore. They start developing

something on the side, they start developing a business, a business

based on their passion hopefully. Hopefully it’s not just based on

desperation and making money, although that can work, that can

pay the bills while you figure out your passion.

Maybe your goal is just not to work for someone anymore, so any

business that you run, no matter what it is, is going to be fine, and

that’s ok. But this falls under the realm of personal life because

these are the things you can do in your spare time if you believe in

yourself and you expand what you’re doing.

So when we talk about abundance in your personal life, realize

that, at least in my opinion, a lot of it has to do with being more of

yourself, putting yourself out there, believing in yourself

embracing yourself, going for it. If you believe in yourself then

you can do anything. If you don’t, you don’t have that as part of

your personal life and your personal relation with yourself, then

you’re not going to make it happen.

Now, as we also talked about in a previous module, sometimes the

thing that you’re aiming at is not really the thing that you want.

And sometimes a little bit of reality goes a long way, and so if

you’re doing something that you don’t really feel passionate about,

maybe you bought into someone else’s dream be accident, that

happens, that’s ok. Maybe it’s not really your dream.

I remember when I was in graduate school, I took a couple of

graduate courses at the University of Florida in psychology, and

one of the students in the class was a lawyer, and he was in the

graduate program. I finished out my masters degree at a different

institution, but when I was in that class with the people who were

in that program, there was a lawyer there, a real estate lawyer, and

he shared a story about how he had been a lawyer for five years

and hated every day of it. He didn’t want to be a lawyer, he wasn’t

quite sure why he went to law school.

He didn’t like real estate, and there he sat. Now he was successful

because he did what he was supposed to do, he did what was

expected of him. But it didn’t fulfill him, his personal life was

really non-existent, because the person wasn’t there. He was absent

from his own life. He didn’t have a personal life, he had someone

else’s life.

Now hopefully when I say these things, if this applies to you, you

can start to feel something. Start to think, “hey, wait a minute,

kinda sounds like someone I know, that kinda sounds like me.” If it

does sound like you, fine, if it doesn’t apply, that’s fine also. Don’t

make something fit where it doesn’t.

But if it does apply to you, then realize that you’re not stuck where

you are. You’re able to develop whatever it is that you want to

develop. So when we talk about developing abundance in your

personal life, we’re really talking about creating a life around what

you want to do that lets you stand in that possibility of having even

more. Remember previous module, we discussed this. That is what

abundance is. It’s that feeling that you have that more things are

possible, that I have a lot and more things are possible. I’m

thinking abundantly.

And so your personal life becomes very important. Relationships,

let’s look at those. Relationships are those things that happen as a

result of your personal life, existing friendships that you already

have and your professional life. You have a relationship with

people you work with or work for or people that work for you. You

have a relationship with a partner that you may have, or perhaps

you want a relationship with a partner that you don’t have.

You know my friend Joe Vitale says one thing every now and then

that really sticks out. He says a lot of things that really stick out,

but this one in particular really sticks out, because he’s giving

advice to people looking for relationships. He says that instead of

focusing on a specific person that you want, how about focusing on

a type of person that you want, how about focusing on the

attributes that you would like to see in the person, because what if

the person that you’ve decided is the perfect person for you doesn’t

feel the same way about you, or they turn out to not be the perfect

person for you, which I don’t think any situation is absolutely

perfect anyway, by the way. But you start to see things and it

doesn’t really work out the way you thought it would, then what.

You focused on a person. Now on a certain point it makes sense

because you focused n the type of person you want, then you found

a person and you focused on the person, of course, that’s a natural

evolutionary process in a relationship. Look for something, find it,

focus on that one thing.

But, if you’re focusing on a person, and you already know that

that’s not right, what is that? Well that’s not a relationship, that’s

called getting stuck in the cycle. That’s called stagnation, that’s

called going around in circles. Now if you’re comfortable with

this, who am I to interfere with your happiness.

You know there’s a new way of thinking in therapy, and that new

way is, well, is the client happy with it? Does it help them feel

good about themselves, and as long as it’s not hurting anyone,

that’s ok. So I honestly mean this, if you feel ok going in circles,

either with your personal life or your friendships or your

relationships, we’re talking specifically about relationships here,

but if you feel comfortable going in circles then who am I to say

change that.

But my understanding, because you’re listening to this program by

a guy who believes in change and evolution of the individual and

getting outcomes, my understanding is you don’t want to go in

circles. You want to go in an upward trajectory, and you want to

make things happen in a positive way in your life.

So, the way to do that, by changing something, you’ve got to

change something. So think about, right now, your idea of an

abundant relationship, what does that look like. Maybe you’re

going out for ice cream, going out for dinner, going out to the

movies, taking vacations, watching tv, whatever it may be. Maybe

you work together, whatever it may be.

Now think about what you have, and I realize that a lot of

relationships are evolutionary, in process, they’re moving toward

something, takes time, you don’t just create something overnight in

many cases, I understand that. But are you moving that way, are

you on that trajectory?

So if you are, then that’s absolutely wonderful. If you’re not, then

how about taking a step back and looking at things, and saying,

“hmm, is this going where I want it to go?” And some people can

overdo this, have you ever noticed that? Some people can really

overdo this, they can say, “well this just is not going where I

wanted to go.” You know, a good week into the relationship. And

if that’s the case, if that’s what you’re dealing with, I’m not talking

about that. I’m talking about you’ve got some data points over time

and you can see where this thing is going, you can take a step back

and say ok, I’m happy, or it’s going in circles and you’re ok with

that. But maybe it’s not going where you want it to go and you’re

not happy.

In that case, how are you standing in abundance? How are you

living up to the idea of creating an abundant life if what you’re

standing in is not only not what you want, but it’s not going to

where you want it to be?

So abundance can be created in relationships, but it starts with you

getting really clear about reality, and then making changes where

you need to.

Let’s look at friendships. Friendships are something that

sometimes people think, “eh, you know, friends, they’re ok but I

don’t really need them, they’re kind of, you know, just things in

the background.” Or, maybe you’re one of those people who’s all

about friends, friends friends friends, everyday friends, what am I

doing today? I’m doing what my friends do, because my friends

are really more in the leadership position than I am so they kind of

make up stuff that we’ll do, so we’ll just do what my friends do,

and if they don’t come up with anything I’m sure somebody will,

because a whole group of them and somebody will come up with

something.

And that’s ok, I’m not judging. But wherever you fall on that

spectrum, I just bring this up to show you that friendship is a

spectrum, maybe you have a lot of friends, maybe you have a few

friends, maybe it’s important to you, maybe it’s not, but abundance

is relative, as I’ve been saying. Abundance has to do with what you

want. Do you have the amount of friends that you want? Do you

have the types of friendships, the quality friendships that you

want?

And by the way, you can use the hypnosis technology I’ve already

shared with you to make that change, so you can do that, you can

change your friendships. You can change your personal life your

friendships, your relationships, and really it’s all about balance.

Once you do all of that, you have balance. I’m not saying life’s

going to go smoothly from now on, I’m not saying there won’t be

any bumps in the road. I hope there are, because those things that

challenge us help us grow, and those mistakes we make help us

grow and learn. They’re very helpful for our education. They’re

completely out of our control, we have to be ok with that, because

we don’t know what we’re not aware of and that’s fine. They’re

going to happen, they’re going to help us grow, and all of that

helps us with balance.

So when you take a look at which areas of your life you can work

on, you can achieve abundance, let go of the idea of just focusing

on more money. I’ll tell you, I don’t know anyone who’s wealthy

who just focused on wealth. “I’m just going to get wealth, I’m just

going to get money.” My dad wanted me to major in business and

minor in computers, because when I started college in 1985,

computers were not that sophisticated, so there was actually a

minor called computers rather than being very specific as it is now

and as I’m sure it will continue to be. So I didn’t do that, I didn’t

go into business and minor in computers, or computer technology

or whatever they called it at the time, very general term.

I was interested in psychology, and I found out in psychology that

they couldn’t exactly teach me what I wanted to know because

they didn’t have that knowledge as part of their curriculum, so I

educated myself at the same time outside of academia by learning

things such as hypnotherapy and NLP so that I could combine the

two to create the life that I wanted to create.

But at no point was I focused on the money. You focus on the

money and you can get the money, but it’s not sustainable. So I

really want to impart that to you. If you focus on making money

for the sake of making money, that is not sustainable because it

Module 6: Which Visualization Tools Can

You Use to Achieve Abundance?

Well, as we look at the idea of visualization, we really see that

what we’ve got is something that’s not exactly what it sounds like

every time. And let me explain what I mean by that. A lot of

people visualize and see what they want, it’s a picture or a movie

in their minds, but I’ve learned through working with clients for

many years that some people don’t think that way, and that’s fine.

Not everyone is a visual person. Some people are auditory, some

people are kinesthetic, meaning some people relate more to

something they can hear rather than something they can see in their

mind. Some people that are kinesthetic relate more to touching and

feeling, or to feelings themselves, and so I’m saying this to make

sure I don’t exclude anyone who may be auditory or kinesthetic as

opposed to visual.

So if you’re listening to this and you’re thinking, “visualization?

No no, here we go again, the visualization thing, I don’t think in

pictures, I think in sounds, or I think in feelings, or I think in

concepts.” So however you think of things, that’s ok, that’s your

way of doing it.

So when I say visualization, when I talk about visualization, when

I answer questions about visualizations, I’m talking about the way

that you represent something in your mind that you want to

achieve. So the tools then become tools that you should choose

based on what the way that you get things done.

And I’ll give you a perfect example of this: vision boards. I’m

going to talk about vision boards, but I want you to realize that

some people really do not get benefit from them, because they’re

not primarily visual people. Now obviously blind people wouldn’t

get benefit from them, except to feel perhaps something on them,

but I’m talking about people who just don’t relate to vision as

strongly, even though they can see, they don’t relate to it as

strongly as things that they hear or things that they feel, whether by

touching them or be feeling them emotionally, or feeling the

motion of doing something. And it can be difficult to capture that

on a board. Try putting a sound on a board. It can be done, but it’s

not immediately apparent how you would do it.

So some of these tools need to be either adapted or not used

because they don’t apply, and I want you to be ok with that. I want

you to realize that if you’re one of those people that’s not visual,

that’s ok. There are other ways to get there. Or, if you want to do

something different, if you’ve already used a vision board or

something of a visual nature, then I want you to realize that you

can switch modalities, you can do something of an auditory nature

or a kinesthetic nature.

But let’s talk about vision boards, since I mentioned them. I love

vision boards. I think they’re a wonderful way to work on

abundance, they’re a wonderful way to work on what you want,

and I would really recommend, if you’re comfortable with this, to

put your vision board somewhere where other people can see it.

now if you’re not comfortable with this, you feel like they might

mock it, certainly don’t put it where they can see it. that’s

important, just like when you’re growing a tiny plant and you want

it to grow into a tree, you don’t want to expose it to harsh weather

and harsh elements when it’s a tiny plant, it might get washed

away.

But when it’s a little bigger, it can stand that, and when it becomes

a tree it certainly can. So, at first, just need a stable place where it

can put down some roots and start developing. So if you’ve got

“friends” who come over and might make fun of it, well, don’t put

it in a place where it can be seen. But if you’ve got some

supportive people who are going to be in your life and are going to

see that board, guess what? That becomes a powerful tool, because

they’re going to look at that and they’re going to say, “What’s

this?” or “Oh, a vision board, neat! Let’s see what’s on it: there’s a

little convertible car, there’s a house, there’s a boat, oh there’s a

couple together, there’s a beach, ok. Well, when are you going to

get these things, what are you doing to make this happen?”

And what does that do? That gives you leverage, now you have

your friends pulling for you. By gently almost harassing you about

this stuff, getting into your business a little bit, they’re going to

hold you accountable. Now, different friends will hold you

accountable to different levels. Some people will just check in

every now and again and ask, “how’s that coming along, how’s

that going?” Other people will check in with you consistently.

Some people might overdo it a little bit, in which case you’re

going to have to put your foot down and say, “hey I’ve got this,

I’m working on it.” But you create a vision board and let others in

so they can see your vision, so they can see you’re working on

something.

It prompts a discussion, they want to know, when are you going to

have these things, what’s your plan to get these things, how does

this vision board work, why did you create this, where did you get

these pictures, are you going to actually make this happen? Or if

they’re maybe a little bit more supportive, now that’s the

representation of people who aren’t negative, they just don’t know

about it, but a person that’s a little more supportive: “oh a vision

board, great! Would you like help putting together an action plan?”

People who have achieved things, who have made things happen

and have used tools like this, understand the power of them. And

they understand what they’re looking at, they’re looking at the

future. But it’s only going to be the future if you let it, if you make

it happen. If you both let it and make it. You allow it to happen,

and at certain times you take control. At certain times you must

take control and guide it to make it happen.

But creating a vision board is something that you should do for a

visual type person, and putting it out where people can see it is

something that you should consider doing, or maybe you can just

let some people see it. You really want to be protective of things

like this, just putting it out there, if you’re going to get some

negative criticism, can do more harm than good. If people start

looking at it and laughing and going, “oh you’re going to have

that? Yeah right! With your job? Come on…”

If you’re going to get that kind of feedback, that’s the kind of stuff

that destroys dreams. That’s the kind of stuff that holds people

back, that’s the kind of stuff that stops that plant from putting

down its roots and becoming a bigger plant, becoming a tree that

can provide shade to everyone around it. That’s what stops that

process. So you’ve got to be careful early on.

Later on, once everything has some traction going, then you can

show it off and say, “hey look at this!” but when it’s just a concept,

when it’s just a seed, an idea that hasn’t taken root yet, you have to

protect it.

So, vision boards can be very powerful in creating abundance, if

they’re used the right way. And by the way, all you do is cut out

pictures of things that you want and put them on there.

Representations, they don’t have to be the exact things, it can be a

model of a car in the same color you want, that’s fine, it doesn’t

have to be the exact car that you will get, the same make, model,

color, that’s all very helpful. The more specific the better, same

thing with houses, same thing with types of relationships and types

of vacations. So vision boards, most people have heard of them at

this point, at least most people like you who are into self-help. So

use them if you’re primarily visual.

How about affirmations? Quotes? I love these. I put these on my

bathroom mirror and it’s always amazing to me how those things

start happening in my life. I wrote a couple of years ago Eliminate,

Automate, Delegate, those were three things. I know affirmations

are usually worded out more thoroughly, but for me I just wanted

to have those words in my mind. Eliminate, Automate, Delegate.

What did that mean? Well it’s something I heard in a seminar and I

thought it was really great, it was the only thing I remembered

from the seminar. In fact it was an online seminar, they announced

that I was there and I talked a little bit in this online format, it was

through the phone but it was recorded by internet, and so that’s all

I remembered from everyone talking at that seminar. I remember

what I said of course, but I don’t remember anything that anyone

else said except Eliminate, Automate, Delegate.

I put it up on the mirror, I thought that’s exactly what I’ve been

looking for, something simple that takes my life with all of the

confusion and busy-ness that can happen from time to time, and all

of the hurrying and all of the disorder that can happen in an instant.

And it puts into place a systematic approach for dealing with that

so that those challenges may come up, will be less and less in the

future by eliminating certain things from my life that I don’t need,

they don’t do any good for me, they don’t help me at all. I’m

talking about relationships that are not only pointless, but they’re

actually taking away from me. Eliminating those.

Automating. What are the things that I do that someone else can

do? Well that’s when we get into delegating. But for automating,

we’re talking about those things that I do or that someone else does

that are repetitive and that somehow a system can be designed to

automate that, to automate that process. In email you have this, it’s

an autoresponder, you’re getting email, you get an autoresponder.

There are a lot of different categories, a lot of different answers, it

goes to an FAQ page that goes to different pages, you can design it

any way you want. But an autoresponder is an example of this, of

automating a system.

So there’s systems that can be automated. I found out that I was

going to a similar Starbucks every day and getting the same thing

every day, it’s just one of the things that I do, and I found out that I

could pay for that in advance, because after all, I’m just going to

get the same thing every day. Why not pay for it in advance? So I

eliminated having to pay every day, and I automated the process.

And of course there are apps that do all kinds of things for you. It

seems like everything you think of that’s going to help you,

eventually there’s a program that does that because someone else

thought of it, someone else thought, “hey, you know, that’d be a

really good idea.”

So I was in Austin, Texas recently and sure enough, Starbucks had

a way of doing that, don’t even worry about paying, just press a

little button, come in, get what you want, done. They even went

one step ahead of me. So it’s always going to be like that,

technology is always going to change, but I thought these words,

Eliminate, Automate, Delegate, would be very helpful. And they

have been, because they’ve saved me a lot of time and energy and

money.

Delegation comes down to you having certain things that you’re

really good at, your core abilities, those things that you’re really

good at. And if you’re in a business you know exactly what I’m

talking about. If you’re not in a business, you work for someone

else, then in a roundabout way you know what I’m talking about

because the job you have, hopefully, makes the highest and best

use of your core abilities, or your core competencies, the things

that you are competent at. If someone’s over qualified or under

qualified for a job it might not work out. If they’re over qualified

they’ll be bored, if they’re under qualified they’ll be confused. So

hopefully what you do makes use of that.

And so I decided I was going to make use of my core

competencies. What was I good at? Well, my whole job these last

few decades is to help people, and primarily, over that time, I’ve

done that by working with people one on one and making

recordings. Those are the things that I wanted to spend my time on,

not doing these other things. So, I’ll share with you that I’ve taken

this a bit far.

For example, I wear a black t-shirt every day, so you can go a little

far with it, I want you to realize that you’ve got to put it in its

proper place, but I do wear the same thing every day, I just wear

something different over it sometimes. That, for me, helps me

automate it, so if you look at my closet on one side you’ll see 30

black t-shirts, because I don’t want to have to think about it. I don’t

want to have think about what I’m going to wear when I get up, I

just want it to be done and I want to find something that looks

good on me and I want to wear that.

And recently a friend of mine told me about a different type of

material that’s better than what I’ve been using, I tested it out, I

wore it, I washed it, it turned out fine, so I’m going to change to

that next time I order 30 black t-shirts, it’s going to be a slightly

different kind because I’ve improved upon it. So I’m not

necessarily recommending that you go quite that far with it, unless

you want to. But what I am saying is that you can look at your life

and you can find ways, if you want to apply my affirmations, you

can Eliminate, Automate and Delegate.

But you can also think of different things that you specifically

want to work on. What are you up to, what are you building, what

are you striving for? That’s what you would want to put in your

visual affirmation quotes. What about a journal of gratitude? Think

about that. Think about the lack of logic in that.

Now I’m actually a big believer in journals of gratitude, but I want

you to consider it for a moment and think about how that can be

illogical. You’re writing down that you’re thankful for something

that you already got. How does that play any role whatsoever in

you getting it? Well it doesn’t. Because you’ve already got it.

You’re writing in your journal of gratitude, by the way, journal of

gratitude is just that, you write down the things that you’re grateful

for. And if you want to use one all you do is write down on

something, and even on a piece of paper, write down things that

you’re thankful for every day.

But you’re writing those things down that you’ve already got,

you’re thankful for them because you already have them. Wouldn’t

you just go ahead and start working on the next thing? I mean,

you’ve already got that, isn’t that just going back in the past and

dwelling on the past and that sort of thing? Journal of gratitude? I

mean, is anyone going to read this, it’s not like you’re writing a

thank you card or something you’re going to send off. If anything,

you’re bragging, aren’t you? “I’ve got this, I’ve got that.”

I bring that up because some people look at journals of gratitude in

that way, and I want to tell you that when you’re thankful for what

you have, it reminds you about it, and if you really wanted it, if it

was something that you really want, this goes back to a previous

module where we talked about going after things that you really

want, not dreams that somebody else put into your head, not things

that you think you should want but things that you really want.

And when you get what you really want, if you’re thankful for it

and you remind yourself that you’re thankful for it and you’re ok

with having it, some people have a challenge with this, some

people have a challenge with accepting good things into their lives.

But if you’re ok with having it, then you want more, you’re

programming your subconscious mind to be ok with it and to want

more of the same because it’s normal for you. So you get that nice

car you’re thankful for it, when you’re thankful for it your

subconscious mind hears that, it wants more of the same. And then

you have the nice house and you have the nice boat, how did those

things happen, how did those things appear?

Well, there’s no magic to it. they appeared because you worked

hard and you earned those things. But why were you working hard,

and why were you getting those things? Because you were focused

and you were excited about what you were doing because you felt

good about your achievements. That’s the beauty of having a

journal of gratitude. When you’re thankful for what you have, you

send these signals to your subconscious mind that not only is it ok

to have this, but it’s ok to have more of the things like this. In fact,

in doing this so regularly now, that it’s just normal now, it’s just

part of my life.

That’s you talking to yourself in the future. That’s the power of

gratitude, it becomes normal for you. I want to close this module

with a story that really sticks with me to this day, it doesn’t really

have a powerful ending or anything like that, but it’s just

something that I want to share with you because it really sticks out

in my mind, and it was a lady I knew, and I went out one time to

get some clothes, I was going to be on a tv show and I lived in

Savannah, Georgia, there was always a place that I went to to get

clothes.

things that women can wear and that men can wear, and things that

you can have around the house as decorations. And she saw

something that she liked and I believe it was a dream catcher, if

you don’t know what that is go ahead and Google that. If you listen

to this program you probably know what that is, so I believe that’s

what she had that she was interested in, this was a few years ago,

and she held it, and I was trying on different clothes and Kathy was

helping me and I was getting advice from my friend whose

daughter was looking at the dream catcher, and figuring out since I

don’t know a tremendous amount about style, figuring out what

would be good to wear for this show.

And I noticed the daughter kept looking at this and kept wanting to

touch it, and so I bought it for her, and I thought, “well, you know,

my friend has come here to help me out and her daughter is here,”

and it was I think $17 if I remember correctly. And the daughter

started crying after I bought it for her, and I didn’t understand, I

thought, “well this could be tears of joy, but it’s not that great of a

gift.”

And the reason she was crying was because she didn’t feel worthy,

she didn’t feel she should have that, she didn’t feel that should be

hers. Because after all, it cost $17, that’s a lot of money for her and

her mom, that’s a lot of money, and I wasn’t even realizing that. I

mean, for me it was difficult to wrap my head around it until I

realized the scale of the life that she was living, it suddenly put it

into perspective for me, “wow, you know, for her $17 is a lot, it

might be more than she’s allowed to use each day to eat.” For her

that might be a few days worth of food that she could by, and

maybe her mother let her know about that. And I’m not saying

that’s right or wrong, I’m just saying that could have been the case.

And so that really put this into perspective, this idea of gratitude.

Here I was picking out clothes to be in a tv show having someone

show me what to wear and my friend’s daughter couldn’t even

accept something that was $17 because that was more than she was

worthy of. So, I told her, “you should have this, this should be

yours, and it’s ok to have this.” I didn’t want to tell her she earned

it, because she hadn’t done anything. it was just ok for her to have

it.

And it took a little while of me talking with her for her to be ok

with having it, and she was very, very thankful for it. well beyond

thankful, and that, to me, was a powerful lesson in gratitude. All

the things that I’ve gotten that I thought, “huh, of course I got that,

I should get that, I deserve that.” Well, if you start to lose touch

with gratitude, then your subconscious mind starts to lose touch

with the idea that you getting things is ok.

So that’s why it’s important to keep a journal of gratitude, so that

you maintain perspective, and you continue to move forward. That

Module 7: Which Exercises and/or

Techniques Can You Use to Achieve

Abundance?

That’s a really powerful question because it gets to what I like to

get to which is getting stuff done. When you get stuff done, then

you’re making measurable progress. So when you have a technique

that actually works, you are, first of all, getting something done

because you’re taking an action, you’re taking a step in the right

direction. You’re doing something that’s supposed to help you get

somewhere.

So there’s an immediate benefit from that because you’re

reminded, “oh yeah, that’s what I’m doing here, oh yeah, yeah,

yeah, I’m working on abundance, and that’s why I’m doing this

technique.” So realize that anytime you use a technique, there’s a

little bit of very understated power that you get. People really don’t

even embrace the idea that just showing up and just doing

something about something is very powerful.

So, give yourself credit for using a technique and realize how

important that is, because what comes before the technique? Well

often times a lot of thinking, I think I’m going to do that, I think

I’m going to do this, I think that might work. When you’re doing a

technique you’ve moved on, you’re already in motion. No, you

haven’t achieved your goal yet, that’s why you’re doing the

technique, but you’re at least taking action.

So here’s something that I think is very straightforward that you

can get a lot of mileage from. Drummers talk about certain beats

that they can use, that they can get a lot of mileage from, a lot of

songs have similar beats so if you’re a drummer you want to learn

basic beats because they tend to be repetitive, they tend to be used

in a lot of songs. So here’s a technique that you can use in a lot of

areas of abundance in your life, and it’s called the NICE technique.

NICE stands for Notice, Intervene, Change and Embrace. So let’s

go ahead and look at those, let’s go ahead and see what we’re

dealing with when we talk about the NICE technique.

It is a nice technique because it’s nice and easy to remember,

because the word is nice. So hopefully by me saying nice so many

times, you’ll at least remember that there’s something with an N-I-

C-E in it. And again, Notice, Intervene, Change and Embrace. So,

what does notice mean?

Well, you’ve got to take notice of what’s going on, what’s going

on in your life. Where are you? Sometimes that has to do with

data. If you want to get from point A to B, remember our example,

manifesting $10,000 or whatever amount you chose, you have to

take notice that that amount isn’t there, and that you wish it was

there.

Now again, maybe for you it’s $10 million, or maybe it’s a

thousand dollars, I don’t know. But I do know that there’s a

distance between where you are and where you want to be, and

you have to notice that. You have to acknowledge that, you have to

notice that there’s a challenge, that there’s a realistic difference in

reality, in a real world there’s a difference between where you are

and where you want to be. In dreaming, it’s helpful, has its place,

keeping your thoughts positive, very helpful, definitely has its

place. But none of that happens until you notice that you’re not

where you want to be, until you really start paying attention.

And sometimes this has a lot to do with getting really real in areas

that you haven’t been real in. and I’ll give you an example of this.

In my business we sell audio recordings, video recordings, ebooks.

I produce things, they get sold, they’re programs that help people,

like this program that you’re listening to right now. And we

measure, because we want to see what people are interested in. I

don’t want to spend my time creating things that people aren’t

interested in, because I’m not serving the greater good. I might be

serving my ego, but I’m not serving the greater good, I’m not

serving the greater number of people who are interested in things

that I produce.

If I suddenly want to become a painter, that’s fine, but I’m not

going to be selling that unless somehow I become a great painter,

which is entirely possible, if I really focus on it. But if it’s just

something I’m doing on the side, then that’s all it is. But when I

produce audios, we want to market them, and so we had a situation

awhile back where we thought everything was fine.

We thought everything was absolutely fine, we weren’t looking at

much of anything. And then we started taking a closer look and

finding out there’s certain things that people are interested in and

there are certain things that people are not interested in. for

example, I created a program to help people overcome wedding

stress. I believe that sold a handful of times in the time that I have

been selling it, which is many years, easily over ten years, and sold

a handful of times.

Now why is that? Well I don’t know. I imagine that perhaps a lot

of people don’t turn to hypnosis for help with wedding stress, and

my hypnosis recording for overcoming wedding stress is not in

demand because people don’t turn to hypnosis for that, either they

don’t acknowledge that they have stress or they don’t want to use

hypnosis for it or I don’t know what it is, because we haven’t

looked into it.

What we have looked into is that it’s not selling very frequently,

and so when we got real with everything, when we started taking

notice of what people are buying, remember the N, the NICE

technique is Notice, I started noticing this by collecting data.

Sometimes noticing requires collecting data. We realized that hey,

it’s not what people want. Well what do they want, that was the

next question.

Well it turns out that people are very interested in a few things.

They want love, they want money, they want power in the form of

motivation and confidence, they want to feel good about

themselves. These are the things that people are interested in, if

their credit card is any form of vote, which I believe it is, because

if I’m going to buy something, I’m going to buy something that’s

going to help me. I’m going to buy something that’s going to help

me achieve my goals.

I remember studying about real estate, I was interested in that and I

started looking into that and seeing all of these videos and podcasts

and so forth. It wasn’t until I paid a friend of mine $300 to take his

program, he didn’t give it to me, I had to pay $300 to take his

program, but it wasn’t until I did that that I really learned, that I

really learned what was going on, that I really learned about real

estate. And by the way, that friend’s name is Jason Hartman, real

estate guru in my opinion.

That’s when I started to learn, when I actually bought a program.

And I don’t make anything from Jason Hartman’s program either

by the way, he’s just a good guy, friend of mine, and he has a good

program that I paid $300 for after listening to his podcast for over

a year. I still bought that. Why? Because it laid everything out in

one place, laid out all the information for me and I finally

understood it, I finally got it, I saw what he was attempting to get

me to see, because in that program he just laid it out.

So I noticed where I was vs. where I wanted to be and I took

action, and I made that happen, and I also realized that certain

people want certain things, and that if you spend your time creating

the things that the majority of people want, then your time is well

spent. A lot of people are interested in real estate, a lot of people

are interested in motivation, confidence, making money, losing

weight, those are the types of things that people are interested in.

And so when you notice where you are vs. where you want to be,

and you can get really honest, really clear about what’s going on

and that you are not making progress, if that’s the case, or you

make a little and you go back to where you were, or you’re way off

track, or whatever it may be, when you take notice and you get

some data points and you have a system in which to work you can

make things happen. So we became very aware of the fact that

people wanted those specific things, we started focusing on that,

started providing that. That’s what they wanted.

So it’s interesting how anyone can get caught up in a rut. Anyone

can get caught up doing something that they think is the right way

of doing things, because they’re getting some results after all, I’m

getting some results, it must be ok. It’s not that I’m getting zero

results, I’m getting some results. And that’s the way it was for me

with exercise before I hired a trainer, that’s the way it was for me

with weight loss until I really got serious. And this was after I co-

wrote The Power of Thin with Frank Mangano. I was someone

who needed to be told what to do and how to do it, and then I was

going to make it happen. And I also used hypnosis to work with

that.

But I took notice of where I was, I took notice of where I wasn’t, I

made it happen. Our business, same thing. We dared to look at

what was really going on, where the money was really coming

from, what people were voting for with their credit cards, what did

they really want. And that’s what we started focusing on. That’s

what you have to do, you have to take notice. What’s going on?

And sometimes, sometimes you’re going to think you know it all,

especially if you’ve been doing the same thing the same way for a

long time and it’s producing results. Like I said, some results are

better than none. That can be a trap, because maybe you’re not

noticing what’s really going on. Maybe things have changed, or

maybe you don’t really understand the data that you’re looking at

because you haven’t drilled down far enough to find out what’s

making up the data. So, you have to take notice.

So as we move on in NICE, we get to the idea on Intervening.

There’s got to be something that changes. If you notice something

and don’t do anything about it, where does that get you? Nowhere.

It’s as if you didn’t even notice it, because what did you do with

that knowledge?

So if you notice there’s something that’s not right about your

relationship you’re in, and this could be with a parent, could be

with a loved one, could be with a child, maybe the child and you

could have a better relationship, you’ve got to understand that until

you intervene in your own life, or sometimes in someone else’s

life, you’re not going to actually make any measurable change.

And I’m all about measurable change, I want you to make a

change as a result of listening to this program and applying these

techniques, and I want you to let me know about it, I want you to

email me, I want you to reach out to me. Let me know what

changed for you, and realize that you have to intervene. You have

to intervene in your own life.

You have to step in and say, “that’s enough of the cycle, I’m not

going in circles anymore, I’m not fooling myself anymore, I’m

embracing reality, I’m taking notice of where I really am and I’m

taking notice of the difference between where I am and where I

want to be.”

And this reminds me of a “mastermind” that I was told about,

about a year ago, and the people in the mastermind were very

interesting. You know there are a lot of things called mastermind,

and a lot of them are very powerful, very helpful, but in this

particular one… it was only made up of three people, in this

particular mastermind, three ladies, they had some really good

ideas. One of them was the wife of a very successful man, and she

herself wanted to be successful. In fact, she was, to a large degree,

responsible for his success because he was working really hard to

impress her.

And so this lady wanted to do something on her own. Makes sense,

I applaud that, I think that’s wonderful and beautiful. The other

person, I don’t have much information on the third person, but the

other person in there was a person I knew directly, and she had a

lot of good ideas. Always had good ideas, and her ideas were, I’d

say good, but I don’t know how good, because they were never

tested. And they were never tested because she never manifested

any of them, and she never manifested any of them because she

would go to her meetings week after week where she would simply

talk about the things she was going to do, and feel good about

talking about it. And then she’d strategize with the other two

people and talk about what they were going to do, but it was all

theoretical, because nothing was actually happening.

It was a mastermind designed to fool its own members into feeling

that they were accomplishing something. Have you been a part of

any of these types of groups? Have you been a part of a group, I’m

not accusing you by any means, I don’t know you personally

perhaps, but have you ever been a part of a group or are you

currently part of one that you just go to and you kind of spin your

wheels, and maybe you make yourself feel good and everyone else

feels good, but really nothing is changing, nothing is really

happening. It’s kind of like everyone is kind of commiserating, you

know, misery loves company.

Now I’m not saying you’re in that situation. Perhaps you’re not

even able to relate to that situation, perhaps you would have

nothing to do with that situation. Or perhaps, from time to time,

you found yourself in something similar to that. No matter what

the case is, you realize in this what’s needed. Actual action. And

you have to intervene in your own life sometimes, you have to step

in and say, “I’m not going in circles anymore, I’m not fooling

myself anymore.”

And then we segue-way into the C, which is Change. I’m going to

change, and I’m going to incorporate change in my life from now

on. I’m going to make a little change when I went to lose weight,

made a little change. Stopped eating this, started eating that,

worked out pretty well. When you get in shape, made some

changes, hired a trainer who knew things about exercise that I

didn’t know. I also called someone who has a doctorate in exercise

physiology and consulted with her, checked what the trainer was

telling me. The trainer was recommended by a dietician by the

way, had been doing certain things, had consulted with this other

person who had the doctorate, she made some changes, I shared

them with him, and we moved forward.

And now every time he wants me to do something new, he checks

it first without me having to. So, you’ve got to be willing to do

what it takes to change, you’ve got to be willing to eat differently

or exercise differently or do something different in your life, or

associate with different people or form new types of relationships.

If there’s no C, if there’s no Change going on, then what good did

it do you to notice something and to intervene? You haven’t

changed.

And so once you do change, and you do incorporate change into

your life, there’s a big difference between saying, “I’ve changed”

and by actually incorporating that change into your life. If you say

that you’re not going to drive at a certain speed anymore but you

continue to drive at that certain speed, well, the only thing that’s

changed is what you’re saying, because now you’re lying. That’s

the only change that’s actually happened.

So it’s a big difference between thinking of change and

conceptualizing change and incorporating change. And I know

you’re not a liar, you want to do the right thing, and the way you

do that is by walking your talk. When you say you’re going to do

something, when you say you’re going to incorporate change,

you’ve got to make systematic changes in your processes. If you

want to have a more efficient day like I do, and don’t do this by the

way, but if you did, you’d start wearing the same t-shirt every day

to make things simple. That’s an extreme case and I realize that,

but there’s got to be a change. What are you going to do differently

that you didn’t do today, and how are you going to maintain that?

You see, that’s the real trick. That’s the real trick. Anyone can do

something for a little bit of time, that’s easy. But when you

maintain it over time, that’s where you get the big changes in your

life, that’s where you start freeing up more time, because you’re

not burdened with stuff that you considered nonsense. For me, that

would be picking out certain colors of clothing. I don’t see any

benefit in that, I don’t get it, I don’t want it as part of my life.

I see benefit in creating programs like this and helping people, I

see benefit in learning things, I see benefit in exercise and eating

right and sleeping right, I see benefit in associating with good

quality people. Those are my priorities. So when you incorporate

change, incorporate change that’s going to be aligned with your

priorities.

And then, of course, the final step, the E in NICE is Embrace.

You’ve got to embrace the new you. If you don’t stick with this, if

you don’t own this, we talked about owning it, if you don’t own

this as if this is you now, guess what happens? It can start to slip

away. So you avoid that entirely by embracing it, just own it, that’s

you now. Yeah, you did that, you noticed something, you

intervened, you made a change and that’s the new you.

Hey, everybody else, get used to it! That’s the new me, that’s the

way things are now. You know, when change happens, change

happens as soon as you allow it to happen. So if you want to

change the way you dress, changing the way you eat, changing the

way you exercise, changing the friends you hang out with, you

know when that starts? When you embrace it. If you embrace it

right now, that’s when it starts, that’s when it starts as part of your

new life.

Not part of a new routine that you’re making yourself do. When

you embrace it, it really starts, because it starts being your life.

Module 8: How Do You Change Negative

Thoughts, Feelings and Actions Into Positive

Ones?

You know, I think a big part of changing anything, like we talked

about the NICE technique in the previous module, a big part of that

is becoming aware of what’s going on, becoming aware of your

situation. I mean, let’s face it, if you weren’t aware that there’s a

disconnect between where you are and where you want to be, you

probably wouldn’t be listening to this program.

Now I realize you may be listening to it because you want more

information or perhaps you like positive messages, and that’s fine,

but I would think that in most cases, someone listening to this,

listening to my words right now, wants to make a change, because

there’s a difference between where they are and where they want

to be.

So being aware of the situation that you’re in is going to be very

powerful for you. That’s going to allow you to make that change.

So, the first step, of course, is realizing that there’s something

going on.

Now, I’m going to offer you something as an alternative to the

NICE technique, because I want you to realize, there’s more than

one way to get things done. Or, you can use several different ways,

you can use hypnosis, you can use the NICE technique, you can

use what I’m going to talk about in this module, you can use

everything if you want. Or, you can pick and choose what works

for you, but the point is not to get caught up in the process and stay

focused on the outcome that you want, that’s where I really want

your mind to be with this stuff.

I want you to be focused on the outcome, because when I see

people get focused on the process, what happens? Mastermind

group. Now, I’m just saying that to remind you of what I was

talking about in another module where I was talking about the

mastermind group that was really not going anywhere. There are a

lot of perfectly legitimate, perfectly powerful and good and

beneficial mastermind groups, and I belong to a few of them, but

I’ve also seen some where the only thing that’s going on is

everyone is making it ok for everyone else to not achieve. And I

know that’s very straight to the point, but you’ve got to start

looking at reality. You’ve got to start seeing, are the things that I’m

doing in my life actually advancing me forward, or are they just

ways for me to fool myself and feel good?

Now, if you find out that they are just ways to fool yourself and

feel good, you’ve still got a choice there. You want to continue

living in that, and maybe you do, maybe you’re perfectly content

with that. But maybe you don’t, and as I’ve said, I suspect that

you’re in the latter group. You don’t want to keep living in that,

you want to move forward. So what do you do?

You start to take different actions. You start to get really focused

on the results. You know what’s interesting when you get paid to

produce results, you get a lot better at what you do. You know a

surgeon, you know, you get paid to show up and do their job

anyway they feel like doing it. no, they’re paid to get results.

People want to see results, they want to see that heart surgery go

the right way, or at least they want to understand that the heart

surgeon did everything the way he or she was supposed to do

everything. Not that they just showed up and thought, “well, ok it’s

my job, I’m just doing my job, I’ll just kind of do it, and I’ll get

through, but, you know, just doing my thing.”

That’s a lot different than thinking, “I’m going to produce this

result, that’s what I’m here to do, I’m going to produce this result,

I’m going to make it happen.” And it’s going to happen through

using means that are, of course, legal and ethical and moral, but

they’re also effective. They actually get the job done, and I’m

going to measure the results that I get to make sure the job is

actually getting done. And if it’s not getting done, I’m going to

make some changes.

So there’s a big difference, and I’ve been fortunate to work on the

side of results, my job is to get results for people. People purchase

weight loss recordings and motivation recordings and confidence

recordings and they expect a result, and so I’m focused on that. I

want to deliver the result. And so when you get to work in a

results-oriented capacity, you get really good. And I’m not

bragging about that, because anyone in that type of capacity would

have to be good, or they’d get washed out. No results. Washed out.

So you have to get good, so that’s the advantage that I’ve had. And

so if you don’t have that advantage where you have to produce

results in order to keep your job, in order to keep your career or

what have you, then you need to set that as a standard for yourself.

You’re not going to accept mediocrity anymore. You’re not going

to accept lack of accomplishment anymore. You’re not going to

accept going in circles anymore, because the results aren’t there.

Sometimes the system needs to be rebuilt, sometimes the system

needs to be abandoned, and a new system needs to be embraced or

built. And sometimes everything is going perfectly fine and you

just didn’t realize it because you hadn’t looked.

How are you going to know anything until you take a look? Until

you take an honest look. So, when we talk about change, we talk

about letting go of negative thoughts, we’re talking about a lot

more than that, because we’re talking about what we want to move

toward. I mean, hey, you might find negative thoughts

entertaining. I mean, you might even like them from time to time,

you might think, hey, it’s fun to think negatively because after all,

when I do that it allows me to laugh at things. Well some of that

can be helpful. Sometimes when you have a little bit of what they

call dark humor, when you can laugh at things not going well, that

can actually help things, it can at least be a good coping

mechanism while you get your plan together. So those things do

have their place.

If you’re dwelling on negativity and you’re doubting yourself and

you’re doubting your possibilities and you’re doubting that things

will work out and you’re doubting that your friends can be

successful because how can they be successful, you’re not. If

you’re in that situation, then that needs to change.

That needs to change because those types of negative thoughts will

hold you down, and there’s a good chance that if you’re resonating

with what I’m saying right now that that’s what’s going on with

you. Are you getting a little too caught up in that, it’s gone beyond

being a joke, it’s become part of your life.

So I want you to realize that until you start making changes, even

trivial seeming changes like not taking part in jokes that say, “ho

yeah, that’s just because I’m broke, that’s just because I don’t have

a job, that’s just because that’s the way things go for me.” You

know, those things become mantras after awhile, they become

hypnotic, they become your programming, they become your life.

So, if you’re getting caught up in that, I invite you to let go of that.

So when we talk about changing negative thoughts, the reason we

even care about that is because your thoughts determine your

trajectory, and your trajectory determines your entire life. So

realize that thoughts have a very powerful place in your life. So

how do you change them?

Well you change your negative thoughts by no longer associating

with people who talk like that, or if they happen to be family

members, you happen to be married to them, they happen to be

your parents, I’m not saying to separate yourself from those

people. But what I am saying is you can minimize your exposure

to the negative things they say, and you can also crank up the

exposure you have to positive things. You can counter that

negativity with positivity, you can start hanging around with

groups or people who actually do believe in you and do believe in

themselves and they feel good enough about themselves to feel

good about you. You can start hanging around with those people,

and once you do that, you find that they know people who are like

that also, and those people who they know who are like that, well

they know people who are like that too. And every now and then

they have parties or get togethers and they like to get together and

talk about what they’re going to do, about what they’re going to

accomplish, about how anything is possible.

And it gets better and better and better and it builds on itself.

That’s a lot different than continuing to do what you may have

been doing, talking negatively, finding people who are also not

really going anywhere. And that helps you feel ok about it, it helps

you think, “well, ok, guess it’s alright, guess it’s the new normal, I

guess that’s ok now, and I’ll just do that.”

You see, if you want something, if you want to achieve something,

you’ve got to change your negative thoughts, and the way you do

that is, one of the ways, is by eliminating or stopping the flow of

negative thoughts from others into your mind. So sometimes with

family members it can be a little challenging, you’re still going to

have them in your lives, hopefully forever, and that’s ok. You just

minimize your contact with their negative input and you maximize

your contact with others who have positive things to say.

So what about your feelings? What about changing negative

feelings? I mean, is it really that simple? Well, there’s a lot of

cutting edge research that strongly indicates that the way we move

our bodies can determine how we feel. Now, for a long time, we,

being we in the world of psychology, I’m not a licensed

psychologist, I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and

I’ve taken graduate classes in psychology, but my doctorate and

my masters degree are both in education. But from the world of

psychology, we’re learning that the way you stand or sit or an

expression you make with your face, that can determine how you

feel.

So you may look at feelings as something that control you, you

may think, “well, I‘d like to change negative feelings, but aren’t

feelings those things that happen because something happens and

you react to it, you have a feeling about it?” Well sure, that’s a part

of being human, that’s what feelings are, but they’re also a lot

more than that. Feelings can happen as a result of what you do, not

just the other way around. Something happens to you or you do

something, you feel good.

Feelings can happen because you’re specifically doing something

that is effecting your feelings in that moment. I’m not just talking

about achieving something, graduating from something, earning

something, getting a raise, getting a promotion, getting a job you

want, something like that. I’m not just talking about that, of course

those things make you feel good. I’m talking about standing in a

certain way.

I’m telling you that current research shows that if you put your

hands on your hips, just that action alone with your feet shoulder

width apart, you’re going to feel better if you maintain that

position for a couple of minutes. Isn’t that interesting. Here

perhaps you thought that you were controlled by your feelings or

feelings were just a reaction to your environment, but what if I told

you you could master your feelings? What if I told you you could

control your feelings? What if I told you you no longer have to be

at the mercy of your feelings?

Does that mean you’re not going to be a feeling person? No. does

that mean you’re not going to be sad sometimes? Of course not, of

course you’ll be sad sometimes, things will happen. Life happens,

that’s the way it goes. But I’m telling you, in many instances you

can take control of your feelings. So that’s just one way, putting

your hands on your hips.

There are ways that you can help yourself feel more abundant and

start attracting more people to you. When you talk, when you talk

about yourself, when you talk about what’s going on, how do you

talk? Do you know how confident, powerful people talk in a

conversation? They slow down, they talk slowly, they take those

pregnant pauses as they call them, they’ll pause for awhile when

talking, and then say something else.

They don’t hurry as if they’ve got limited time to talk, as if what

they have to say isn’t very important, as if they should probably

get it out of the way so that the more important people can talk.

No, they take their time, they own the stage. Whatever the stage

may be, maybe it’s a microphone, maybe it’s a telephone, maybe

it’s an office. They own the stage by taking their time.

So you can do this, this is something you can do. Next time you’re

talking with someone, realize that not only can you change your

feelings about yourself by slowing down when you talk, making

you feel better about yourself, but you can change other people’s

feelings because they are naturally programmed to perceive you as

being more confident when you slow down. Isn’t that interesting.

They are already programmed, all you have to do is press the right

button. So you slow down, that’s the right button, you’re pressing

it. That activates them into thinking, “hey, this person is a person

to really listen to because look at all this time they’re taking

talking, look at all of these pauses they’re taking, they’re not

rushing through as if what they have to say isn’t important and

they should get through it.” no, they’re taking their time.

So, putting your hands on your hips, speaking slowly, these are just

two of the ways that you can change your negative feelings. What

about actions? How do you become aware of negative actions?

And how do you change those negative actions into positive ones?

Well, this gets back to modern psychology, which believes, and I

agree, that what’s really important is what’s serving or not serving

the client. Are they getting the change they want? As long as

they’re not hurting anyone, not doing anything illegal or immoral,

are they getting the change they want by doing that. As strange as

it may sound to the therapist, therapists are currently trained to

embrace it, as long as it’s moral, not hurting anyone, not illegal.

If it makes the client feel good or helps them advance toward their

goal. Isn’t that interesting. What standard do you apply in your life

to your actions? How do you judge your actions? Are you avoiding

doing certain things because you think you might look funny? Are

you avoiding going back to school at a certain age because you

think it might look strange? Are you avoiding starting over,

starting a different career because you’re afraid that it might look a

certain way? And it might look a certain way, but so what?

Action is what matters. And if you don’t start taking action, if you

don’t start just going for it, it’s not going to happen. So, in my

opinion, a negative action is one that you’re taking, but it’s not in

the direction that you want it to be. Maybe you’re holding back,

maybe you’re just thinking about taking those classes, or just

thinking about making that career change, but you’re not taking

action because, well, think of how it would look and think of all

the negativity I’d get from it.

Remember, you’re starting something small, sometimes it’s better

to do it privately and crate a vision board. You don’t want to show

people because they might put it down. Sometimes actions can be

the same way. If you have friends that might put those actions

down, you don’t have to feel obligated to tell them about what

you’re doing. But if you have positive friends or a new group of

friends who have already achieved that goal, then they’re going to

understand.

But these actions that I’m talking about, people can really get

caught up in actions. I’m going to make an action list, I’m going to

have a list of things to do today. I was talking with someone the

other day and they were telling me about ten things they did that

day, and with each thing that they said to me, with each thing that

they told me, I was thinking, “what a waste of time it was.” And at

the end of the day they were exhausted, and they felt really good

about what they had done, but in my opinion, they hadn’t done

anything, because they hadn’t really done anything important.

Now, I realize the need for fun and recreation, that’s not what I’m

talking about here. This person did not have a to-do list of fun and

recreation. It was a lot of doing this for someone else or going back

to there for that person, doing a lot of things for other people. And

I realize the power of that too, it’s a person that made an entire day

of it. And I started thinking to myself, “how many days a week

does this person do things just for other people when they really

need to do something for themselves?” This was a person that

needed to do something for themselves.

And so I want to share this with you because I don’t want you

getting caught up in just doing things. A negative action is one that

doesn’t move you closer to your goal. If you’re doing something

and it’s a complete waste of your time and it’s not entertaining and

it’s not giving you any kind of pleasure whatsoever, why are you

doing it?

Think about that. Change your actions and you change your life.

You do that by getting very clear, being very honest with yourself.

That’s one of the themes that I’ve been very adamant about in this

program, honesty. Being honest with yourself, because until you’re

honest with yourself with where you are vs. where you want to be,

then how are you going to make a change?

So get honest with yourself. Allow yourself to be open to yourself

so you can be open to change. Get some data points, figure out

where you are to the best of your knowledge, where are you in

relation to where you want to be, where are you on the map, find

yourself. Find a way to measure the distance between where you

are and where you want to be, and then create a strategic plan to

get yourself there.

That’s abundance in action. That’s how I became wealthy, and

that’s how you can do it too.
