Time…

Let's say that an average person lives 80 years. This means 29,200 days. Let's round it off. An ordinary life consists of 30,000 days. If you read me, I assume that at least 7,300 days have elapsed of this (you are at least 20 years old).If had to guess the average age of my readers, I'd say they have lived at least 10,000 days already. There are still 20,000 days remaining, so 2/3 of life is yet to come. But why do I write this?

The power of the time value

This might sound very obsessed, but I often think in the time value of an option when I need to make a decision in my own life. I have had almost 14,000 days so far. I will soon reach the half. The time value decreases rapidly towards maturity in options trading. In life, time is re-evaluated towards "maturity". That means, the value of time will be different in five years than it was 10 years ago. The focus and priority change. I had 2-3 years to learn something, but I do not have any more.

The power of the time value

As you get older, you have to prioritize better and better. Remember, what it was like to be 18 years old. You felt that the world was in front of you, nothing was impossible, you had time for everything. You had plenty of time. You did not have to go to work, nor raise children, nor take care of daily matters. The question of priorities practically did not arise. You did what you wanted to do. 4

Automation

Based on my experience as an IT specialist, I try to automate repetitive, periodically recurring things in my life as much as possible, so that they do not take time away from me. I tend to spend days elaborating something so that I do not have to spend time on it later, on a daily, weekly basis.

I buy time with time.

My first workday

I clearly remember my first workday. In the morning, I woke up excited and went to work. However, at the end of the day, a thought hit me on the way home, "Will I have to sell my time to someone every day from now on?" I can still recall this feeling in my stomach. I deal with the "question of selling time" since a very young age. I never suspected that this concept would get a material meaning later on (write-out of options). Now, that I do not have to sell my time any longer, the principle has not changed. I automate what I can or outsource it to somebody (get somebody do it).

What does this have to do with trading?

On one hand, the sale of time as a concept appears only here in the trading world. I benefit from selling options, i.e. time, on the market. As time goes by, the profit increases (if it did not move very much against me). That means I sold time, but not my own. Someone on the other side bought time and it is working against him.The other side of this train of thought is the usefulness of your time. How do you use the rest of your time? Do you sit at your computer 8 hours a day and chase the market? How long? What is your priority?I have chosen options trading because of its limited time consumption. At first, it is obviously more, but if you have some experience, 1-2 hours a day are enough for profitable trading. 7

Misbelief

Some people came to me with the misbelief that options trading is passive income. It is anything but passive. Options need some "work", you have to learn it and then deal with it on a daily/weekly basis. The question is, what is your vision and how does this fit into that? The key is awareness. You have to be aware what's important, what you want to spend your time with and what pays off for you.

Time is money

Especially in options trading. Do you have two - three years to learn it by yourself, or will you "buy" my 10 years of experience spent on this?

I personally like buying knowledge very much. I love things where I can buy time and experience of others.

Time is money

Recently, I attended a training session where the speaker read 40 books on the topic and spent two years and immeasurable amount of time on it. The essence of the whole was handed over in two days. Of course, I have to gain the experience myself in the subject, but I do not need to read 40 books and stumble along for two years. That is, I won two years, I bought time for money. So, time is money.

How much is your time worth?
