How Insulating Your Home Will Help You Save Money Energy consumption is a real problem in the United Kingdom, a problem which has prompted the government to make considerable and efficient steps in order to shrink energy consumption. Given that most UK homes make use of conventional and non-renewable energy sources, such as gas or coal, it is only natural that the government has thought about how to make British homes more energy efficient. Of course, making plans to support people to use renewable energy would have been a much more laudable attempt, but not a very realistic one, this is why the government has thought about a way of minimizing energy consumption in as many British households as possible. Following this train of thought, the government came up with the ECO plan- a scheme which combines financial, ecological and welfare concerns. Reducing high energy consumption The whole idea of the plan is to make it possible for people to have access to some means of limiting energy consumption. Part of the plan is giving home insulation grants to people who would otherwise not be able to afford such a renovation. Of course, not everyone is eligible to get free insulation, but only some categories of the population. For insulation grants, people who are currently receiving specific forms of government benefits, credits or allowances are eligible to apply. Moreover, those who live in certain areas of the country, namely in low income post code areas which are prone to fuel poverty can access these grants, regardless of benefits, income or other circumstance.
