HOW DESIGNERS
FAILWREN LANIER // @HEYWREN
Things got really busy, really fast
#FAIL
Great UX requires more than deliverables
We fail to take initiative
You are responsible for your design process
Don’t wait for an invitation to do the work you want
1. Briefly describe what this feature will do.
2. Why are we building this?
3. What do we want to learn from this?
4. How will we know if we're successful?
Minimum Viable Kickoff Meeting
Look for opportunities to improve everything
We fail to include learning in every project

The Senior Designer
Think of your designs as experiments
Hypothesis:
We can improve the Latest Activity UI by removing the List View option and adding better filters and more accurate metadata
Design Experiment:
Remove the List View and replace with filters on user and recording type
Measurement:
• Analytics — use of the new filters
• Positive comments about new filters
• Complaints from users about loss of List View
Reduce your risk of failure by focusing on learning
We fail to share UX with others
Make your entire team part of the UX process
Share your work early and often
Giving up controlcan be very difficult
What will you do to be a better designer?
