What is 3D printing ?
3D printing is an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes.
After creating the form on a computer, the printer makes the form the same way the traditionnal printer prints on a regular sheet of paper.
What is 3D printing ?
How does it work?
The printing is madelayer by layer
*there are other processes but we won’t talk about them here
Any object can be created on a computer, and then be shared
and printed anywhere.

The printing can be made in plastic, cement, gypsum, ceramic, metal, carbon fiber, sugar...
(the list is still growing...)

How can3D printing
makethe economy
more circular?(in other words, using less energy
without generating waste)
The printing is madelayer by layer
Only what’s necessaryis printed.
3D printing enables «zero waste»
production from the beginning.
«3D printing gives us the ability to build layer by layer, it even gives us the ability to think about putting a layer of one material, a layer of another material, like Nature does.»Janyne Benyus - founder of Biomimicry 3.8

No more warehouse and transportation cost.

There will be more and morelocal and biosourced filaments
(no oil, no water needed to make the filament)
The Seaweed filament is exclusively based on black seaweed.
Reusing material will be much easier.

Instead of selling an object,a designer or a brand will sell
its printing plans.

A brand can print a personnalised product.
In the US, Nike or New Balance print on demand & personalized soles for their athlete shoes.

In workshops, people will be able to fix their objects by printing the
missing or broken part.

Brands will rethinktheir products and business
models to enable easier hacking and fixing with 3D printing.
Brands could give their 3D printing plans to enable their customers to print the fragile pieces.

It’s just the beginning...
«In that printer, let’s make sure we put some aqueous chemistry which is what Life does. We are all going to be using nanoparticles as those in our print cartridges. Life is nanoparticles all the time. Nature was nanoparticles before nano was cool.
