Principal Adjudicator - Tori Brandwood
Born and educated in Norfolk, Tori (Victoria) Brandwood has always had a passion for music. From a young age, she attended the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music where she studied flute and piano, and held the position of first flute in the Symphony orchestra performing at Cadogan Hall and St. John’s Smiths Square. At the age of 14, she gained one of the 15 places available on the Aldeburgh Young Musicians’ Creative Musicianship course studying with many leading musicians.
Tori won a music scholarship to Norwich School sixth form and as well as becoming head of Parker house, took part in many concerts and competitions winning both the Bernard Burrell and Deveson music prizes.
She then went on to study music at Manchester University where she participated in choirs, ensembles and was principle flautist in the Manchester University Orchestra.
Subsequently, she entered the teaching profession and is currently teaching music at Prior Park College, Bath, where she is also a Deputy housemistress.
Her hobbies include fitness pursuits, netball and squash, and she is also a Second Lieutenant for her school’s army section of the CCF!
Assistant Adjudicator - Dr Amy Mallett
Amy is a composer, educator and researcher from Suffolk. She lectures in Music, Music Technology, Performing Arts and Fine Art. As well as writing musicals, Amy is involved with many projects designed to engage different areas of the community with the arts. Currently musical director for Unscene Suffolk, a theatre company for adults with visual impairment, she also works as Associate Musician for English National Ballet and External Moderator for University of the Arts, London.
Amy recently completed a PhD in music composition and approaches to interdisciplinary collaboration at Bath Spa University.
