Sean Gale

This will be my 8th BSME games that I have organized and taken a team to. I have organized trips around the Middle East, Italy, OAA trips to Fujairah and when I was teaching in the UK I organized Football tours to Barcelona and Valencia, OAA Trips to Kingswood on the Isle of Wight and trips to Disneyland Paris for my year group when I was head of year 7.

I love sport and I love everything about sport, the team work, the competitiveness, the working together, the desire to do well and the having fun. BSME is all this and more.

The under 11 games are called the friendly games.

Now in my eyes there is nothing friendly about competition but the Under 11 BSME games is so much than competition. The reason I like the BSME games so much is it allows new friendships to be fostered and grow from a mix of nationalities and races and schools.

This is my last year and I am extremely honored to take to Dubai such a wonderful group of children and looking forward to having a fantastic time with all of them.

Yes Alex Stanard, even you

Matthew Lockwood This is my second year now teaching at DBGS. It's a great place to work but

one of the only drawbacks for me is that I no longer get to teach PE! So it's great to be involved with supporting the Under 11 BSME tournament this year. Sport plays a really important role in primary schools, bringing students together and teaching them sets of skills that can't always be taught in a classroom setting.

My love of sport stems from spending weekends in my youth with my uncles and brother watching Arsenal play at Highbury - the children in my class and staff at DBGS can attest to the continued love of Premier League football! To me, sports personalities become successful not only by being good at their chosen sport, but by acting with integrity while competing; maintaining this in victory and defeat. I think it's something that needs to be instilled from a young age and we do that well at DBGS.

Having experienced a BSME tournament last year when Mr Gale organised the DBGS tournament which was hosted by St. Christophers, I can say that the children in KS2 will gain a lot from participating; the chance to play, to compete, to socialise, to name but a few.

Finally I want to say that we have a great team of staff chaperoning in Mrs Young, Miss Crane and especially Mr Gale, all with a huge variety of different skills and experiences. I cannot wait to get out there and be vocal on the sidelines.

Jo Young

This is my third year at DBGS having worked previously at BISAK for Four Years.

Since joining DBGS I have been one of the netball coaches, and as a team we have had some great successes in SAIKAC, BSME and Saudi Games competitions. I started playing netball at the age of 10 and later went on to represent my county, so it is great for me to see these young athletes showing potential, developing their skills and gaining confidence.

Although I love all sport, my real passion is swimming; I swam competitively joining firstly a local swim team, I loved having the strength and stamina and soon became addicted, my poor parents! I swam regionally and nationally and had the privilege of being coached by one of England’s finest coaches. I retired and took up coaching in pools in and around Cambridgeshire, then later taking a huge interest in developing my own two children and started coaching here at Lasers.

BSME is a fantastic opportunity for our young athletes, they will each and every one grow during the four days, not only from a sporting side but emotionally and socially working together as a team. I can’t wait to be part of that, shouting encouragement from the sidelines very vocally!!!

Pain is only temporary, but victory is forever!!

Natalie Crane

Although new to DBGS this year, I have been teaching for 8 years. All of my previous was in the UK where I had lived for the previous 29 years of my life.

In my previous school I was PE Coordinator, organising as many sporting events with as many participants as possible. My aim was always to help each child find a sport that they could take part in with a smile. Whilst we compete to win, it's always nice to enjoy the experience.

I love sport! I will watch almost any sport and have tried playing most, although it fair to say that I didn't enjoy them all...............cricket!!

Netball is my absolute passion, I have played since I was 10 years old starting at C, moving to GA before my height eventually put me into defence. I have played in several leagues, serious and social, reaching regional level last year. This meant most of weekends were taken up traveling across the south of England to play netball. I dearly miss my team, and the sport but coaching the next generation of netballers is the next best thing.

I'm really looking forward to the BSME games, although I don't plan on coming back with my voice in tact!!!! (It's a good job it'll be spring break!)
