The Hot Dog Book is named because the first fold is the long way and resembles a hot dog bun. The second fold, the short way, looks like a hamburger bun. Food. It makes everything better.

Supplies: Paper Scissors

Age Range: 4 and Up

Approximate Cost: $30 for 25 people or $1.20 each with tools (set of 6) or $6 for 25 people or $.25 each for supplies

1) Fold the paper in half. Like a hot dog bun.

2) Open the paper and fold it in half the short way. It will form a tent with a fold in the middle.

3) Take the bottom edge of each fold to meet the middle. Repeat this fold to form a W.

4) Cut the center of the W along the center fold. You’ll be cutting through two layers of paper and stopping at the cross fold. (Cut from the top of the middle mountain and stop at the two valleys.)

5) Grab the two sides separated by the center cut and fold them down to form a standing star. Fold into a flat book by bringing the three sections together.

Inspired by and adapted from instructions by Stanley Strauss via the Brooklyn Artists Alliance and their original Hot Dog Book instructions.
