Ask the Holy Spirit to make them aware of (1) the Open Heaven over

their life, (2) their ability to hear God’s voice,

and (3) their inheritance in the Kingdom of God.

Introduction• There is an ANCIENT CRY that has ECHOED

throughout every GENERATION. It is a CRY for HEAVEN to INVADE the EARTH, for the LORD God to COME DOWN, to DISPLAY His POWER in behalf of His people (Isaiah 64:1-5). At times the LORD seems far away, far out beyond the Heavens, completely out of reach. The HEART CRY is bursting forth for the LORD to COME from the HEAVENS into the midst of His people. When the LORD COMES DOWN, the MOUNTAINS QUAKE at His appearing and the NATIONS TREMBLE before His presence. The VISIBLE MANIFESTATION of the LORD renders an AWE-INSPIRING state.

Introduction• At the Baptism of JESUS, the HEAVENS were

OPENED and the PRESENCE of GOD CAME DOWN (Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22; John 1:29-34). As promised, the LORD came DOWN so that His PRESENCE would be known throughout the earth (Isaiah 64:4). The ANCIENT CRY was ANSWERED with an OPEN HEAVEN followed by the CONFIRMATION of the SPIRIT and PRESENCE of the LORD God. This OPEN HEAVEN experience BEQUEATHED and ensured our OPEN HEAVEN. This means we have INHERITED the OPEN HEAVEN of JESUS through BIRTHRIGHT and SONSHIP. The HEAVENS are TORN OPEN.

Introduction• Since JESUS fulfilled the FOUR DAYS of the PASCHAL LAMB, the THREE remaining DAYS must be FULFILLED. According to John 1:29, 35 and 43, the THREE DAYS are depicted in the LIFE of JESUS. On DAY ONE, the BAPTISM of JESUS occurred and the HEAVENS were OPENED. On DAY TWO, JESUS began to CALL the CHURCH unto Himself, “Come and follow Me…” (John 1:39,43). On DAY THREE, JESUS bequeathed the OPEN HEAVEN unto the CHURCH. “You will see Heaven open…” (v. 51).

Introduction• Note when JESUS was BAPTIZED the DOVE

descended and REMAINED upon Him. In the Old Testament the SPIRIT of GOD came upon men only on special occasions. The SPIRIT never came and remained upon men. The uniqueness of Christ is illustrated in the fact that the SPIRIT DESCENDED upon Him and REMAINED upon Him (John 1:32-33). The HOLY SPIRIT entered the LIFE of CHRIST once-for-all, permanently and powerfully, in FULL MANIFESTATION and UNLIMITED POWER (John 3:34). Through JESUS, the CHURCH has INHERITED an OPEN HEAVEN.

Introduction• “I will place on His shoulder the key of the house

of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and He shall shut, and none shall open” (Isaiah 22:22). “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the Holy One, the True One, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens. I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and have not denied My NAME” (Revelation 3:7-8). The CHURCH has INHERITED the OPEN HEAVEN of JESUS Christ and the DEVIL can NOT CLOSE it! Glory!!!

What Is An Open Heaven?

An “OPEN HEAVEN” is a VISION where a PORTAL APPEARS in the Heaven, the CELESTIAL REALM is

DISCLOSED and HEAVENLY SIGHTS of

GOD become SEEABLE.

The term “OPEN HEAVEN” refers the KINGDOM of GOD in MANIFESTATION. It is the REVELATION of the GLORY of GOD. It is the TANGIBLE

PRESENCE of the LORD. It is HEAVENLY ACTIVITY in and

on earth.

Examples of “OPEN HEAVENS”

in the Scripture

Read Genesis 28:10-22

JACOB had an OPEN HEAVEN at

BETHEL as he saw ANGELS on the

LADDER of GOD. This is a first mention.

Having received the BIRTHRIGHT and the BLESSING under scrutiny, JACOB flees to Haran, his uncle Laban’s house (Genesis 27:1-28:9). He was about 77 years old at this time. Exhausted, he made a PILLOW out of a STONE and laid down to sleep. While JACOB SLEPT, his DREAM became an OPEN HEAVEN experience. It is FIRST MENTIONED of its kind. What concepts are derived from this OPEN HEAVEN?

Note God gave four great PROVISIONS to meet his need. These same FOUR great PROVISIONS exist to meet the needs and crises of our lives.

(1) There was the VISION of a GREAT LADDER or stairway stretching all the way from earth up into HEAVEN. What did the stairway symbolize for Jacob? A way has been provided for man to reach HEAVEN, a way provided by God Himself.

(2) There was the VISION of ANGELS, a stream of angels, ASCENDING and DESCENDING upon the stairway. What did the angels symbolize? As agents of the Kingdom of God, they fulfill the business of the KING and His Kingdom.

(3) There was the VISION of GOD’S PRESENCE in HEAVEN, of God standing above the ladder, above the very top of it. This is a picture of the sovereign control of God, His supreme power to control all affairs between HEAVEN and earth.

(4) There was GOD’S WORDS and PROMISES (Genesis 28:13-15). He is the GOD of COVENANT and He keeps His PROMISES.

MOSES had an OPEN HEAVEN

when he received the REVELATION of

the LAW and TABERNACLE.

ISAIAH had an OPEN HEAVEN

when he saw the LORD in His glory

on His Throne.

EZEKIEL witnessed an OPEN HEAVEN

as he “saw VISIONS of GOD”.

NATHANIEL was promised

an OPEN HEAVEN.

This is a picture of JACOB’S LADDER (Genesis 28:10-22). It is a picture of OPEN ACCESS into the very PRESENCE of GOD: the DOOR of HEAVEN is OPEN and the ANGELS are ASCENDING from EARTH to HEAVEN on the SON of MAN.

JESUS was saying that “He is Jacob’s ladder”; the LADDER is a symbol of the LORD JESUS Christ. He is the One who OPENS HEAVEN. He is the One who is the PORTAL from EARTH to HEAVEN, the One by whom man has his communication carried up into HEAVEN.

Three critical facts should be noted. (1) A man can APPROACH GOD and ENTER the HEAVENLIES through Christ (John 14:6). (2) A man has ACCESS to GOD only through Christ (John 14:6). (3) A man can have CONSTANT COMMUNICATION with God. The picture is that of ANGELS carrying messages from EARTH to HEAVEN and back to earth again.

As STEPHEN was being STONED, he saw “the HEAVEN OPENED and JESUS standing

the right of God” ready to receive him.

Conclusion• This is a SEASON of EXPOSURE for the SAINTS of God.

It is a TIME of UNVEILING the SONS of GOD. It is an UNCOVERING of the GLORY of the LORD in the lives of believers. It is an OPENING of the EYES in VISION to SEE the POWER and GLORY of GOD. It is a TIME of OPEN HEAVENS over the earth. This OPENING is revealing the KINGDOM of GOD and its MANIFESTATION in the earth. The HOUR is a TIME for the OPENING of the EYES to SEE the VISION of God and of the MOUTH to SPEAK the oracle of God. It is an OPENING of DOORS to walk through, into and out of, POSSESS and RULE in the KINGDOM. As the “LAST DAYS” unfold such EXPERIENCES will only MULTIPLY! GOD is DOWNLOADING VISIONS into the EARTH in order to convey HIS MESSAGE and HIS PLAN. The “OPEN HEAVEN” is a TIME of the GLORY of the LORD in and through His CHURCH.
