DEVELOPING INDUSTRY TALENTS SINCE

2007

Established in 2007, we strive to provide dedicated hospitality education to train leaders and professionals in the hospitality and tourism industry. We impart skills and knowledge, and cultivate positive learning and work attitude. We achieve this with a sense of care for students and collaboration with industry partners.

To-date, our students from about 20 nationalities have been awarded certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, degree and master’s qualifications. SDH Institute’s alumni consist of Singaporeans and professionals from Asia and Europe. We take pride in the many and varied achievements of our students through their studies and their extra-curricular activities, and beyond the Institute, especially via public services and altruistic activities.

We continue to invest in both infrastructure and people, to deliver outstanding experience to our students. With caring for students in our agenda, we are opening access to bursaries for more students, and working with industry establishments to sponsor employees for upgrading. We continue to forge institutional engagement with overseas educational establishment and international accreditation bodies.

Internship prepares you for transition into a working professional. A 6-month industry attachment programme are available for some courses. You will be exposed to practical application of theories learned in school, and useful hands-on skills. Immersion in the actual working environment will help you develop the knowledge, supervisory skills and attitudes needed in providing service. Interaction with people will help you respond to customers as well as manage vendors.

At the end of the programme, you should have more confidence and service know-how to work with customers. The experience will help develop the right attitude and positive outlook for service delivery.

Depending on your choice of internship company (including going abroad), the experience and job nature will differ. You should therefore research and plan ahead on what kind of companies to approach for industry attachment, The feedback and progress of your

internship experience will provide you with a very useful gauge for evaluating career

prospects.

SINGAPORE

Singapore, located in Southeast Asia, enjoys a sunny climate throughout the year. With a total population of more than 5 million, the society is multi-racial and multi-cultural. English is the official business language, with 3 other official ethnic languages used — Malay, Chinese, and Tamil. For some international students, the cost of living in Singapore is relatively expensive. However, student discounts and cheap options are available, including affordable food centres. We encourage you to seek advice from seniors or members of our student council on managing living costs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE), established under the Private Education Act, is a statutory board sanctioned with the legistrative power to regulate the private education sector. Our CPE Registration Number is 200714877H; registration period is valid from 26/09/2015 - 25/09/2019. We were awarded CPE’s 4-Year EduTrust certification, which validates our policies and processes, some of which are highlighted below. More information is available at https://www.cpe.gov.sg

Under the FPS, SDH has in place an insurance arrangement with Lonpac Insurance Bhd, a CPE-appointed insurance provider, to protect the course fees paid by all students. The FPS insurance serves to protect the student’s fees in the event that the PEI is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. In addition, the FPS protects the student if the PEI fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgements made against it by the Singapore courts.

We provide medical insurance coverage for hospitalization and related medical treatment for all full-time students throughout the entire course.  Our medical insurance scheme is arranged through an international insurer.

For (I) Singapore citizens, permanent residents and international students not holding a Student Pass Permit; or (II) students under corporate sponsorship or corporate agreement signed between us and the sponsor, they can choose to opt out of the medical insurance scheme if they can show that they are already adequately covered through their own medical insurance.

Note: Medical Insurance is not applicable for part-time students or those on short courses (less than one month or 50 hours).

We are committed to fair and accurate fees. A standard Student Contract specifies the exact amount of total course fees, miscellaneous fees, payment terms, refund policies and schedule.

All international students are required to apply for a Students Pass with Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). You need to submit the following documentations.

Complete SDH Application Form;Complete Vatel Application Form (If applicable);Applicant’s Birth Certificate (Notary certified true copies of original and English translation);Applicant’s education certificate and result transcripts (Notary certified true copies of original and English translation);Documented proof of financial stability in the form of bank statement/fixed deposit accounts/saving accounts (for visa-required countries);Applicant and/or parent’s letter of employment with English translation (for visa-required countries);5 x applicant’s recent passport-sized photographs or scanned JPEG file (400 x 514 pixels);Photocopy of applicant’s valid Passport.
