Dear Peter, Kelvin and Chris Hospital Redevelopment Thank you for your letter which was sent via your agent, Philip Brownlie, in an e-mail dated 21 April 2011. We do recognise the legitimate concerns which local residents have with regard to the proposed hospital development and your interest in those. I know that you attend the Hospital Liaison Group which was set up in November 2009 and which has met 11 times since then. You will also know, therefore, that we are committed to an honest and open dialogue with local residents about these concerns. We are also committed to maintaining this dialogue and meetings dates for the rest of this year are already arranged. As part of this commitment to engage and listen, we have already amended our proposals a great many times to take account of the views of local residents, the Council planning officers and heritage groups such as English Heritage. We have also increased the amount of car parking which is proposed within the development. We are now moving towards the preparation of our Full Planning Application and as part of that, we will be bringing forward further proposals about our plans for construction traffic and construction logistics which, we hope, will go some way towards addressing residents concerns. We will continue to work with local residents, elected members and council officers to provide a teaching hospital which local people, and those of Sussex we also serve, can be justifiably proud.
