Social Groups in Horror/ThrillerThe social groups can vary depending on the narrative of the film. A good example of a social group which is featured in a horror films are large groups of teenagers, (Scream). Other times it can feature just one single person and their struggle against the antagonist.

Usually in Horror/thriller films the hero is viewed as a male character, They're depicted as being strong, fearless and heroic in nature.

The victim is often cast as a female, stereotypically women are seen as vulnerable and weak. Sometimes the female character is cast as the films hero and protagonist e.g. The Silence Of The Lambs

The villain/Antagonist can be cast either female or male depending on the theme, nature of the film and narrative. Sometimes depending on the genre the antagonist's gender is unknown like in Alien

In my opening sequence I will stick to the typical conventions of a female victim and a male killer or antagonist. I want to not use too many shots of their faces because I intend the whole opening sequence to remain quite ambiguous and leave the audience unsure to what is going on/happened.
