A mother has provoked anger and indignation in Kuwait after she left her five-month-old baby
inside a locked car for one hour to do her shopping.

mother returned.
The newspaper said that on seeing the crowd, she rushed to them, concerned that something
terrible had happened to her child.
When asked about her actions, she said that
she left the baby asleep and did not think that
he would wake up while she was doing her
shopping.
“he’s ot a slo , she’s ot o drugs, she looks like an ordinary, responsible, middle-class

Kidsorganization has helpful tips for preventing vehicular heat stroke.
Back seat: Put something in the back seat whenever you strap a child in, so you have to open
the back door, or at least turn around to find that item, when you get out of the car. Your
handbag or briefcase, cellphone, or employee badge.
Every child should be correctly restrained in the back seat.
Stuffed a i al: Keep a rightly olored o e i the ar seat he your hild is ’t there. The move it from the car seat to the front seat after you strap your child in, to remind you when
your baby is in the back seat.
Ask your baby sitter or child- are pro ider to all you ithi i utes if your hild has ’t arrived on time.
Focus on driving: Avoid cellphone calls and text-messaging while driving.

Every time you park your vehicle — every single time — open the back door to make sure no
one has been left behind.
I thi k that first tip is espe ially helpful. It’s a s art ay to for e yourself to re e er your child. Sad that anyone should need that reminder, but like I said — e’ e o e a ross a lot of sad stories. It happens to normal, well-meaning, responsible parents like you.
