A NOTE FROM THE ORGANISER...

Currently Thai industries continue to do well. This includes automotive and auto parts, electronics, construction materials, construction, hotels and tourism, hospitals and the health and beauty industry. This growth will be part of Thailand’s strength ahead of the liberaliza-tion and opportunities that will accompany the AEC. However, it is essential for entrepreneurs to adjust to the serious competition that will follow. Competing on cost alone will be more diffi cult in the future.

At present, Thailand ranks third in ASEAN on the higher minimum wage scale for the region after Singapore and Malaysia. Indonesia's labor costs are cheaper by half and Vietnam is approximately a third with Myanmar being the lowest. The AEC framework will make way for an ASEAN single market and regional production base. The downside is competition from neighboring countries with cheaper costs. Investors from Japan and China are also keen to benefi t and are prepared to move their production bases to the region. The U.S. and Europe have also expressed interest to invest more, especially at a time when their economies are still in a recovery mode. In the past Thailand focused on U.S., European and Japanese markets, but now ASEAN economies are growing at a stronger level.Currently, Thai export products to ASEAN accounted for almost 25 % of total exports. The border trade between Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam accounted for approximately 70 % of total exports to the U.S.

The above data indicates that entrepreneurs should focus their investments within ASEAN and especially on those developing countries rich in natural resources such as Myanmar and Cambodia. These countries have huge labor sources available at cheap labor prices and lower production costs. Thailand is able to manufacturer more sophisticated items and has the ability to employ more advanced technology and machinery. This has been helping to attract good busi-ness opportunities to the Kingdom. Growing domestic demand and the further development of our supply chain will further increase our competitiveness in the global market.

ASEAN Economic Value Rated At

$$1.5 TrillionRecently it has been noted that the economies of Germany and France will grow more than expected in the second quarter of 2014, better than the slow growth of the U.S. economy. The Eurozone is now out of a recession that lasted for a year and a half and the recovery of consumers in the zone will soon be underway. Together the zones form the two largest economies in the world consisting of 17 countries. However economists believe that growth will weaken in the fourth quarter, but is expected to be back to sustainable levels before 2015.

The ASEAN Economic Community or AEC will be offi cially launched in late 2015. It consists of 10 member countries with a combined population of over 600 million people and the economic value of $1.5 trillion. This single market opens new production opportunities and strong potential in terms of raw materials and markets. The AEC will create signifi cant business for local manufacturers in the electronic components, electric appliance, automotive and automotive parts industries. It will also help develop production networks, create fresh opportunities and establish ASEAN as the hub of the global supply chain.

Many foreign investors are using Thailand as a production base for the AEC before its offi cial launch. This is because Thailand has good existing modern infrastructure and sound logistic systems as well as a skilled workforce.

We are honored to have Khun Somkiat Chupukcharoen, President of the Thai Subcontracting Promotion Associationand Ajarn Kamon Nakasuwan, the newly elected President of the Thai Tool and Die Industry Association, share their views on how Thai industry should prepare for the upcoming the AEC.

สองสมาคมอุตสาหกรรมท่ีมีความสําคัญอยางมากในการชวยยกระดับผูประกอบการของไทยในการแขงขันที่คาดวาจะเกิดข้ึนอยางรุนแรงในอนาคต คุณสมเกียรติ ชูพรรคเจริญ นายกสมาคมสงเสริมการรับชวงการผลิตไทย และ อาจารยกมล นาคะสุวรรณ นายกสมาคมอุตสาหกรรมแมพิมพไทย ในโอกาสเขารับตําแหนงใหมในฐานะนายกสมาคมฯ เม่ือเร็วๆน้ีใหเกียรติมาเปดมุมมอง วิสัยทัศนในการผลักดันอุตสาหกรรมไทยรับเออีซี

Ajarn Kamon: “For many years, entrepreneurs in the Thai Mould and Die Industry have formed as a group to help each other enhance and develop Supporting Industries among members as well as non-members in the Industry. As a private operation the Association creates programs and activities to promote entrepreneurship. We started with metal moulds and plastic injection molding. There is now stronger growth and better quality of parts being manufactured which is recognized by car manufacturers in Thailand, especially those from Japan whose automotive production base is mainly located here.”

อาจารยกมล“อุตสาหกรรมแมพิมพไทยมีการรวมกลุมกันของผูประกอบการมานานบทบาทท่ีมองในการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมสนับสนุนและการบริการไมใชแคสมาชิกของสมาคมเทานั้น แตรวมไปถึงผูประกอบการในอุตสาหกรรมแมพิมพทั้งหมด สมาคมฯเปนองคกรเอกชนมีการรวมตัวทํากิจกรรมสงเสริมผูประกอบการ เราเริ่มตนที่แมพิมพปมโลหะกับแมพิมพฉีดพลาสติก ปจจุบันมีพัฒนาการที่เยอะพอสมควรทั้งประสิทธิภาพและคุณภาพของช้ินสวนที่เราทําการผลิตโดยเปนที่ยอมรับจากผูผลิตรถยนตในเมืองไทย และไดรับการสนับสนุนจากองคกรตางประเทศโดยเฉพาะจากประเทศญี่ปุน เนื่องจากฐานการผลิตสวนใหญที่นี้เปนโรงงานญี่ปุน”

Khun Somkiat: “The Thai Subcontracting Pro-motion Association was established 10 years ago and now includes a wide arrange of mem-bers in the automotive parts, electronics, rub-ber and packaging industries. The main goal of the Association is to assist entrepreneurs in their eff ort to fi nd new markets, new technol-ogy and provide knowledge by bring in foreign experts to train and give seminars to educate and improve the skills of our members. The key point is that members of the Association get the maximum benefi ts and are preparing for the AEC that will arrive in the near future.”

Khun Somkiat: “By fi nding business opportunities and linking business networks which will result in a larger market. We need to know our com-petitors and also know ourselves. This allows entrepreneurs to further develop and fi nd new marketing channels.”

คุณสมเกียรติ“การหาลูทางโอกาสและการเช่ือมโยงทางธุรกิจจะสงผลทําใหตลาดของเราใหญขึ้น โดยถารูเขารูเรา เรารูตัวเราระดับหนึ่ง เราควรหาขอมูลตางๆ เพื่อรูเขาใหไดดวย สวนตรงนี้ทําใหผูประกอบการของเราสามารถพัฒนาตอยอดหาตลาดและชองทางใหมๆไดสงู”

Ajarn Kamon: “I see very good opportunities in joining the AEC. We needto realize that all countries are business partners not competitors. I agreewith Khun Somkiat on business linkage being important along with tech-nology, production, marketing, joint ventures and subcontracting. We need to focus on the importance of education and create regional part-nerships. Linking technology will also help. Thailand is already advanced in some ways but we should fi nd new ways to develop in other areas such as cost control. We are currently manufacturing high quality products with very high pricing. Don’t expect that customers will continue to accept this. We need to rethink. This approach is wrong and it will be hard for us to continue.”

อาจารยกมล“สําหรับผมมองวาเปนโอกาสท่ีดี การรวมประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนอยากใหมองวาทุกประเทศเปนมิตรกันไมอยากใหเปนคูแขง ผมเห็นดวยกับคุณสม-เกียรติ การเช่ือมโยงเปนส่ิงสําคัญ เร่ืองเทคโนโลยีการผลิต การตลาด ในเร่ืองของการรวมทุน รับชวงตอกัน ที่สําคัญคือการใหความสําคัญกับการศึกษาที่มีหลักสูตรสอดคลองกัน ตองรวมกันคิดในระดับภูมิภาคมองเปนพันธมิตร มีการเชื่อมโยงเทคโนโลยีกัน ประเทศไทยอาจจะกาวหนาไปแลวในบางเรื่อง เราจะหาวิธีพัฒนาในสวนอื่นๆ ตอไปเชนควบคุมตนทุนราคา เราจะผลิตของดีกําหนดราคาสูง ถาคาดหวังวาเขาจะมาซ้ือของเราเยอะๆ ผมคิดวาคิดผิดแลวเปนไปไดยากเลย”

Ajarn Kamon: “In the beginning, we should start with our neighboring countries, by exporting fi nished products to them. For the long-term Thai manufacturers should manufacture tooling equipment and Mould and Die products to be sent to neighboring countries.”

อาจารยกมล “ชวงตนควรจะเร่ิมตนกับกลุมเพ่ือนบานของเราโดยการสงออกผลิตภัณฑสําเร็จรูปจากเมืองไทยไปท่ีประเทศเพื่อนบานของเรากอน ระยะยาวเปนโอกาสของผูผลิตไทยในการนํา ทูลล่ิง แมพิมพ โมลล ดายลฯ จากบานเราไปทําการผลิตในประเทศเพ่ือนบาน”

Khun Somkiat: “I agree that basic education should be adjusted in the same way. In the future development of the AEC, technology will play a role in helping enhance our abilities. Viewing neighboring countries as partners will help Thailand become more of a manufacturing hub. One of the issues concerning education mentioned by Ajarn Kamon, referred to how the government is changing the school term and also adjust-ing education curriculums to synchronize with other ASEAN countries. Our government should come out with a policy that focuses the AEC countries in this direction and makes the AEC either a manufacturing hub for cheap goods or a group of countries that are recognized as a manufacturing hub for quality products.”

คุณสมเกียรติ“พ้ืนฐานการศึกษาผมเห็นดวยเปนอยางย่ิง ควรมีการปรับพ้ืนฐานการศึกษาไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน อยางนอยการเติบโตของเออีซีในอนาคต เทคโนโลยีเปนสวนหน่ึงท่ีทําใหเรามีศักยภาพ และมองวาแตละประเทศเปนมิตรมีการตอยอดทางธุรกิจได ไทยเราสามารถเปนศูนยกลางท่ีมีขนาดใหญไดดวย ประเด็นท่ีหน่ึงที่อาจารยกมลทิ้งทายไวเรื่องการศึกษาคิดวาขณะนี้รัฐบาลมีการปรับเร่ืองเวลาใหตรงกัน ระดับตอไปเร่ืองหลักสูตรการศึกษาใหสอดคลอง ภาครัฐควรมีนโยบายใหมีการล้ิงคกับสวนของ AEC เราจะไปทางไหน จะเปนกลุมประเทศที่สามารถผลิตสินคาราคาถูกหรือเปลาหรือเปนกลุมประเทศสินคาที่มีการยอมรับทั่วโลก”

THE BENEFITSOF ASEAN…AND SUBCON THAILAND 2013

The launch of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 will not only be an integration milestone but a potential game changer for the region. The increase in intra-regional trade is likely to have a number of positive eff ects.

For fi rms, it will lower costs as items can beimported more cheaply and transportation costs will drop as infrastructure is improved. Economies of scale will also benefi t businesses that can consolidate regional offi ces and production sites for easier market mobility, enabling occupiers to choose the most cost-eff ective locations.

The increased competition in each market will power productivity, which will again drive down costs that can be passed on to consumers. The purchasing power of households will increase as they benefi t from increased competition and enjoy higher incomes and more imported goods and services.

International production networks will play a key role in the AEC. Most industrial production in ASEAN, especially in automotive, auto parts,

computers/computer parts, and electronics and electrical appliances, fi nd entrepreneurs eager to form international production networks. Here production is divided into several stages and then conducted in various countries, according to the comparative advantages. Companies are seeking to reduce the cost of doing business and looking for economies of scale, improved transport infrastructure and a broader labor pool. These tangible benefi ts will help companies decide on a manufacturing or service base.

การเปดประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนในป 2015 จะไมเปนเพียงความรวมมือครั้งสําคัญของประเทศในภูมิภาคอาเซียนนี้เทานั้นแตจะเปนปจจัยสําคัญที่จะเขามาพลิกโฉมการลงทุนและการดําเนินธุรกิจซึ่งจะสงผลดีหลายประการใหการคาภายในภูมิภาคแหงนี้

ผูประกอบการสามารถลดตนทุนไดเนื่องจากสามารถไดรับประโยชนในเรื่องของภาษี ตนทุนคาขนสงก็ลดลงดวยระบบโครงสรางพ้ืนฐานท่ีดีข้ึน บริษัทตางๆที่สามารถรวมสํานักงานและฐานการผลิตในภูมิภาคเขาดวยกันก็จะไดประโยชนจากความคลองตัวในตลาดและความสามารถใน

A FAMILY HISTORY OF GOOD BUSINESS

Thai Sakol Group is an importer of high-quality cutting tools and machinery. They focus on top products and after-sales service which always exceeds customer expectations. The company is a distributor of a broad variety of industrial machinery for a variety of industries. Currently Thai Sakol Group is the distributor for world’s top 3 brand such as Kanefusa from Japan, Vollmer and Reform from Germany and many other quality companies.

Khun Panitan Kobkulsuwan, 2nd generation management and General Manager of Thai Sakol Group started our discussion with the history of his company.

“Thai International Machinery Ltd., Part.” was founded in 1975 and this will be our 38th year in business. My father started the business when he saw opportunities in importing circular saw blades and in particular blades from Japan. We were the fi rst company to import this kind of product for the woodworking industry and we have grown accordingly. All suppliers and makers of plywood boards know the name “Khun Pravit” – which is my father. During this time, we have carved out a market share of around 90 % because of the clear customer focus and sound business strategy created by my father. He would always jump in personally to help solve problems for our customers.”

“The company has grown steadily and expanded to other industries that now include the manu-facturing process and cutting, in fact everything from paper, plastic, rubber, electronic circuit boards and the entire metal working industry. We consider almost all industries in Thailand our targets with the exception of the kitchen appliance business.”

“About 8-9 years ago, we entered the steel industrywhich showed great promise because of demand from the automotive parts business, metal indus-try, and the use of aluminum for windows, doors, pipes and the construction industry in general. It was good timing because the wood working industry was fl at. This led us to focus on steel primarily and most of the products we bring to market today are from the top three brands in the world.”

“From the beginning the policy of my father was that we would work together, and strive to become the sole agent in Thailand. Thus if you want to purchase Kanefusa products you can only do so through us. Kanefusa is one of the fi rst brands we worked with and we have been together for about 35 years now. They are pleased with us because we are able to control the market. Kanefusa is a big company and they continue to develop and come out with new products. When our customers have a problem, they know they can count on us to come up with new technologies to help meet their needs.”

“In addition to cutting tool like Kanefusa, we now are represent “Everising” Band saw. This technology provides speedy and effi cient cutting that helps operators reduce costs. It is able to cut 3 times faster than conventional band saws. For example, a job that would normally take one hour can be accomplished in just 20 min-utes. We will bring these machines to exhibit at INTERMACH next year.”

“Because of the current market situation it is diffi cult to look long-term, we have to consider things a quarter at a time. Regarding the current Thai economy, metal parts are still playing an important role and from now until the end of the year look to be stable. A positive factor is foreign investment, especially from Japan. This is taking place because of benefi ts from the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) which encourages investment in our country. I also

think there will be more Thai products such as industrial parts from support industries being sent to SMEs from Japanese companies in Thailand and abroad. Finally, purchasing power in the market should not be reduced because of these foreign investments,” said Khun Panitan in concluding his view of the market situation today.

คุณปณิธาน กลาวตอวา “แตเมื่อประมาณ 8-9 ปที่แลวเราเริ่มเขามาในกลุมอุตสาหกรรมเหล็กเนื่องจากแนวโนมซ่ึงมีการใชท่ีเพ่ิมมาก ไมวาจะเปนกลุมช้ินสวนยานยนต โรงจําหนายเหล็กพวกทําอลูมิเนียมรวมไปถึงงานประตูหนาตางที่ ใชอลูมิ เ นียม อุตสาหกรรมการกอสรางและพวกทอ โดยถือวาเปนการเขามาในจังหวะที่ดี เพราะวาอุตสาหกรรมไมก็เริ่มแยลงมาก ทําใหเรามุงความสนใจไปที่กลุมอุตสาหกรรมโลหะเปนหลัก โดยสินคาที่เรานําเขามาทําการตลาดสวนใหญก็จะตองเปนสินคาท่ีดีท่ีสุดหน่ึงในสามอันดับแรกของโลก และเปนนโยบายของคุณพอตั้งแตแรกวาเราจะทํางานรวมกันก็ตองใหเราเปนตัวแทนขายแตเพียงผูเดียวในไทยเทาน้ันเพราะฉะนั้นในตลาดถาคุณตองการที่จะหา “Kanefusa” ก็สามารถหาไดท่ีไทยสากลท่ีเดียวเทาน้ัน Kanefusa เปนแบรนดแรกๆ ที่เราทํางานรวมกันมานานถึง 35 ป ซ่ึงเขาก็พอใจเพราะวาทําใหสามารถ

ควบคุมตลาดไดงาย ท่ีสําคัญบริษัทใหญๆ อยางน้ีจะมีการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑตลอดเวลาพอลูกคามีปญหาเราก็จะมีเทคโนโลยีใหมๆ เขามาชวยตอบโจทยใหลูกคาไดตลอดเวลา นอกจากสินคาในกลุมใบเลื่อย (Cutting Tools) แลวเรายังมีสินคาในกลุมเครื่องจักร (Cutting Machine) โดยปนี้เรามี “Everising” เปนเครื่องเลื่อยสายพานที่สามารถตัดงานไดอยางรวดเร็วสามารถชวยผูประกอบการในการลดตนทุนไดเปนอยางดี โดยคุณสมบัติที่สามารถตัดไดเร็วกวา conventional band saw 3 เทา สมมติวาใชเครื่องธรรมดาตัดได 1 ชม. เครื่องนี้สามารถใชเวลาตัดไดแค 20 นาทีเทานั้นเอง โดยเราจะนําเคร่ืองน้ีเขารวมแสดงในงานอินเตอรแมคปหนาอีกดวย”

“ตลาดตอนน้ีไมสามารถมองระยะยาวไดเลย คงตองมองเปนไตรมาสมากกวา ในมุมมองของผม ผมคิดวาเศรษฐกิจไทยตอนนี้ ในสวนของกลุมชิ้นสวนโลหะชิ้นสวนก็จะยังเปนสวนสําคัญ โดยจนถึงสิ้นปนาจะทรงตัว ปจจัยเชิงบวกตอนนี้เปนเรื่องของการลงทุนของประเทศ โดยเฉพาะการลงทุนจากญี่ปุน โดยสิทธิประโยชนที่ทางบีโอไอใหคอนขางเชิญชวนผูที่ตองการเขามาลงทุนในประเทศเรา ผมยังคิดวาตอนน้ีเปนการสงสินคาหรือชิ้นสวนของอุตสาหกรรมสนับสนุนของคนไทยไปใหเอสเอ็มอีญี่ปุนทั้งในและตางประเทศจะเพ่ิมมากขึ้น สุดทายกําลังซื้อในตลาดอาจจะไมไดลดลงมากเพราะวามีการลงทุนจากตางชาติเขามาเสริม” คุณปณิธานกลาวทิ้งทายเกี่ยวกับมุมมองของตลาดในปจจุบัน

The North Association of Machinery and Metal

Parts (MIC-T) recently organized an important

seminar linking buyers and par-makers at the

Saha Patthana Group Industrial Park, Amphur

Muang, Lamphun. The man behind this success

is Khun Yutthana Chaisri, Managing Director,

Standard Units Supply (Thailand) and President

of the North Association of Machinery and Metal

Parts.

Khun Yutthana said; “The board meeting was

held for the fi rst time and our club was formed

because of intense competition and drastically

rising production costs. We are comprised of

a group of companies in the same industry

and form a network of associated industries in

order to give us a competitive edge. Our club will meet annually and currently we have more than 50 members. That number is expected to increasing steadily as the number of factories in Lamphun now has more than 1,000 plants.”

“The strength of our group comes from com-panies that can export outside the region. For those companies who do business only within the region it might prove diffi cult if they don’t

change the way they do business. Other problems include diffi culties for SMEs to access funding and how to manage companies and employees.

We believe the government should help with

these problems.

NEW BOI REGIONALDIRECTOR LOOKS NORTH

The Regional Investment and Economic Center 1,

Offi ce of the Board of Investment, is considered

one of the agencies that have played a critical role

in supporting investors and linking them to small

entrepreneurs. Khun Sakchai Luangsathitkul, the

newly promoted Director, reviewed an important

manufacturing trend in the Northern Region.

Khun Sakchai started by sharing some of his experi-

ence at the BOI Taipei, Taiwan. “Large investors like

Apple and Foxcon employ millions of workers but

are also facing problems of staff shortage. There is

serious shortage of labor in Taiwan’s manufacturing

industry, especially in areas of the Aerospace industry such as lighting and electronic devices for aircraft.

Some of the orders are from the United States who wants Taiwan to be able to fully equip and protect

itself from China. In Thailand many investors and entrepreneurs would like to come and invest in

here, but the main problem is Thai entrepreneurs

cannot communicate in English.”

Khun Sakchai added, “People think the cost of living in Taiwan is expensive, but it is actually cheaper

than the cost of living in Thailand. If I have 20-30

Baht I can travel a long distance by underground train in Taiwan. I was stationed there for 3-4 years

and the total accumulated defi cit for their high-

speed rail was approximately 80,000 million baht.

The Taiwanese thought it was a small issue as it

could be fully utilized. The government continues to build underground rail systems near hospitals,

schools and important landmarks. People do not

need to use a car. They can use the subway to

get around. Unless things change Changmai in 5

years time, will be facing the same problems as

Bangkok. This is because building and infrastructure

continues to grow and without a plan for a good

transportation system, Changmai will be a diffi cult

place to live.”

"The future trend of entrepreneurs in the Northern

Region will be towards large enterprise and more

multinational companies will invest here. In terms of

production, companies might manufacture or import

ไดรับออเดอรมาจากอเมริกา ซ่ึงอเมริกาตองดูแลไตหวัน

โดยจริงๆแลวผูประกอบการไตหวันชอบเมืองไทยและ

แตถาไปอยูจริงๆแลวคาครองชีพถูกกวาเมืองไทยอีก

ผมสามารถบอกไดเลย เพราะวาถาผมมี 20-30 บาท

สามารถเดินทางโดยใชรถไฟฟาใตดินไปไกลๆ ไดจาก

ตนทางไปถึงปลายทางได รถไฟความเร็วสูงตอนที่ผม

ไปอยู 3-4 ป ยอดขาดทุนสะสมประมาณ 80,000 กวาลานบาท เขาคิดวาเปนเรื่องเล็กเพราะสามารถไดใชประโยชนอยางเต็มท่ี และเขาสรางรถไฟฟาใตดินไปเร่ือย

ตรงไหนที่ใกลโรงพยาบาลโรงเรียนและสถานที่สําคัญ คือไมวาจะเดินทางไปไหน ไมจําเปนตองใชรถ สามารถนั่งรถไฟฟาใตดินไปถึงไดหมด โดยหันกลับมามองที่

MYANMAR - a tropical jewellies waiting

Today the general international belief is that Myanmar presents a great opportunity for invest-ment and growth. Rich in natural resources and with a youthful population of 60 million, the country is ripe for investment and is already experiencing it. Foreign investment in the newly liberated country has now reached more than $42 billion from 32 countries. And In June 2013 alone, the up-and-coming hotspot received $423 million in foreign investment.

Now international fi rms are pouring money into Myanmar with the intention to stay and enjoy the fruits of their investment. Both product manu-facturing and hotel accommodation represent fast-growing industries in the country, according to the Myanmar Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration (DICA). A key sector such as manufacturing could generate 6 million jobs and eventually account for a third of the economy. The ongoing quest for low cost pro-duction has drawn manufacturers’ attention to Myanmar which has been out of the sourcing network for nearly a decade.

Economists estimate that by 2030 Asia’s GDP will have reached US$32 trillion, accounting for 43% of global consumption. If Myanmar achieves its expansion rate of 7% to 8% each year it will become a middle income nation and will have tripled per capital income within the

same time frame. The country’s appeal as a future market for consumer spending will con-tinue to grow. However, as with all opportuni-ties and investment, there are challenges; lack of equipment suppliers and machinery are a current reality. There will be huge potential demands for new machinery, but there has been no impetus for major equipment suppliers to establish tech-nical support offi ces in Myanmar at this point. This, however, is another waiting opportunity for machinery makers and distributors of machine tools, metal working machines, logistic & trans-portation equipment along with welding equip-ment & accessories to step in.

บริษัทตางชาติจํานวนมากท่ีเขาลงทุนในพมาตางมองถึงการดําเนินธุรกิจในระยะยาว โดยอุตสาหกรรมท่ีเติบโตอยางรวดเร็วตามขอมูลของคณะกรรมการการลงทุนและการบริหารจัดการของพมาหรือDICA ไดแก อุตสาหกรรมการผลิตและอุตสาหกรรมโรงแรม โดยมีภาคสวนสําคัญอยางเชนภาคอุตสาห-

กรรมการผลิตโดยสามารถสรางงานไดถึง 6 ลานตาํแหนงและมขีนาดใหญหนึง่ในสามของเศรษฐกจิโดยรวม โดยหลังจากประเทศมกีารเปดมากขึ้นในชวงเวลาท่ีผานมานักลงทุนตางชาติที่มองหาแหลงการผลิตที่มีตนทุนต่ําจึงเริ่มหันไปมองพมากันมาก

นักเศรษฐศาสตรประเมินวาจีดีพีของเอเชียในป 2030 จะพุงสูงถึง 32 ลานลานดอลลารสหรัฐหรือคิดเปน 43% ของการบริโภคของโลก โดยหากพมาสามารถเติบโตที่อัตรา 7-8% ตอปก็จะกลายเปนประเทศรายไดระดับกลางโดยมีรายไดตอหัวเพ่ิมขึ้นสามเทาในชวงเวลาเดียวกัน กลาวคือวาความนาสนใจของพมาในฐานะตลาดผูบริโภคในอนาคตจะเพ่ิมขึ้นอยางตอเนื่องนั่นเอง อยางไรก็ดี สิ่งท่ีเห็นไดชัดในเวลานี้เลยก็คือการขาดแคลนผูขายและจัดหาอุปกรณและเครื่องจักร โดยพมามีความตองการเครื่องจักรใหมๆมากกวานี้เปนอยางมาก นี่อาจเปนโอกาสสําคัญสําหรับผูผลิตเครื่องจักรและผูจัดจําหนายเคร่ืองมือตางๆ เคร่ืองจักร เคร่ืองมือสําหรับงานโลจิสติกสและการขนสงตลอดจนเครื่องเชื่อมและอุปกรณตางๆ
