Overview Kern Medical will leverage VMware Horizon for remote access to on-premise network resources. It provides remote access via desktop web browser or client application for several type of systems including computers, tablets, and phones.

Enrollment Users will need to granted access to the system. The access can be requested via the IT Service Desk. (661) 326-2416.

HTML Access Clicking on the HTML Access link will present the user with a logon screen. Enter your Kern Medical username (short version) and password.

The Desktops and Applications that have been provisioned for the user will be displayed. Clicking on the square of the desktop or application will launch the selection.

VMware Horizon Help

There is a flyout tab available after launching the desktop or application. From this flyout, the user can logoff or change desktops/applications without leaving the Horizon system as well as changing settings.

Client Application Users can download and install the Horizon client specific to their device. The client is available for several devices including computers (Windows, Mac, Linux), phones/tablets (iOS, Android) and Chrome devices. The link for downloading clients is here: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_horizon_clients/5_0 Once installed, add the Kern Medical server. Click on the + and enter mykernmedical.com

Click on Connect to connect to the system. Once connected, the Desktops and Applications that have been provisioned for the user will be displayed. Double click on the square to launch the selection.

VMware Horizon Help

Clicking on the Gear on the top right of the window will display options available for the desktops and applications. You can choose to use all monitors or a single monitor. You can also choose to automatically connect to a desktop at logon.

When you are done with an application, click on the X at the right-top of the window to close the application. When you are done with a desktop, click on Options on the top bar. Choose Disconnect and Log Off to close the desktop.
