HETC imparts quality technical education that enables the students to grow as successful professionals in their future life.Eminent academician Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bandopadhyay, former Vice Chancellor of WBUT (MAKAUT) and Professor of Calcutta University is one of the prime architects of HETC. Prof. (Dr.) Sankar Prasad Mukherjee, Emeritus Professor and Chairman, IQAC is inextricably associated with the academic excellence of HETC. Prof. Mukherjee, an alumnus of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, is also the Secretary of HETCS.Prof. (Dr.) Sumanta Bhattacharyya, an alumnus of IIT Delhi and the Principal of HETC, leads a team of qualified and energetic faculty members and technical assistants as per the AICTE guidelines.

COMPREHENSIVEACADEMIC SYSTEMThe Comprehensive Academic System to maintain the quality and standard of the college is furnished below:The college has an Internal Quality Assurance Cell known as IQAC to fulfill the goal of quality enhancement and sustenance. IQAC has been envisaged to operate as an internal organ of the institution which works for the qualitative improvement in all activities of the institution.
Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, IQAC is functioning as a part of the institution and works towards realization to achieve the mission and vision of the institute. It is working to fulfill the goal of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime objective of it is to develop a system of conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of the institution. For quest in excellence, it is functioning in association with all the stakeholders and society at large.
PROGRAM ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE (PAC): Monitoring the achievements of Program Outcomes (POs), Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) and Program Educational
Objectives (PEOs); Evaluating program effectiveness and proposing necessary changes; Preparing periodic reports on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management key stake holders. Motivating the faculty and students towards attending workshops, developing projects, working models, paper publications and engaging in research activities; Interacting with students, faculty, Course coordinators in facilitating Program Educational Objectives (PEOs); Mentoring the students in small groups.For continuous academic evaluation, Institute Examination Cell (comprising the Officer-in-Charge, Supervisor and Administrative staff members) works tirelessly throughout the year.
It organizes and ensures the smooth conduction of all internal examinations as well as University examinations in accordance with the rules and regulations laid down by the affiliating University. The Examination Cell is also entrusted with the responsibility of collecting and analyzing the semester wise internal and university examination results of the students for taking necessary steps towards improvement of the student’s performances.

and monitoring the progress of the program; Developing and recommending new or revised program goals and objectives.

RAGGING FREE CAMPUSAnti-ragging measurements are controlled by two separate bodies namely
Anti-Ragging Disciplinary Committee and Anti-Ragging Team. Anti-Ragging Disciplinary Committee is formed of representatives from Civil Administration, Local
NGO, Guardians, Faculty and Administrative staff members. Anti-Ragging Moving Team is formed of the members of faculty, technical assistants and staff members. Students are also included in the committee. Meetings are held frequently to review

AUDITORIUMThere are two State - of - the - Art air conditioned auditoriums to hold several kinds of activities throughout the year. Both the auditoriums are

tech fest, etc. The auditorium in the ground floor can accommodate up to 300 people comfortably and it is
also used as a smart class room in case of special trainings conducted by the training and placement cell. The newly built
spacious auditorium with gallery system has a fixed stage and can accommodate up to thousands of audience comfortably.

It is a two day long state level technical fest for students across the state. The primary
objective of the tech fest- TecHetc is to help the students imbibe technical innovativeness and to provide them with an opportunity
to demonstrate their engineering skills, knowledge and interests. The two-day event turns out be extremely
interesting and also provides a learning platform for all the students, giving them a practical experience of
teamwork and organizational skills.

COLLEGE LIBRARYThe Library of an education institution is regarded
as the ‘Nerve Centre of Knowledge’, the centre of intellectual life and the heart and soul of
the academic activities. The discoveries and developments are actually made in the Library and subsequently tested in the Laboratory. It helps the professionals of engineering education in updating
their ability and knowledge to give information about new outlook, concept and study of new
inventions in engineering education.Our college library is fully automated and
air-conditioned with a spacious reading room. Apart from the Central Library, the college has Departmental Libraries as well. The library has more than 2000 titled books and 38,000 book
volumes. Digital Library facility has been installed in the library and it will be put into operation
shortly.
JOURNALGood numbers of Technical Journals are being provided in our library for constant updating of the latest developments in the field of science and technology. In addition, it has popular magazines, selected e-books, e-journals and online databases in Engineering & Technology, Humanities, Social Science and Management. Several popular magazines are also procured for Competitive examinations.Library also subscribes some daily Newspapers. Students may access IEEE journals through the library more over, library has already started OPAC service to users through internet.

LANGUAGE LABIn order to prepare students to face the corporate world, HETC has built a State-of-the-Art language lab. This language-cum-personality development lab enhances the soft skill needed to excel. The students are well groomed to face actual interviews and group discussions with confidence. They learn the techniques used for proper communication to emerge as effective leaders. This lab has been designed and set up by Centre of Advance Communication, STEP, IIT, Kharagpur and is comparable to the ones in IIEST, Shibpur.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS AND GRANTS RECEIVEDDr. Abir Bandyopadhyay is conducting a three year research project titled “Studying the properties of optical vortices formed in quantized radiation field.” The project is being funded by the Department of Science and Techonology, Government of India. He received funds worth around 12 Lac INR for carrying out the project that covers cost of basic equipments, facilities and manpower. He is the PhD advisor of Anindya Banerji, JRF, who is working under him in this project.The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Hooghly Engineering & Technology College had received a grant of Rs. 14.5 Lakhs from AICTE under MODROBS. The Antenna Laboratory had been modernized with this grant and successful installation of equipment concerning Microstrip Antenna had been done to strengthen research activities in the said domain.
ADMISSIONPROCEDURE FOR 1ST YEARIn all courses 90% students of approved intake capacity will be admitted on thebasis of merit position secured by the candidate in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. The balance 10% students will be admitted from JEE(Main) as per norms stipulated by the AICTE and the State Government.
LATERAL ENTRYDiploma Holders in any Engineering/Technical Discipline can enter for a Degree Course in the 2nd year at HETC, through an admission Test JELET conducted by Central Selection Committee (CSC).
