Obituary
On December 27, 1939, a beautiful baby girl was born to Geneva
Ward Edwards and Meshach Edwards in Brazoria Texas whom they
named Myrtle Mae.
She enjoyed her early life with many relatives and friends in Oakland
Community. She was a domestic housekeeper in the Brazosport area
for over forty years. She was an avid student of the Word of God and
an active member of the West Side Church of Christ until her
death. She participated in many ladies’ bible studies and she
supported church functions with her delicious cooking. She is
remembered for making her cornbread dressing and delicious tea-
cakes. She also enjoyed traveling with family (mom never met a
stranger), cross-stitch, working puzzles and holiday cooking festivities,
often teaching four generations of her girls.
Myrtle married Jack Austin Jr. on June 6, 1959, in Angleton, Texas and
enjoyed sixty plus years of marriage. To this union, four children were
born, three daughters; Lenora Barber (Carlton), of Richwood, TX,
Delores Parson of Bay City, TX and Sharon Jenkins of Lewisville, TX
and one son, Jack Austin, III (Vanessa), of Iowa Colony,TX.
Myrtle passed away Friday, November 29, 2019 at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Meshach and Geneva
Edwards, six brothers, three sisters and one great-great grandson.
Myrtle will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.

A Tribute To Mom Order of Service
You make the sunshine on a cloudy day
When I’m sick you kiss the pain away
Your tender voice took away my fears
Your hand that wiped away my tears
The love you give so honest and pure
Keeping me forever safe and secure
You make the flowers bloom in the spring
It was you who fixed my broken wing
Mom, because of you I know love
My guardian angel from above
