Thank You SHANDS for the lunch!

Recipients of the 2006 Research Grant Awards A retrospective study of clinical outcomes of hyperglycemia management with intravenous infusions in cardiothoracic surgical patients will be conducted by Dr. Diane LaRochelle and Jean Kilts. This research has the potential to provide the data needed to improve clinical practice and outcomes for cardiothoracic surgical patients. Dr. LaRochelle is a senior consultant for clinical nursing research at Baptist Health and is certified in holistic nursing.

We congratulate them on their commitment to evidence-based nursing practice and edu-cation and their desire to improve the outcomes of clients in our community!

Michelle Edmonds’ research is Assessing transcultural self-efficacy of BSN students who study abroad. Her study will describe how cultural immersion experiences can facilitate the development of cultural competence in nursing students and subsequently enhance cultural sensitivity of nurses to clients from across the globe. Ms. Edmonds is a nursing professor at Jacksonville University.

We have received the 2005-2007 Chapter By-Laws from Sigma Theta Tau International and these will need to be voted on by the membership. This will occur at the Annual Meeting in conjunction with the Summer Induction on June 27. The Lambda Rho at-Large Board of Directors approved these By-laws at their meeting May 25, 2006. Chapter fees are specified in the Chapter By-Laws. Lambda Rho fees have not changed in past 10 years. The Board voted to recommend an increase in fees such that the annual Chapter dues will be $30.00 per year, an increase of $5.00 annually. The induction fee (a one-time fee to levied on new inductees to cover costs associated with induction) will be $20 (an increase of $10.00). New inductees will pay $50.00 in chapter fees at the time of induction which covers the Induction fee and the first year of chapter membership. These fees are in addition to the International membership fee, currently $60.00. Please Visit: http://www.unf.edu/groups/lambdarho-sst/ To download and review old and new by-laws prior to our Annual Meeting.
