The Harrison County Middle School 7th and 8th grade Advance Band under the direction of Julie Lucky performed at the Kentucky Music Educators 7th District Band Assessment Tuesday, March 13. They performed Childhood Hymn by David Holsinger and Willow Creek Festival by Steve Hodges on the stage of the University of Kentucky Singletary Center for the Arts. The ensemble was assessed on criteria set forth by KMEA from the Fine Arts National Standards. They received the highest rating of Distinguished from each of the three adjudicators.

scholarshiP. John Taylor Grayson, 11 year old son of Matt and Sandra Grayson of Lexington, was presented a scholarship by the University of Kentucky for math and science. Grayson attends Julius Marks School in Lexington and is in the fifth grade. He was in an academ-ic challenge at Bryan Station High School for grades second through fifth. He won his award in a writing competition. Taylor is the grand-son of John and Phyllis Grayson of Cynthiana.
