HonorHealth Research InstituteThe essence of medical research at HonorHealth Research Institute is this: Innovative treatments, pharmaceuticals or medical devices that hold the promise of better treatment for diseases are not just evaluated here, they're developed here as well.

HonorHealth has attracted some of the most distinguished physicians and researchers in the nation, and their discoveries are giving patients with cancer, heart disease and obesity-related medical conditions new hope for a better quality of life.

The team at HonorHealth Research Institute focuses on: Translating medical innovations into solutions: Patients have the opportunity

to participate in clinical trial research so that medical professionals can better understand the causes and best clinical treatments for many diseases and disorders. The institute's research teams are committed to accelerating breakthrough therapies for treating devastating and debilitating disorders. Some of these conditions often have had limited solutions, but that's changing — more quickly than you might think.

Practicing precision medicine: Working closely with their research partner, the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), the HonorHealth Research Institute has developed a precision medicine approach for cancer patients. They can receive personalized therapeutic options as the research clinician monitors drug treatments and responses to the drugs. THE LOCATION

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

Scottsdale is a city in the eastern part of Maricopa County, Arizona, adjacent to the Greater Phoenix Area, known as “The West’s Most Western Town”.

Scottsdale is commonly defined by its high quality of life, and in 1993 was named the "Most Livable City", in the United States by the United States Conference of Mayors. It is continually ranked as one of the premier golf and resort destinations in the world, with a sizable portion of tax revenue being derived from tourism. It is also home to the Phoenix Open Golf Tournament held at the Tournament Players Club every year and the Barrett-Jackson car show held at WestWorld.

The tourism industry is Scottsdale's primary employer, accounting for 39% of the city's workforce. The city of Scottsdale by itself is home to more than 70 resorts and hotels, boasting over 15,000 hotel rooms. This large hospitality market primarily caters to a higher-end, white-collar demographic.

The city of Scottsdale is third, after New York City and Las Vegas respectively, as having the most AAA Five-Diamond hotels and resorts in the United States. In 2008, AAA bestowed five such properties in Scottsdale with the highest honor: The Phoenician, The Canyon Suites, Scottsdale Camelback Inn, Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, and the Fairmont Princess Resort and Spa. Scottsdale

Page 23: Honor Health Network Director, Bone Marrow Transplant Hematologic Malignancy Program

boasts the highest number of destination spas per capita of any city in the United States.

The region's year-round warm weather and abundant sunshine is a major factor in Scottsdale's tourism appeal. In particular, during the winter, thousands of tourists from the Midwest, the northeast, and as far away as Canada, flood the area with long-term visits (known locally as "snowbirds"). These tourists, who often practice the same migration routine annually, often end up purchasing second homes in the area.

Over the past several years however, Scottsdale's growing abundance of trendy, high-end nightlife, upscale restaurants, art galleries and luxury shopping, has made it a highly popular travel destination for the younger, white-collar, more style-conscious, travel set. The New York Times described downtown Scottsdale as “a desert version of Miami’s South Beach” and as having “plenty of late night partying and a buzzing hotel scene”.

When it comes to unique experiences, Scottsdale has you covered with options that run the gamut from world-class museums and a renowned botanical garden to the nation’s largest wilderness preserve. Amusement parks, an award-winning zoo and a railroad museum appeal to all ages. And if you’re hankering for a taste of the Old West, the state’s largest remake of a 1880s Western town is just minutes away.
