2010 FIFA World Cup

• In 3rd qualifying round, Honduras came in first over Mexico, Jamaica, and Canada

• Honduras has made it to the fourth qualifying round, FIFA Ranking = 39– Top 3 (out of 6) from this round will qualify for the World

Cup!• Up against U.S.A. and Mexico (FIFA ranking 20 and 24

respectively), as well as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago

• In previous qualifying games, Honduras has beaten Mexico once but lost to Costa Rica (FIFA ranking 38)

2010 FIFA World Cup

• Currently sit tied for last with Mexico, but have 9 more games to play, including 5 home games

• Will play El Salvador (FIFA ranking 107) on June 10 in San Pedro Sula (we’ll be there!)

Facts

• Honduras was the first Central American football team to score 2 points in a World Cup tournament

• Honduras is the only Central American football team to defeat and eliminate Brazil in a tournament (Copa América 2001 in quarterfinals)
