Lemon Cleansing Cream1 Tbsp beeswax 15 mL3 Tbsp canola oil 45 mL1 Tbsp witch hazel 15 mL1 Tbsp lemon juice 15 mL1⁄8 tsp borax .5 mL6 drops lemon essential oil 6
In small pan set over low heat, gentlymelt beeswax in the canola oil. Beat for 5minutes until mixture has a creamy,smooth consistency. In a separate non-metallic saucepan, gently warm witchhazel and lemon juice; stir in borax untildissolved and add to canola oil mixture.Beat until smooth. After the cream hascooled, stir in the lemon oil. Spoon intosealable container.
Shaving Cream 1⁄4 cup stearic acid 50 mL2 Tbsp canola oil 25 mL1 cup hot water 250 mL1 tsp borax 5 mL2 Tbsp grated soap (scentless)25 mL
Melt stearic acid and canola oil in doubleboiler until clear liquid forms. In a bowl,mix hot water, borax, and soap and stiruntil the borax and soap are dissolved.Pour the soap solution into a blender andblend well for about 1 minute. Slowlypour the melted canola oil mixture intothe soap solution. Blend on high until asmooth cream forms. Pour into a cleansealable container and allow to cool completely. Before using, wash area to beshaved using warm water; and then applythe shaving cream and shave.
Bath Oil1 cup canola oil 250 mL1 Tbsp vitamin E oil 15 mL1 tsp essential oil 5 mL
Small amount of dried cones, pods, twigs,grasses, vine tendrils, rose hips and petals,statice, nigella, baby's breath, larkspurand/or everlastings. Combine canola oil,vitamin E oil and essential oil. Place smallamounts of dried material in a sealabledecorative container. Pour oil mixture intodecorative bottle. Seal. Use 2 Tbsp (25 mL) per bath.

Creating your own spa products andexperience in your home makes pamper-ing yourself convenient and affordable.The recipes in this brochure can be made
using a variety of products available from most grocery, pharmacy and craft stores.Most recipes include suggestions for scentsusing specific essential oils. However, it iseasy to switch or combine different essen-tial oils to create new pleasure scents.Have fun and experiment!
Canola oil because of its high monounsaturated fatty acid content isnoted for its conditioning qualities. Its lighttexture and scentless nature complementsother spa ingredients, while its naturallyoccurring vitamin E adds to the shelf lifeof the completed recipes. It is not only a healthful food choice but also great forcosmetic purposes!

30-35 drops essential oil 30-35Mix Epsom salts, canola oil, almond oil,and essential or fragrance oil together.Mix prior to using and rub over body.Rinse. As with all salts, do not rub on awound...as it will sting.
Interesting variationUse orange scented oil or a combinationof oils (e.g. combination of patchouli,orange and tangerine) and add one halfto 1 Tbsp (7-15 mL) of dried, crushedorange peel to scrub.
Canola Seed Foot Scrub1⁄2 cup Epsom salts 125 mL1⁄4 cup canola seeds, ground 50 mL2 Tbsp canola oil 25 mL2 Tbsp almond oil 25 mL

3-5 drops rosemary oil 3-5Using a fork, combine canola oil, sand androsemary oil. Massage scrub onto feet,concentrating especially on problem areas.
Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.Store in sealable container.Note: Purchase clean beach sand from a craft store or rinse thoroughly with boiling water before using.

When used withbeeswax, oil and water it makes a very stable emulsion. Castor OilVegetable oil derived from the castorbean. Used in cosmetics as an emollient,it forms a hard film when dry. Citric AcidNatural, odorless and colorless crystalline substance. Plays an importantrole in the stabilization of oils and theiruse in cosmetics. Massage Oil11⁄2 cups canola oil 375 mL
1 Tbsp coconut oil 15 mL1 Tbsp dried rosemary or 15 mL
orange peel or lemon rind 20 drops essential oil 20In a medium bowl, mix canola, coconut,and scented oil together. Add dried ingre-dients and mix gently. Store in a sealable container. To use pour 1 Tbsp (15 mL)onto hands and massage skin.
Massage Cream1⁄3 cup canola oil shortening 75 mL1 Tbsp canola oil 15 mL1⁄2 Tbsp pecan oil* 7.5 mL1⁄2 Tbsp grapeseed oil 7.5 mL5 drops Friar's Basalm 5
10 drops lavender essential oil 1010 drops mandarin essential oil 1010 drops tangerine essential oil 10
5 drops grapefruit essential oil 5Melt approximately half of the shorteningwith the canola, pecan and grapeseed oil ina saucepan set on low heat. Mix until melt-ed and the oils are combined. Removesaucepan from heat and let cool slightly.Add the Friar's Basalm and essential oils.Mix to combine. Place the mixture in thefreezer for 3-4 minutes to cool. Removefrom the freezer and scrape the sides of thecontainer to mix any of the shortening thathas solidified. Using an electric mixer, beatthe cooled mixture until thick and creamy.Add the remaining shortening and continueto beat until the mixture is white and thick.Store the contents in a sealable container.Use within one month.* Pecan oil is often recommended as anemollient in the cosmetic industry. If allergies are a concern, substitute canola oil.
Eye Makeup Remover1 Tbsp castor oil 15 mL1 Tbsp canola oil 15 mL
Blend both ingredients together. Applywith tissue or cottonball to remove make-up around the eyes. Follow with regularface cleansing routine.
Hot Oil Treatment 1⁄2 cup canola oil 125 mL1⁄2 cup boiling water 125 mL
Place canola oil and boiling water into asealable container. Shake well (until oil hasbroken into tiny droplets. Massage intohair. Put a shower cap or plastic bag overyour hair and wrap with a towel. Leavemixture on your hair for 15 to 20 minutes,then shampoo and condition as usual.
Foaming Vanilla Bath 1⁄2 cup liquid hand soap 125 mL1 Tbsp vanilla extract 15 mL1⁄4 cup honey (optional) 50 mL1 cup canola oil 250 mL
In a blender, mix in soap, honey andvanilla extract. With the feeder tube open,drizzle canola oil, creating a creamy bathblend. Pour in attractive container. Use1/4 cup (50 mL) per bath. If mixture separates, shake well before using. Makes enough for 6 to 8 baths.
Bath Bombs 1⁄4 cup baking soda 50 mL2 Tbsp cornstarch 25 mL
11⁄2 Tbsp canola oil 20 mL2 drops food colouring 22 Tbsp citric acid 25 mL1⁄4 tsp essential oil 1 mL
Light mist of waterMold for shaping bombs
Mix the baking soda and cornstarchtogether. Add the canola oil, the dropsof food colouring and the essentialoil. Using a water mister, mist themixture lightly one time. Mix welluntil there are no lumps and the coloris well blended. Add the citric acid. Heapas much of the mixture as possible into amould. Press down very firmly packingthe mixture well. Do not add more mix-ture to the mold after firmly packing it asit will not create a cohesive bath bomb.Let the bath bomb air dry for 1-2 days ona baking rack.
Interesting variationUse Lavender essential oil as well as 1⁄2tsp (2mL) of dried lavender blossoms.Add the lavender blossoms when mixingthe baking soda and cornstarch together.

A colloidal-containing grainthat soothes the skin and can
be very helpful with itchy skinconditions. Often included inmasks because it absorbs oil
from the skin’s surface andlessens redness or irri-
tating acne-prone skin. Stearic Acid
White, waxy, natural acidfound in animal and vegetable fats. Smallflakes are ideal as anemulsifying agent in
creams, lotions, deodorantsand most natural body care.
Stearic acid is best known for the"pearly" and "waxy" feel that it adds to body care products. Witch Hazel Extract from the leaves and bark of theHamamelis virgin plant used as an effective astringent. It cleanses the skinand closes the pores.
Soap Scrub1 scentless bar of soap* 11 vitamin E capsule 11 tsp canola oil 5 mL2 tsp canola seed, ground 10 mL1 Tbsp finely ground oatmeal 15 mL1 Tbsp hot water 15 mL
20 drops essential oil 20soap mold
Grate bar of soap to make approximately1 cup (250 mL) of grated soap. Crush thegrated soap with a spoon in order tomake the pieces smaller. In a food proces-sor or blender, grind oatmeal. Pierce thevitamin E capsule with pin and squeezecontents into the grated soap. Add canola oil, canola seed, and ground oatmeal and
mix well. Add hot water and essential oils- mix thoroughly. The mixture should belumpy and damp - not wet. Line a moldwith plastic wrap; press in approximately1⁄4 cup (50mL) of the mixture, and pressvery firmly. Continue to add more mixtureinto mold in 1⁄4 cup (50 mL) incrementsuntil all of the mixture is pressed into a
whole bar. The more pressure that isapplied, the more condensed the mixtureand, the longer-lasting the soap bar that is created. Remove finished bar from themold and let air dry on a rack for at least1-2 days.
