HOMECOMING 2013:
NEW FIGHT. SAME BITE.
SPIRIT CUP COMPETITION
About the Competition:
The Spirit Cup Competition is for all recognized student organizations and residence halls to show off
their College of Charleston spirit in friendly competition during Homecoming Week. Homecoming
participation gives groups a common goal, builds team unity, promotes school spirit and pride in CofC
and reminds our opponents that College of Charleston is #1, both on and off the court. Our goal is to
have every club, organization, Residence Hall, Fraternity, Sorority, etc., compete in at least one of the
major contests sponsored by the Homecoming Committee.
The Spirit Cup is a perpetual trophy, awarded to the team that has accumulated the most points
throughout the week in the official events and contests. Points will be awarded based on the Spirit
Cup point system (page 4) and all points will be tabulated by the Office of Student Life. The winners
of the Spirit Cup will be announced during half-time of the Men’s Basketball game on Saturday,
February 2, 2013, and the name of their organization will be engraved along the base of the Spirit Cup.
ALL groups participating in the Spirit Cup must make sure they have a representative present at the
Men’s Basketball game on Saturday, February 2, 2013 to receive the Spirit Cup.
To participate, organizations must complete the initial entry form and any additional forms needed for
specific events. All forms must be completed and turned in to Natalie Wallace at Stern Center,
423A by 5pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Competition forms are also available through the
Homecoming website at cofc.edu/Homecoming.
