THE AFRIKAN HIP HOP CARAVAN • The Afrikan Hiphop Caravan is an annual project organized by various Hiphop collec<ves to
allow thousands of young people to experience Hiphop Culture at its’ finest: as an eleva<ng form of expression, a crea<ve and revolu<onary counterforce to all forms of oppression.
• Its vision is to build a strong and united Afrikan Hiphop Movement based upon a cohesive network of Afrikan Hiphop collec<ves with strong <es to like-‐minded organisa<ons worldwide.
THE AFRIKAN HIP HOP CARAVAN • The par<cipa<ng collec<ves, which currently include Soundz of the South (Cape Town, South
Africa), Uhuru Network (Harare, Zimbabwe), Okoa Mtaa Founda<on (Arusha, Tanzania), Asrafo Records (Lome,Togo)and Wasani Mtaani (Nairobi, Kenya), are dedicated to Hiphop’s original vision as the voice of the oppressed and understand it as an acronym standing for ‘Her Infinite Power Helping Oppressed People’.
• In its essence, Hiphop is understood as a counterculture that has poten<al to educate, to build revolu<onary consciousness, and to challenge the ruling class.
OBJECTIVES • Create awareness and excitement about the the African Hip Hop Circuit/E-‐Summit 2014
whereby the Bri<sh Council will be hos<ng several of the events at BC premises as per the schedule below:
1. 27 November Afrikan Hiphop Conference / Workshops – Bri<sh Council, Nairobi 2. 28 November Afrikan Hiphop Symposium and E-‐Summit – Bri<sh Council, Nairobi 3. 29 November Afrikan Hiphop Slam Concert – Bri<sh Council, Nairobi
MECHANICS • The ac<va<ons will take place on Homeboyz Radio as follows 1. Daily promos 2. Presenter men<ons 3. Feature ac<va<ons 4. Studio interviews • The en<re campaign will be supported by our Social Media team who will post daily
reminders to our thousands of followers to make plans to acend the African Hip Hop Circuit/E-‐Summit 2014
DAILY PROMOS • We will record cool, hip hop themed promos to run all across the day during the dura<on of
the campaign • The 45 second promos will be produced by our specialist hip hop Deejay, DJ Zack who is well
respected in the hip hop community • The promos will have informa<on on what the Afrikan Hip Hop Caravan is and when it is
taking place • Apart from the addic<ve, head nodding hip hop beats on the promo, the promo will include
legendary hip hop punch lines from socially conscious hip-‐hop rappers
PRESENTER MENTIONS • These will take place on Nairobis number one hip hop show, The Jump Off hosted by Corine • The show takes place every evening from 7pm-‐10pm and is famous for its unapologe<c hip
hop sound • Corine will break down all the details about the series of events taking place. Informa<on

• Hip Hop Slam-‐ the aim of the slam is to offer a plahorm to cultural ac<vists to speak about relevant issues affec<ng their communi<es
• Hip Hop Conference-‐ the aim of the conference is to offer a unique space to scholars, ar<sts and ac<vists to debate the state of African hip hop by exploring a whole range of topics, including hip hops relevance to youth empowerment, iden<ty and poli<cal emancipa<on
MIC CHECK • The game is changing. Now more than ever people are demanding more lyricism and content
in their music. Just take a look at the list of MCs deemed the future of rap music, names like Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica, J. Cole and Big K.R.I.T are always at the top. The one thing they have is common is they all possess a level of consciousness that’s been missing on major labels for far too long.
• Mic Check will be a feature where the presenter plays 3 songs by a new breed of rappers making cerebral, conscious hip-‐hop cool.
• The feature will be dedicated to socially conscious rappers from Kenya, Africa and abroad • The feature will act as a teaser to the series of events lined up during the Afrikan Hiphop
Caravan at the Bri<sh Council • Corine will ask ques<ons related to the songs played on Mic Check to give listeners a chance
to win <ckets to the events as well as Afrikan Hip Hop Caravan T-‐shirts
STUDIO INTERVIEWS • We will host ar<sts, speakers and any special guest who will be taking part in the African Hip
Hop Circuit/E-‐Summit 2014 • The guests will be hosted once on The Jump Off evening show with Corine and once on the
breakfast show with G Money • The guests will talk about what hip hop fans can expect at the African Hip Hop Circuit/E-‐
Summit 2014 and also answer any ques<ons from listeners sent in via social media
