Believed to have been constructed circa 1760, Home Close is one of the signature homes in his popular Northamptonshire village and has been thoroughly renovated from top to bottom with ‘no stone left unturned’ to create a simply stunning family home. The current owner purchased the house from Fine & Country in 2013 and set about restoring the home, with a contemporary look but a sympathetic nod to its 18th Century origins. The house has been rewired, replumbed, a new roof and frankly the list goes on, to create a house that has been future proofed for a generation. The house occupies a plot of just under 0.4 of an acre and has been constructed with local ironstone underneath a tiled roof and a barn that was converted recently to create a large master bedroom which is under a recently thatched roof. The main house has five beautifully appointed bedrooms and there are a variety of bathrooms to compliment the accommodation whilst to the exterior there is an extremely useful and financially beneficial annexe, currently the owner rents this out via Air B&B for a considerable sum, here is the link to the website: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/32544322 and we understand bookings are regularly undertaken during the course of the year, nevertheless it could also provide a fantastic work from home opportunity or make the perfect home for an independent relative The quality of both buildings can only be appreciated with internal viewings. There is a spectacular hand-built kitchen and an array of reception rooms including a study, large sitting room, large laundry room, cloakroom and beautiful bifold doors off the kitchen leading into the garden. Externally there is the annexe, a variety of two oak framed buildings; one is used as a garden room and storage, the property is served by oil fired central heating and ample off-road parking.

Ground FloorThe traditional entrance hall has an attractive and rustic flagstone floor which is original to the building, there is cupboard space housing the electrical consumer unit, some exposed timbers and a latched door that leads to one of the three staircases in the main house and further doors lead off to an understairs storage cupboard and a ground floor shower room which has been beautifully fitted with wash basin, low level WC, a limestone tiled shower cubicle, a heated towel rail and original flagstone floor. The snug is situated at the front of the house with a window overlooking the frontage and a further window to the side aspect overlooking the village green. There is an original corner cabinet, fireplace with tiled surround and raised hearth, exposed ceiling timber and high-quality oak floor. Just off the hallway is another attractive sitting room with window to both sides and an inglenook fireplace with contemporary style Jotul log burner and limestone hearth. From here, there are doors leading off to the inner lobby and large drawing room which has beautiful views of both the front and rear of the property, impressive ceiling timbers, an old inglenook fireplace at one end with a niche window and at the other a further fireplace with timber mantle, raised hearth and contemporary Jotul log burner. The windows to the front have bespoke shutters and there is a further latched door that provides access to the first floor via a staircase. A stunning centre piece to the house is the stunning deVOL kitchen which has been lovingly constructed with a variety of bespoke hand-built units and has a large breakfast area, English limestone floor, windows that overlook the courtyard and side aspects. There are a variety of exposed ceiling timbers and the inner lobby, just prior to the kitchen, has a third staircase and understairs storage cupboard as well as an English limestone floor and door to the side aspect.

Seller Insight Beautifully positioned right in the heart of the popular village of Crick is Home Close, a large and immaculately presented period home that has been stylishly updated and remodelled by the current owners.

“Before buying this house six years ago, my family and I were living only a few doors away,” says the owner. “We found ourselves needing more space, but we were really keen to stay in the village because it’s such a fabulous place to live. It’s a very sociable place with lots going on and it’s also got a fantastic little school so it’s a great place to raise a family. So when this much larger property that sits right in the middle of the village came up for sale, we jumped at the chance to buy it.”

“The house originally dates back to c1760, but over time it has been sympathetically enlarged and in the past few years we have done a complete renovation; we’ve actually just added the finishing touches, so it’s essentially a brand new home encased within this beautiful period shell. We took down walls to create a very large family kitchen and added stylish new units complete with all mod cons, the bathrooms were refitted with top-of-the-range sanitary ware, we’ve created a very luxurious master suite, the whole house was rewired… In short, everything has been done and no expense has been spared. It’s now a beautiful home that’s spacious, light and bright and it’s been redesigned with modern family life very much in mind.”

“The house also benefits from having a really good-size family-friendly garden, which again we’re in the process of putting the finishing touches on,” continues Stuart. “We have the courtyard and a couple of patios where we can sit out, relax and entertain, and then the rest of the space is mainly laid to lawn and surrounded by a border of shrubs and trees and a beautiful Northants stone wall that’s been totally rebuilt. It’s a very peaceful space and totally private, and because we have keypad controlled electric gates at the front of the property, it’s totally safe and secure.”

“The large kitchen/diner is probably my favourite part of the house,” says Stuart. “It’s a lovely big sociable space and it has bi-folding doors that open out onto the garden, so when the sun is shining we can create an almost seamless connection between inside and out.”

“Crick is a fantastic little village with a very friendly and vibrant community,” says Stuart. “We have a highly regarded primary school just a short walk from here, three very nice pubs and there are lots of clubs and events held throughout the year. There’s the annual Crick Boat Show, the scarecrow weekend and even a two-day music festival that’s held every year.”

“Just across the courtyard is a very generously proportioned self-contained annex, which has also undergone quite the makeover,” says Stuart. “It has a large kitchen and living room on the ground floor and a master bedroom, sitting room/bedroom two and a bathroom up on the first floor. In the past we’ve used it as a very posh office space, but at the moment it’s proving to be a very profitable holiday let.”

“I’ll miss everything about the house because all the work has been done so beautifully and now it’s a really stunning home,” says Stuart, “but I’ll also miss the village. It’s been a lot of fun living here and it’s been an amazing place to raise my family.”** These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an in-sight into life at the property. The kitchen is fitted with a variety of bespoke units, the centre piece of which is the large electric Aga, there is an attractive silestone worksurface and island unit. The variety of built in appliances include two dishwashers, bespoke housing to accommodate a fridge and freezer and a boiling tap with the luxury of chilled, filtered and sparkling water. There is a twin Belfast sink set beneath the window that overlooks the village green and another feature of this room are the floor to ceiling larder cupboards with marble worksurface. The attention to detail is second to none within this kitchen which is perfect for family living. There are bifold doors that lead out to the rear gardens and a further latched door that leads to an impressive laundry room with attractive brick floor, in turn, there is a large island unit with silestone worksurface, a bank of bespoke units to the right hand side that house the central heating boiler and hot water cylinder and bespoke housing to accommodate American style washing machine and tumble dryer with vents. This has a door to the rear aspect and a door that leads out to the side gardens and attractive exposed ceiling timbers.
