HOMA Farming

Our experiences

When the present “Homa Farm” was obtained in 1988 by the newly-founded “Community for Homa Farming”, the soil had not previously been treated intensely with artificial fertilizers and pesticides.

This tempted some observers to say: ”Nothing can grow here...” Since taking over the farm, we have been running it according to the regulations and specifications of certified organic farming, without the

use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. By practicing a special fire technique, we produce a highly energetic ash. As an organic fertilizer, it exceeds all those used up to now in agriculture.

In the past years, the soil quality has improved successively from year to year. The soil structure is very friable (crumbly), has good water retention, and contains ample essential nutrients. In years of continuing drought we were surprised to notice that even after several weeks without rain the topsoil was still humid several centimeters below the surface. This caused crops and meadows to appear noticeably fresher and greener – compared to surrounding areas of cultivation - as some astonished visitors to the Homa-Hof reported.Soil depletion, a condition often occuring in organic farming, is not present. Instead, there has been improvement in the soil’s condition. Only the ash from the Homa fires, occasionally stone meal (powder made from particular stones conducive to soil fertility), and natural preparations (such as a stinging nettle solution) are applied to the soil. When possible, organic waste that accumulates is composted. Otherwise, it is brought out onto the fields to decompose. About every three years, a green manuring procedure is carried out.

The vegetables we produce are firm in structure, highly energetic, very tasty, and (as many of our custumers claim) very digestible. At the Homa Farm near Heiligenberg you may tour the fields and purchase our produce. In addition, we offer you the opportunity, Saturdays at the farmer’s market in Uberlingen, to convince yourselves of the quality of our produce. And to ask for further information and make contact with us. Homa farming is a holistic farming practice that can be combined with any organic, sustainable farming method.

Additional Information

Homa farming methods are used to treat the atmosphere, soil and plants; to control and, if need be, treat pests and diseases. Maximum yields from relatively small cultivated areas can be obtained through the Homa methods; the fertility of the soil is also increased, waters purified, and even atmospheric conditions become favorable for growing. Some scientists discovered that Agnihotra (Homa) ash contains 94 elements. According to the special vedic fire technologies, by burning dried cow dung and ghee (Sanskrit for clarified butter) in a special copper pyramid vessel, negatively-charged ions are released. These act like catalysts on plant growth. In the Homa atmosphere plants develop leaf veins that are cylindrical and larger than normal. Water and nutrients can, thereby,

be more easily assimilated by the plants.

In addition, Agnihotra ash increases the amount of water-soluble phosphorus available to plants in the soil. This has a great effect on their growth and reproductive cycles. Consideration of the moon’s phases and rhythms, with which seeds are sown and plantings done, also support the success of Homa farming. The Homa atmosphere is also conducive to the production of chlorophyll, thereby supporting photosynthesis and respiration. This, in turn, promotes proper systems of oxygen cycles in nature. Plants that grow in a Homa atmosphere display a greater array of cell structures. Vegetable and fruit varieties have excellent substance, taste, and color; along with good seed size and seed quality. An important part of the work on the fields is applying the Agnihotra ash into the soil and increasing the availability of soluble nitrogen by cultivating the soil. This not only increases the life-promoting (vital) forces in the soils, but helps stabilize the amounts of potash, nitrogen, and trace elements in it. Earthworms proliferate in this environment, due to increases in their hormonal production; they distribute moisture in the soil and provide it with humus.

Bees are also attracted to the Homa energies; they enable them to fulfill their task of pollinating plants more efficiently. In addition, bees produce a special hormone in the Homa atmosphere which, consumed through the honey, strengthens the immune system in people. All in all, the Homa applications are a practical contribution to environmental protection because they purify the atmosphere and improve the quality of air, water, and soil. The effects of so-called subtle (vital) forces and energies on plants, as well as on humans and animals, could easily be proven if scientists paid attention to them. Scientific research in, and documentation of, Homa farming has been carried out successfully on more than 1000 hectares of testing areas in countries such as Peru, Chile, and Venezuela. Because of the successes of Homa methods, the Peruvian government encouraged farmers in the Alto Huallaga region of the Amazon to begin with Homa farming. Over 200,000 farmers practiced Homa farming with great success in 2003. The produce resulting from Homa farming conforms perfectly to the latest certification standards of the European Union for organic farming i.e. sustainable agriculture, which are the highest in the world.

Impregnations of Seeds and Bulbs Before planting/sowing, seeds and bulbs are treated i.e., impregnated with a mixture of Agnihotra ash and cow urine. It is recommended to prepare a mixture of cow urine and water in a ratio of 50:50, to which up to 4 tablespoons of Agnihotra ash per 5 liters of solution are added and stirred. Seeds and bulbs should soak in this solution for 30-40 minutes. This strengthens the germinating plant and makes it more resistant to pests. Like cow dung, cow urine has antibacterial effects and provides a protective coating around the seeds and bulbs. After this time of treatment, seeds are spread on filter paper, or other absorbent paper, to dry. They should be dry enough to spread, but moist enough so that the core of the seed doesn’t dry

out. Through the impregnation, germination is started-which would be ended if the seeds completely dried out. Bulbs may be planted immediately after being treated with the solution.

Fertilizers In addition, plants can be fertilized with a mixture of Agnihotra ash, stinging nettles, and water. This special liquid fertilizer strengthens plants. The stinging nettles are fermented i.e. decomposed in the water for 7-14 days, depending on weather conditions and the amount of nettles needed. This mixture should then be diluted to a solution with a ratio of 1:9. In other words, 1 part stinging nettle solution is mixed with 9 parts water and filtered with a fine screen (sieve) into a spraying container or watering can.

Plant Nutrient Solution To make an Agnihotra plant nutrient solution, up to 4 tablespoons of Agnihotra ash and up to 4 tablespoons of pulverized, dried cow dung are stirred in approximately 5 liters of water and then applied to plants. This may be repeated every 14 days, depending on how much it is needed. Spray Solution A nutrient solution to be sprayed can be made by mixing up to 4 tablespoons of Agnihotra ash with 5 liters of water. This spray solution is left standing for 3 days and then filtered through a fine screen before it is used to protect plants against pests and diseases. A spray solution can also be made from certain fern blossoms, in which approximately 150 grams of the blossoms, mixed with 2 liters of water and 2 tablespoons of Agnihotra ash, are left standing to ferment for 7-10 days. Filtered through a narrow-meshed screen and then finally distributed on the plants with a sprayer, this helps keep away pests such as snails.

Why HOMA?

To this topic, some thoughts from a discussion with Horst Heigl may be summarized:

Mankind has increasingly trespassed against and damaged nature. The causes are currently known: soils are poisoned with artificial fertilizers, the seas are used as garbage dumps, the Earth's mineral wealth is exploited, huge areas are deforested, the air endlessly contaminated through industry, technology, and traffic, etc.

Today, the effects are well known: a damaged ozone layer, dying forests, extinction of plant and animal species, dangerous climate change; in some countries soils are dead or depleted, upon which hardly anything grows—and not to forget mankind, who becomes more and more prone to diseases, despite the best health care systems.

Nature has begun to defend itself against this extreme exploration and destruction. Earthquakes, floods, storms; all these have considerably increased over time. Nature wants to show us that something is no longer in order.

Even in the Christian holy books, the Bible, this fire is mentioned (see Daniel 8:26) -- “Hold secret this fire in the morning and evening, for it will take a long time to come true” Homa has manifold positive uses and effects. He or she who carries out Homa performs an important contribution to: - the purification of the atmosphere, the soil, and waters - the harmonisation of body, soul, and spirit; for general well-being - the promotion of one's inner spiritual growth - the restoration of ecological balance - strengthening the immune systems of man and animals as well as strengthening the defensive powers of plants - the promotion of healthy plant growth - the reduction of plant diseases and pests - gaining healthier and tastier nutrition which is highly energized and more compatible i.e. digestible In addition: Once upon a time, the gold hidden within the earth made certain that a high energy was radiated over the entire globe. Today, most of the gold has been smelted into bars and locked up in vaults- in the largest banks of the world. Now, the earth is not only missing the gold but, more importantly, also its energy. Through this, nature is also weakened. The ash produced by the Homa fires is a very high energy carrier. This extremely high energy results, above all, from Agnihotra and is conserved in the ash. It is as energy-laden as gold (assuming the energy affinities between gold and Agnihotra ash), if not more so. Through world-wide practice of Homa fires, the actual function of gold can be fulfilled i.e.manifested through the ash.

We should change our thinking. But isn't it already too late for that? Especially when one considers how extremely long it takes until something is actually put into action. Does the Earth still stand a chance? We say “yes” and know why. In the Vedas there are hidden secrets which, with the help of certain actions, unleash powerful forces that calm nature and bring her into a harmonious state. In this way, everything grows and prospers so well—in a manner unknown to this day. These powerful forces unfold in a small, unpretentious fire at sunrise and sunset—it is call Agnihotra. Agnihotra is the fundamental Homa fire.

What is HOMA?

HOMA is the generic term for fire techniques which serve the purpose of purifying the atmosphere. The knowledge about this originates from the Vedas which hold the oldest treasure of knowledge of mankind. The Vedas describe the main thought for the purification of the atmosphere:

"Heal the atmosphere, and the atmosphere will heal you."

Considering present-day environmental pollution the basic HOMA fire technique Agnihotra is able to make a great contribution to the purification of atmosphere and mind. At the Homa-Hof Heiligenberg it turned out to be an extraordinary successful method for organic farming. Agnihotra has been resuscitated by Param Sadguru Shree Gajanan Maharaj(1) for the present times and has been adjusted in a way that it is easy to learn and to perform for everybody (contact). Further fire techniques daily applied at the Homa-Hof Heiligenberg also make a very positive contribution to growth and quality of the cultivated plants and lead to an increase of pleasant energies.

Palampur, Aug.27 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh, a State described by many people as the land of deities, is known for its traditional lifestyle and belief in religious rituals.

To get a good harvest many farmers in Himachal have now adopted its century-old method of ‘Homa’ farming, which is farming with prayers and chanting mantras.

Homa farming is a spiritual practice that dates back to the Vedic period. It involves chanting of Sanskrit mantras at specific time in a day before the holy fire.

The practitioners and propagators of Homa farming, also call it as “revealed science”.

Agriculture University of Himachal Pradesh is experimenting on these techniques for last three years and they have got good results.

” We are very glad to see that wherever Homa farming was done, the plants are growing in a healthier manner and they are giving good produce. In comparison to other plants that are giving low produce due to draught-like situation,” said Y S Paul, Head of the Department, Organic Farming Program.

Homa farming basically energises or awakens the farmland on which it is practiced. The ash that results from the Havana (holy fire ritual) and Puja is used to energize composts, plants, animals, etc.

” One such process is ‘Agnihotra,’ in order to activate certain points in the farmland, we add holy ash in the middle of the farm after recitation of mantras. This kind of farming method is popular in Germany and other countries as well,” said Satish Sharma, Acting Vice Chancellor Cum Research Director, Agriculture University Of Palampur.

Farmers in the region are reaping benefits from this novel and unique farming method.

The method is an age-old phenomenon invented in India and is described in detail in the Rig Veda.

The term Homa is derived from the ancient Hindu practice of performing yajna or Havan by lighting a holy fire and putting ingredients like cow dung, raw rice etc. in it and reciting Vedic mantras along with it.

Homa farming is said to be beneficial for human beings, animals and crops as it is also environment-friendly. (ANI)

HOMA is a Sanskrit word used here synonymously with YAJNYA. YAJNYA is the technical term from the Vedic science of bioenergy denoting the process of removing the toxic conditions of the atmosphere through the agency of fire. This means healing and purifying of the atmosphere with fire as the medium. The central idea in HOMA Therapy is:

It is being conducted to validate the claims made by propounders of the indigenous farming practice

The homa is being conducted according to the "shastras" at the exact time of sunrise and sunset The indigenous agricultural practice is devoid of use of chemicals

that is poured into the "agni kunda."

At sunset too, the mantra propitiating "Agni" (God of Fire) is chanted.

It is not a trip back in time to the Vedic period. And the performer is not an ascetic clad in ochre robes or a priest trained in the Vedas. The "agnihotri" or the performer is none other than a field officer at the Agricultural Research Station in Naganahalli. And the ritual is part of the "homa farming" or "krishi homa" being studied by agricultural scientists.

It is not that the research station employees have been swayed by the mysticism of the Vedas. But the "agnihotra yagna" is conducted in all sincerity to validate the claims made by propounders of "Krishi Homa."

It is being conducted according to the "shastras" at the exact time of sunrise and sunset, the details of which for the entire year have been procured from the Meteorological Department.

"The "agni hotra" ritual has to be tuned to the bio-rhythm of sunrise and sunset and it takes hardly a few minutes," said H.L. Vasanthkumar, senior

farm superintendent of UAS Agricultural Research Station, Naganahalli.

New mission

He told The Hindu that the exercise was part of the new mission entrusted to the research station, which recently went fully organic.

Tests would be conducted to scientifically validate the efficacy of various agricultural practices, including "krishi homa" and bio-dynamic farming. This was the first such research station in the State, if not in the entire country, to do so, he said.

"Krishi homa" is an indigenous agricultural practice devoid of any use of chemicals or synthetics. It is preceded by an "agnihotra" ritual lasting a few minutes.

Many practitioners had attributed immense benefits to the subtle energy resulting from the "yagna" or "homa," Mr. Vasanthkumar said.

"We have no prejudice or preconceived notions about the claims of its efficacy. We will carry out the ritual as prescribed in the texts. It has been in practice in Germany and there are practitioners in the Peruvian range of the Amazon Forests in South America, Mr. Vasanthkumar said.

A thatched hut has been constructed in the form of a pyramid and the floor has been cushioned with dry grass. A few bricks have been aligned in perfect proportion to serve as the "agni kunda."

Dry twigs and dried cow dung are used as fuel to set ablaze the fire pit twice a day. In addition to "krishi homa," the research station will take up biodynamic farming too.

"We will also take up natural farming as propounded by Subhash Palekar and observe the yield," he said.

What Is Agnihotra?

Agnihotra is the basic Homa fire technique, based on the bio-rhythm of sunrise and sunset, and can be found in the ancient sciences of the Vedas. In the Vedas, the central theme in regard to the purification of the atmosphere is described as:

"Heal the Atmosphere and the Atmosphere Will Heal You."

Agnihotra has been simplified and adapted to modern times, so anybody can perform it. During Agnihotra, dried cow dung, ghee (clarified butter) and brown rice are burned in an inverted, pyramid-shaped copper vessel, along with which a special mantra (word-tone combination) is sung.

For Agnihotra, only whole kernels of rice should be used - preferably unpolished or brown whole-grain rice. When rice kernels are broken, their chemical composition may remain the same, but the structure of their subtle energies is disrupted. For this reason, the ancient science of bio-energy says that such rice kernels should not be used for this healing Agnihotra fire. In addition, rice has a balancing, Yin and Yang effect. Many etheric oils are set free (dispersed) through the burning process, and chemical reactions for the healing of the atmosphere are put in action. The mantras sung at sunrise and sunset are in resonance with a bio-rhythm. The sounds sung activate special vibrations which produce a particular healing atmosphere and positively affect the human disposition. Through mantras (1) everything can be activated and positively transformed. Each thing, or phenomenon, has a particular sound / vibration pattern. Sanskrit is considered a perfect language because the pronunciation of any word is identical to its cosmic sound / vibration pattern. The word content is identical to the word tone. When mantras are sung (together with the fire techniques), the vibrations of the mantras are contained in the ash. As a carrier of these vibrations, the ash becomes very effective in its various applications in the fields of medicine, gardening, farming, and forestry. Through burning organic substances in a pyramid-formed copper vessel, valuable purifying and harmonizing energies arise. These are directed into the atmosphere and are also contained in the

remaining ash. This highly energized ash is very successfully employed as organic fertilizer in farming at Homa-Hof Heiligenberg.

For the procedure of the healing Agnihotra fire, a copper pyramid of prescribed form is used. Copper and gold are the only metals that have healing properties, according to knowledge of all ancient traditions. According to the science of Homa therapy, there is only a minimal difference between the healing properties of gold and copper when they are in the pyramid-shaped form in which the Agnihotra fire is performed. The pyramid form and the copper act as a generator of negative ions when the necessary components are burned; these ions have a harmonizing effect on the environment and a positive effect on the well-being of people.

Agnihotra, performed by Shree Vasant V. Paranjpe

The special importance of sunrise and sunset is described in the Vedic scriptures: At sunrise, the many fires, electricities, ethers and more subtle energies emanating from the sun extend all the way to the earth and produce a flooding effect at those coordinates where the sun is said to rise. This flood of life-sustaining energies (prana) enlivens and purifies everything in its path, destroying what is impure in its wake - it causes all life to rejoice. At sunrise it can be heard as music. The morning Agnihotra mantra is the essence of that music. Agnihotra is easy to learn and can be practiced by anybody. It benefits the wellbeing of the environment, the entire earth, and oneself. At the Homa Farm in Heiligenberg you can learn to perform this fire technique free of charge and, if needed, acquire the necessary supplies at favorable prices. You are most welcome to visit us.

About the Meaning of the Mantras (Horst Heigl)

Sunrise:

"Suryaye svaha.“ “Light (beyond the Light), I offer you everything.” In this mantra, the common translation "sun" for Surya is not applicable. Sanskrit words can have a variety of meanings, which an initiate knows to interpret in the proper manner. In this case, Surya means sunlight (symbolic for visible light), though the light beyond the sunlight is revered - in other words, the inexplicable

Sunset:

"Agnaye svaha.“ “Light (beyond the Light), I offer you everything.” Agni relates to the Holy Creative Fire, symbolically however, to the light that is invisible. There is a visible, material and an invisible, subtle fire. Both of them give light. Love corresponds mainly to the subtle fire. Both invisible and visible light are essential components of all Creation.

Cowdung

Cowdung as a remedy For some people it is not always easy to understand why it has to be dried cowdung that is burned during the fire ceremony. In folk medicine, however, the use of cowdung in case of various diseases has not been so unusual – especially when all other methods had failed. Even in the last century it was well known among large parts of the population that in cases of particularly serious and hopeless cases of intestine diseases cow urine and cowdung were given to the patient. In case of tuberculosis (consumption) the patient had to stay either in the cowshed or in a room above it and also sleep there. In cases of serious alcoholic poisoning the patients living in the country were dug up to their necks into a manure heap - with healing success. Further fields of application about the use of cowdung in folk medicine can be studied in “Vergleichende Volksmedizin“ (Comparative folk medicine), second volume, by Dr. Hovoraka and Dr. Kornfeld (Edition Strecker & Schröder, Stuttgart 1909): „In case of diphtheria the patient is given cow urine to drink and he is put in wraps of cow urine and cowdung.“ „Against wheezing and coughing as well as in cases of internal ulcers cowdung is mixed with fresh butter and this mixture, still warm, is put on the chest.“ „In case of colic, furnace of intestine and other illness, and all complaints of abdomen that are accompanied by intense pain, the pressed out juice of cow droppings is given to the patient.“

Cowdung for disinfection The burning of cowdung for disinfection is nothing new, because this procedure is a common custom in the Middle East still today. Even in some countries of Southern Europe the disinfection of rooms by burning cowdung was well known in hospitals. cowdung contains a substance similiar to penicillin which has a disinfecting effect and reduces pathogenic bacteria. All ancient cultures have been using cowdung in order to fight various illnesses, for example the Indians living in Northern and Southern America, people living in Scandinavia, Southern Europe, Asia, Africa – everywhere where today`s medicine has not yet edged out the ancient traditions. In many books about European folk medicine references to cowdung as a means of healing can be found.

Cowdung against Radioactivity Vedic sciptures note a further, very interesting quality of cowdung:

The reduction of radioactive radiation!

After the disaster of Tschernobyl a group of scientists in Jugoslavia experimented on the Vedic fire techniqueAgnihotra. They were able to confirm that after burning the required components in the copper pyramid radioactivity is reduced in the immediate vicinity.

How to receive dry Cowdung?

To practice the Vedic fire ceremonies cowdung from cows which have already calved should be used because such cowdung's specific composition is obtained through the ferments and enzymes in the stomach of a „dairy cow“. There are several possibilities of getting dry cowdung: : Gathering dry cowdung

Page 12: homa farming 2t - rkpushkar.files.wordpress.com · Homa farming is a holistic farming practice that can be combined with any organic, sustainable farming method. ... important part

12 HOMA FARMING

12 www.rkpushkar.wordpress.com| [email protected] RAJNEESH PUSHKER

The easiest method is to look up countrysides with dairy farming during summertime. On abandoned cow pastures you can collect cowdung already dried by the weather. This is fairly easy on alpine pastures because there the grass is low and an almost continual wind makes quick drying sure. A complete drying can be recognized when the cowdung either has no scent at all or if there is a fragrance of fresh herbs, and when the pieces of cowdung are easy to break. Rid the collected dung of small stones and other impurities. To use it for the fire ceremonies cut or break the cowdung into suitable pieces.

Drying fresh cowdung Another possibility consists in drying cowdung oneself. Therefore you collect fresh cowdung from cow pastures or fetch it from a cowshed using a bucket. Over the years we worked out the following method of drying: A plastic foil is put on a solid padding. With a trowel or spatula spread the fresh cowdung on the plastic wrap – 5 to 10 mm thick. Then use the edge of the spatula to carve lines into the moist dung to indicate the desired size of the pieces. Exposed to the sun during a period of fine weather the upper layer of the cowdung will be dried after one day. Then turn over the plastic foil together with the cowdung, remove the foil and smooth out the (back)side of the cowdung. By means of the spatula you also notch the backside to ease the breaking when the cowdung is dry. Another day or two will be necessary for complete drying.

The cowdung can also be spread on a fine-meshed wire netting, streched on a wooden frame. On the wire-netting the cowdung is ventilated sufficiently on both sides and needs not to be turned.

As already mentioned it should be easy to break the completely dry cowdung into suitable pieces and

it should have an agreeable scent. It can be kept for years in a dry place. At the Homa-Hof volunteers are busy drying cowdung in large quantities from about May to September. You are welcome to watch or to help and thereby experience and get to know more interesting facts. The cowdung dried at the Homa-Hof is not for our own use only but we also offer it for sale. It can either be purchased from our online-shop or is available directly at the Homa-Hof. The net profits serve to 100% to pay the mortgages of the Homa-Hof and to maintain the premises.

Agnihotra Ash

With each Agnihotra that is performed, one receives a highly energized ash. If possible, leave the ash in the pyramid until the next performance because it acts like a catalyst for the energy.

The cooled ash is removed before the next Agnihotra. Coarse ash and ghee remains are best

removed with a wooden spatula or a hard paintbrush (no pointed or sharp-edged objects should be used). During the winter, it may be helpful to briefly place the pyramid on a heating unit before the

removal of the remains, in order to warm up the ghee residue

The Agnihotra Ash can be used in many ways. In most cases it is used in powder form.

How To Make Agnihotra Powder Separate rough, hard or incompletely burned parts from the ash. Afterwards put the ash in a fine (kitchen) sieve, gently knocking the ash through it - possibly with the help of a wooden spoon. The rough parts of the ash are saved separately. These may be spread sparingly under trees or, in larger quantities, onto composts or into rivers and lakes. In these

ways the ash will spread its blessed, energizing and purifying effects.

1. In the Garden and in Farming

The ash powder should be sparingly spread by hand over garden beds and fields, preferably with the help of wind. A handful is enough for 30 square meters. This can be repeated every 2 weeks.

Caution: use only a pinch with potted plants.

During droughts it is favorable to apply a mixture of ash and water onto the plants. One can calculate 1 to 4 teaspoons to a 10 liter watering can. Let this stand at least one day so that the water may

become energetically charged. Water the plants every 2 weeks with this ( it is sufficient when each plant receives a few drops). In case of plant diseases or pest attacks, depending on their needs and

growth, increase the dosage and water more often. If you're managing a larger area, (according to our experiences) 5 tablespoons of ash to 200 liters of water (or 20 tablespoons of ash to 1000 l) are

enough.

2. Treatment of trees

Spread the ash ( in fine or rough form) in a circular pattern under the perimeter of the crown. When needed, spray the trunks, branches, and leaves 4-5 times a year with Agnihotra ash water. To make

it, add 1-2 teaspoons of Agnihotra ash to 5 liters of water and let stand for 3 days. Then filter it through a fine cloth.

Trees with wounds can be treated with an Agnihotra ash ointment.

How To Make Agnihotra Ash Ointment

Take one part ash powder and mix with 9 parts ghee (clarified butter). Mix well and fill into a suitable vessel. Apply thinly onto affected areas.

If a tree is very sick, it is of great help to frequently perform Homa fires in its proximity. Among other things, through this we were able to save an old and very sick apple tree. Since then, it has pleased

us with very high and healthy yields.

3. Treatment of Animals

We have had good experiences when Agnihotra ash is applied in powder form - externally upon wounds or on diseased parts of the body.

According to reports from people who practice Agnihotra, we would like to pass on the following experiences:

In cattle breeding, in cases of infections, rashes, and badly healing wounds, Agnihotra ash and ghee

(or milking salve) are mixed in a ratio of 1 : 9 ( in some cases a higher ash concentration is used ) and applied to the stricken areas of the body. Great successes have been achieved through this; even in cases when veterinarians, despite all possible means available, could not bring about improvement.

When domestic animals are attacked by ticks, after their removal apply a mixture of Agnihotra ash-

powder and ghee to the wounds. This leads to a faster healing of the wounds.

With bees, Agnihotra ash is used as follows: fine Agnihotra powder is filled into large salt-shaker (dispenser). With it, the ash is strewn on each individual frame of a hive and carefully blown into the slits and crevices. Thereafter, the

bees begin to clean themselves - thereby stripping away any possible adhering mites. This is carried out with each colony in the spring during the

first or second inspection, and in the fall when the feeding is completed.

This treatment is also undertaken after swarming and when parts of the colonies are transferred to new hives.

Besides this, the bee colonies receive some ash (1 pinch well-mixed with 3

liters) with the first feeding in the fall.

An amazing account came from a woman with severe diabetes, who reported: normally she was not able to ingest honey because her blood-sugar levels would otherwise shoot up. At some point, to her surprise, she realized that this did not happen with honey from Homa production. Her tolerance of it

was exceptional.
