CATECHISTS NEEDED
SUNDAY HUMOR FROM DEACON VINCE
A little humor from Deacon Vince’s homily last weekend.
Hope you enjoy…
Once upon a time, a cat died, and since it was a good cat, it
went to heaven. Now, Saint Martin de Porres takes care of
animal heaven, having loved all creatures during his lifetime.
So Saint Martin asked the cat if he had any special requests.
The cat replied, “All my life I slept on hard surfaces. I’d like a
nice fluffy blanket.” A while later, a group of mice went to
heaven, and Saint Martin asked them the same question. The
head mouse answered, “We had tough lives on earth. Everyone
was always chasing us. We want roller skates.” So, Saint
Martin put tiny skates on their little feet. Some time passed, and
Saint Martin checked up on the cat. The cat was the picture of
happiness. “My blanket is so soft and comfortable; I never want
to leave it. Oh, and by the way, thanks for the Meals on
Wheels!”

“Is anyone among you suffering? They should pray…Is anyone among you sick? They should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over them and anoint them with oil
in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:13,14)

Congratulations to our 32 students who received the Sacrament
of Confirmation last Saturday, June 15. Our thanks to Bishop
Serratelli for joining us to preside and celebrate this special
occasion with our parish family.
MASS ETIQUETTE
Things To Do and Not Do in Mass:
1. Fast before Mass. It is Church law that one fasts for at
least one (1) hour before receiving Holy Communion. Water
and medicine can be consumed, of course. The purpose is
to help us prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
2. No Food and Drink in Church. The exceptions would be
a drink for small children, water for the priest or choir (if
discreet) and water for those who are ill. Bringing a snack
into church is not appropriate, because we want to set the
church apart as a place of prayer and refection.
To be continued...
I hold my heart as a gourd filled with love,
ready to pour upon humanity,
not that I see each on as my own neighbor
though veiled with strangeness or with enmity,
and not that it is my own self I see,
my sins and virtues and my secret mind
multiplied almost to infinity.
Though this to love a proper cause might be,
not in these words is my true love defined.
I hold my heart as a gourd ready to pour
upon all those who live.
Not that I see each one as come from God
and to my soul His representative,
but that God inhabits what He loves
and what His love sustains, and hence I see
in each soul that may brush against my soul
God Who looks out at me.
